Chapter 104 - 1-4

Chapter 1: Gearshift I

Inside One for All, the vestiges were forced to make a choice.

Their successor, Midoriya Izuku was currently about to face a giant murder robot to save a girl, which in Yoichi's opinion was a great reason to allow him to use 100% right off the bat. But in everyone elses opinion, it sucked. Which Yoichi understood... but it was cool!

Midoriya would probably get crushed otherwise, or he wouldn't and he'd just fail the exams without at least looking somewhat cool. So, the vestiges had to give him one of their quirks. Yoichi looked around the roundtable he had set up. "Since my quirk is useless, what about Seventh's?"

"Nope, it won't give him the power he needs. It might give him the speed to grab the girl and run though... Like in a movie," Nana commented before gaining a fond look on her face. Yoichi remembered very well how she and her husband met. It was not a fun night for the vestiges. "What about Fifths?"

"That kid doesn't have an ounce of anger in him now. Blackwhip might as well have the force of a wet fart in his hands at the moment," Banjo commented, leaning back in his chair. "En's quirk won't help him much here either, and neither would Fourth'. Third, Second?"

Bruce sighed. "He's not that far away from the robot, not enough time to build up any Kinetic Energy to really do anything. And then it'd have the same problems as the base of One for All. He doesn't need to beat the robot, he just needs to stop it."

"I'm not giving him my quirk," Kudou said immediately, sighing as he looked up at the other users. "I'm not a fan of the kid and Eighth should have trained him better. This will be a wake up call for them both."

"Do you really trust Toshi to be a good teacher?" Nana asked, turning to Kudou. "I love him, we all do. But we all know that Midoriya won't have much help until Gran steps in. But I think someone with more experience with the quirk should step in to teach him. You were the one that helped Yoichi learn how to use One for All originally, right?"

"That was mostly me guessing and using anime tropes I learned from my wife," Kudou looked back at Nana before turning his head to the screen they had set up. Midoriya was close to reaching the robot. "The kid will be fine."

"I'll tell the others about the incident with the burri-" Yoichi was shut up by Kudou putting a hand over the first user's mouth. Yoichi gave Kudou a victorious grin, one that caused Kudou to pull his hand away. "Give him your quirk. He doesn't need to make himself faster for it to be useful."

Kudou groaned. "Why do I listen to you?" He opened a portal and began walking through it. "When this ends poorly, I will blame all of you."

And with that, the screen shifted.

Midoriya Izuku wasn't having the best of days.

He was actually having a pretty good day at first. He even talked to a cute girl and he thought he did well on the written test. But now? He hadn't gotten a single point in the practical. He would fail the test and disappoint All Might. Would All Might take away One for All? Would All Might stop teaching him? Midoriya didn't want to know.

Even if those things did happen, he still had to do this one act of good. Because the cute girl from earlier needed his help. His body just moved. And when he moved, he tried to activate One for All. He clenched his butt cheeks and held his arm out, ready to shout.

He then blinked.

And suddenly, he was in a void. In front of him was a man who looked a lot like Kacchan. But his hair was orange and he had a scar on his face. The man looked at Midoriya like he didn't want to be there, but he spoke anyways. That's when Midoriya realized he couldn't do anything. "I don't have a lot of time to explain," He began.

"One for All allows its users to live on inside the quirk. And due to that, we can give our quirks to a user who has reached singularity. Since your body hasn't been trained well enough for the tremendous force of 100% of One for All, me and the other vestiges made the choice to give you my quirk."

Midoriya blinked before his mind ran through the possibilities. All Might never mentioned this to Midoriya. Did he not know? And wait- did that mean he wouldn't actually be able to use One for All? Midoriya had so many more questions on his mind, but the man in front of him slapped him.

"Don't do that. That will get you killed in battle," He said, giving Midoriya no time to think before continuing. "My quirk is Gearshift. It allows me to decrease or increase the speed and or velocity of an object in space. Due to it reaching Singularity, it is far stronger."

Did that mean Midoriya would be able to use it to destro-

"Do not use it on yourself. It will increase your speed, but it will damage your body just as much, if not more, than One for All. Use it on other objects, mainly the robot. Now, that's all. Use my quirk like an idiot and I will take it away. Understand?" The man's voice was harsh, but it got the point across to Midoriya who blinked.

Then the world returned and his hand moved, touching the robot as it reached him. And a voice in the back of his mind urged Midoriya to 'pull' which caused the green haired boy to 'pull'. The feeling in his body vanished as the robot froze entirely, stopping just before trampling Midoriya.

He looked at the robot, and at his hand. And internally he screamed with joy. Externally, he moved toward the pretty girl who was barely able to move. "Are you okay?" He asked, not being able to contain his surprise that he made the Robot stop.

The girl looked up at him. "I am... what did you do to the Zero Pointer," She asked, causing Midoriya to sputter for a minute as he tried to come up with an answer to such a problem. He wasn't prepared. All Might wasn't here to help...

'Just tell her your quirk is Energy Manipulation.' Midoriya heard suddenly. 'It's my quirk you're using now.'

'Oh... what's your name?' Midoriya asked as he smiled at the pretty girl. "Energy Manipulation. It allows me to manipulate existing energy..." He trailed off briefly before hearing a sigh in his mind. "Including Kinetic Energy-" Midoriya hastily added on at the end.

The girl blinked. "Oh that's cool! Did you take away the robot's kinetic energy?" Midoriya nodded and the girl's brown eyes moved to glance at the robot. "Uh... thank you. My name is Uraraka Ochako," She introduced herself.

Midoriya stammered briefly before smiling. "My name is Midoriya Izuku," He said, briefly filling with confidence before looking at the robot. 'Will it move again...'

'Second. And no, it won't unless you accelerate it again.' The now named Second said, causing Midoriya to sigh with relief before having another question in mind. 'No, my name is not Second. But that is what I want you to call me for the foreseeable future.'

'Alright!' Midoriya responded before seeing a hand wave in front of his face. "Oh sorry! Did I space out?" Uraraka nodded and looked at Midoriya with some level of worry in her eyes. "Sorry, it's just a side effect of my quirk..."

Technically, he wasn't lying, right?

"That sucks. That could suck especially in a fight... I have bad side effects too, though," Uraraka said, smiling at Midoriya.

And as Midoriya smiled back with his mind turned to jelly, 'Second' sighed inside Midoriya's mind. 'When Eight gets here I will fucking kill him.'

"So, thoughts?" Yoichi asked as the roundtable observed Midoriya talking to All Might about his new quirk and his meeting with Kudou. Yoichi personally thought that things were going smoothly, especially with how Eight was taking it.

"That means..." All Might's face froze in both horror and sadness. "You will meet my mentor, Young Midoriya..." Yep, swimmingly. No regret or trauma at all to speak of... Which was a lie. Everyone knew that was a lie.

"Toshi..." Nana commented, frowning. She then shook her head. "I think Midoriya did well. He needs a bit of work though... When will he be able to get the rest of our quirks?" To that, everyone looked at Yoichi. "You don't know, don't you?"

"Hey, don't blame me for not knowing everything about One for All. We're still actively figuring this out," Yoichi said as he made his chair a recliner. "He'll get them when he's ready though, I think. Or we'll have to run damage control because he accidentally awakened Blackwhip."

"Are you mad, A-All Might?" Midoriya asked, looking down at the sand. "It should be you who gets to meet her again, not me. You miss her a lot, don't you?" Midoriya looked back up to see an All Might who was trying to hold back tears.

"She was like a mother to me," All Might admitted, and from there the two transitioned into talking about Nana and how to train Gearshift. Mainly, what in the fuck the two were going to do to allow Midoriya to actually use his quirk outside of close quarters combat.

Back with the Roundtable, the sixth member woke up. "I will be prepared for that," The one best at controlling their emotions, En, said as he looked up. "And if he awakens Smokescreen, I will be there too," Everyone nodded at that, including the user of Blackwhip.

"I still think giving the kid my quirk was a mistake," Kudo commented as a portal opened, allowing him to walk back into the room. "At least he won't kill himself with it, though," At that the Roundtable watched as Midoriya pulled out a notebook of ideas.

"Do you think Gearshift would work on cells," Midoriya asked, and Kudou sighed, walked into the portal, and Midoriya froze. Kudou then walked back. "Or is there any chance I could get some kind of... weapon from the support department if I get in?"

"You told him to ask that instead, didn't you?" Bruce looked at Kudo who took his seat, the one closest to Yoichi. "You did, didn't you, leader?"

Kudou held out his gauntlets. "Yes. Because that is the safest way to use Gearshift, even at Singularity. Once he gets better at using it, then he can mess around and experiment. He doesn't need to rush getting himself killed."

"You could request one with your costume should you pass. Which I am not allowed to reveal to you," All Might said before looking around, not seeing anyone, and then he leaned in. "You did it Young Midoriya! You passed!"

Midoriya then bluescreened, which Yoichi found eternally hilarious.

"Aww, you care!" Yoichi pointed out. Kudou began rubbing the bridge of his nose then. "Admit it, you care about Midoriya."

"He's just a kid who wants to be a hero. But he isn't ready for that or for the world," Kudou said, glaring at the first user of One for All. "He needs guidance if he is to use my quirk correctly. So I'll give him that and make sure he knows a bit about the world."

"So you care about him?" All the other users asked, causing Kudou to sigh.

"We're grown ups, damnit. Stop doing this!"

It was Midoriya's first day of UA. Naturally, he was excited. But also nervous at the same time. What if that guy with glasses was there? Or Kacchan? He really didn't want to see either of them since both of them...

'Stay calm. If you do face them, stand up for yourself.' Second said suddenly, causing Midoriya to yelp in surprise. 'You are the Ninth user of One for All. Stand with pride. Despite my own personal feelings, you were picked. You will be a great hero one day despite what everyone says.' That...was reassuring. 'I will help you until someone more suited can. And because of that, I will not stand to see you lack self respect.'

Midoriya prepared to retort, saying that he had plenty of self respect. But he heard an explosion and instinctually curled into himself a bit. 'Like I said, have self respect. Stand up for yourself. How can you be a hero if you can't even do that? You need to be at the top of your emotions. You can't have fear, you can't have cowardice.'

'O-okay...' Midoriya responded after a moment. It made sense, he supposed. But he didn't matter... He would save everyone he could, regardless of what he thought of himself. But Second was the more experienced one... He probably should ask All Might for advice... but then again he was busy already and Midoriya didn't want to disturb him.

Second sighed. 'Just make it to class. Don't be late. But also don't be too early. Be right on time so you don't stick out and so you don't have to wait too long for class to start. Be quiet and keep a note of your surroundings as well.'

Midoriya nodded at that. It was much more solid advice that he would take. So, he looked down at the paper he had with directions to class on it. '1-B, 1-B, 1-B...' He was having trouble finding it, but he had arrived early for a reason. So, he needed to find Class 1-B quickly.

He looked around and saw a door. Above it was something that made Midoriya smile. 'Class 1-B...' He wasn't late, hopefully! He hoped that the nice girl would be in his class. He really did. When he opened the door he was both disappointed and happy.

No nice girl. But no glasses guy or Kacchan either... He then glanced at his classmates. He was the last to arrive. But, their teacher wasn't here yet. Which meant that he wasn't late! 'Seat 17. ' He sat down between a rather smug looking blond boy and a boy with the teeth on the outside of their mouth.

He heard arguing from some of his classmates. And some discussion between them. But he wasn't paying attention at the moment. Instead he was just... excited! He was at UA. He really made it. Midoriya was... happy. He felt like he had accomplished something.

Was this what it felt like to be Kacchan?

It was then that the door opened, revealing a large gruff looking man with grayish hair. Midoriya picked out every detail of the man's suit right away. "You're the Blood Hero: Vlad King!" At that, Vlad King smiled at Midoriya.

"I am. And I will be your homeroom teacher for the next three years, Class 1-B," He began as he walked to the front of the class. "Like Midoriya said, I am Vlad King. But you can call me Vlad-sensei or Kan-sensei. Today is your orientation to UA high school."

Midoriya's excitement reached a new high then... He re- 'You didn't make it yet. Wait until you are an actual hero to be excited. Then focus on saving people.' Second interjected Midoriya's thoughts, causing him to calm down.

'Okay.' He responded as he looked at Vlad King who was explaining what they were doing today.

"But first before we do any of that, why don't you all introduce yourselves?"

And that immediately rained on Midoriya's parade.

"You know what would be funny?" Yoichi asked the roundtable as they watched.

"What?" Bruce spun around in his chair before stopping to look at Yoichi.

"Imagine if Nine knew we were all watching him," Yoichi said.

Everyone blinked. "He would have a heart attack, that's not funny," En stopped munching on the delicious ghost shrimp that he had been enjoying.

"Well not for him, but for us. We haven't had good entertainment since Seventh, damnit!"

"...That was all 20 Twilight sequels I had to watch on a dare from Gran," Nana looked at Yoichi who shrugged. "You are a madman."

"Runs in the family," Yoichi ate some ghost popcorn. "Now shh. I wanna enjoy the show."

Chapter 2: Gearshift II

"I guess I'll go first," An orange haired girl said as she walked to the front of the class."Itsuka Kendo. I look forward to being your classmate."

'I'm going to die.' The Ninth User of One for All thought, which the Roundtable could hear.

"Do we help him?" Bruce asked as they watched the screen. Various classmates of Midoriya were walking up and introducing themselves. And the Vestiges all knew Midoriya would go last. "This reminds me of middle school..." Bruce muttered.

"Mood," En sighed. "And you thought he wasn't worthy? He's just like us," He then looked at the screen. "His classmates seem nice-" "Togaru Kamakiri. I wanna fight you all, you hear me?" "-for the most part," En then looked at Kudou. "Are you going to help him?"

"Nope," Kudou leaned back. "I'm only going to help him with Gearshift and to prepare him for the world. This technically would fall under that, but this is a good opportunity for him to see how out of his depth he is," He then cracked open a beer.

"Juzo Honenuki. I hope that we all can get along."A kid with his teeth on the outside of his face said before walking back to his desk. There were still a few more people left before Midoriya would be forced to go.

"You're just being lazy, aren't you?" Yoichi pointed out, which caused Kudou to shrug. "You've always been bad at people advice... Yet you were our leader," Then Yoichi got elected by Bruce, Hikage, and Banjo. Kudou was being a sourpuss then since he didn't like En at first.

"Yui Kodai," A girl who looked rather untalkative said before walking over to her desk again. There were 2 more people who needed to go up and the Roundtable knew that Midoriya was still thinking about what he wanted to say.

They all looked over to Kudou.

"No. I'm not going to help him prepare a speech. He just needs to say "I'm Izuku Midoriya, I look forward to being your classmate!" or some variation of that. He will be nervous. But that is fine. This isn't middle school. It's high school."

"Like that's much better," Nana commented, groaning. "Just help the kid. He won't think of it until after the fact. We all know what it's like to be a teenager, Second," At that, Midoriya stood up and the Roundtable snapped their heads. "Go!"

Kudou wouldn't relent, he just sat there with his arms crossed. Then Yoichi stood up. "Help him or I will take away your ghost beer privileges for a week... no. Two weeks," Kudou glared at Yoichi, but stood firm. "Three. And we'll pin you down and glue the hat onto your head."

"You wouldn't," Kudou stood up himself as he prepared to fight against One for All's elected sighed as everyone else stood up as well, "Fine..." He opened a portal. "You all suck," With that parting comment, he left and the users of One for All cheered as they could hear Kudou.

"Repeat after me," Kudou began, drawing Midoriya's attention. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. And I hope we all can get along," Kudou said calmly. "Stay calm. A hero has to be calm. They can't be nervous in situations worse than this."

'Alright.' Midoriya responded, still sounding nervous. But he put on a brave face. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. And I hope we all can get along," He repeated Kudou's words and didn't sound nervous. And that was a huge win for the Roundtable. 'Thank you, Second.'

"Don't thank me. Focus on controlling your emotions better."

And with that, Kudou left and a portal opened back at the Roundtable.

"Alright class, now that you have introduced yourselves, we will be going to orientation. And then we will be doing a test to see where you stand with your quirks," Vlad King explained, causing Yoichi to groan. This again?

"Can we fast forward? I hate this cutscene," He said, manifesting a remote.

"It's been 50 years nearly and this isn't even a cutscene... I thought we broke you out of that mindset?" Hikage sighed as Yoichi grinned, no sign of guilt. "At least you never played League..."

Yeah he would be disappointed in Yoichi.

Nobody had to know, though!

Midoriya was no longer as nervous as he was before. Going to orientation really helped! Everything was explained. They would be learning mainly Quirk Control and Rescue Protocol in year 1 as well as going on internships. And that was really cool! In their second years, they would begin work studies and they would be delving into more topics like Investigation and Underground Heroics. You were also given the choice of electives which could help you in whatever heroic path you wanted to go down on.

In their third year, it was mainly about work studies and the logistical side of heroics. This would also be the time any weaknesses would be patched up through remedial training. Midoriya was sure he would need it, so he was glad that it existed.

But now? He was excited. He couldn't wait to see his new classmate's quirks and how they used them. He wondered what exactly the test was as Kan-sensei led them to UA's P.E. Grounds. Which is where they would be doing the test that Kan-sensei mentioned earlier.

Midoriya was nervous for it, but he knew he had to try. Plus Ultra was UA's motto... So he had to go Plus Ultra! Which was something that Second would probably say, although Midoriya wasn't sure. But that didn't matter as he could see Kan-sensei stop walking.

Everyone stood in a line for Kan-sensei. "Stand proud, Class 1-B. This will be your first test to gauge how far you are already and how far you have left to go. Even if you place 20th, do not think you are bad. You made it here. You deserve to be here. We sent you those acceptance letters for a reason."

That... was actually really inspiring. And it helped calm Midoriya down. Even though he was already calm, or as calm as he could be, he was still somewhat nervous. Ignore the fact that his hands felt clammy and that his heart rate was definitely unhealthy.

"We will now be doing the Quirk Apprehension Test. This set of tests are designed to show off how creatively you use your quirk. Some of these tests will be unfair to you, and I apologize for that. But these tests are generally the standard and biased toward those with more flashy quirks," He then grabbed a baseball and a phone with what looked to be an app on it. Our first test is simple. Step into the red circle below and throw a baseball as far as you can using your quirk," He then turned his head to a vine haired girl. "Shiozaki out of the class you scored the highest so you go first."

Kan-sensei threw the ball to Shiozaki who caught it using her fines. She then walked into the red circle. She then whispered a prayer and Midoriya watched as Shiozaki flung the ball using her hair. She then looked to Kan-sensei. "388.8 Meters. Good throw," He then took a few steps and lifted a panel on the floor up, revealing 19 more baseballs. "Who wants to go next?"

Various people went next including Kendo who threw the ball using an enlarged fist, Shoda who used his quirk Twin Impact to send the ball away, Kodai shrunk the ball and threw it, Kaibara spun his arm quickly and threw it, and Kamakiri hit the ball with a blade that emerged from his arm. He hit it with the side of his blade in what was an impressive display of dexterity.

Midoriya was amazed instantly. His classmates had really cool quirks!

"Togaru Kamakiri, 266 Meters," Kan-sensei said before nodding. "Good job," He praised, causing Kamakiri to grin as he retracted the blades in his arm.

He wanted to pull out his notebook but he didn't. Instead he decided to do something stupid. He chose to go next. Each step under him felt like a mile as the taps on the ground sounded like thunder. But, he made it. "Midoriya. Your turn then. I read your file so I know you are a really late bloomer. Take as much time as you need."

Kan-sensei threw the ball and Midoriya managed to catch it. Although it nearly slipped out of his hands. 'Late... bloomer?' He then remembered that All Might said he would cover for him. Which... honestly Midoriya just felt grateful to his mentor. So he had to make him proud.

Now Midoriya hadn't practiced much with making objects go faster. Only slower. The feeling of making something slower was akin to a pull. So, the opposite should hold true as well. 'It does. Now, throw the ball. Don't think about it all day.' Midoriya heard Second and he decided to take his advice.

He took a deep breath and the ball glowed with a blue outline as Midoriya stepped back, still being inside the circle as he did so. He then shifted his feet causing dust to kick off of the ground. And then he threw the ball.

The ball darted forward.

"700 Meters," Vlad King announced, causing Midoriya to yelp in surprise. "Great job, Midoriya!" Kan-sensei praised, causing Midoriya to sputter. "Who wants to go next?"

As others went, Midoriya was just... surprised.

He had scored the best of his classmates so far...

'You did good, Midoriya.' Second said in his mind. 'Now focus on the other tests.'

Midoriya nodded. 'I'll do my best, Second.'

Because that was all he could do. His best.

The 50 meter dash was something Midoriya dreaded as he walked up to the starting point. "Get ready," Kan-sensei said as he grabbed a stopwatch. It was Midoriya and Kamakiri. Kamakiri crouched down into a running position.

Midoriya also crouched into a running position and he looked at his shoes... He had an idea. He put his hand on his shoe. 'I see what you're going for, Midoriya. Brace yourself.' Midoriya heard Second urge him, and he knew what could happen. He was only going to speed up the shoe, not himself actually. So balance would be weird.

Kamakiri noticed Midoriya's preparation and he crouched further, his shoes scratching against the ground. He simply grunted as he looked forward. Kan-sensei then clicked the stopwatch. "Go!" And with that, both of the two began sprinting.

Midoriya activated Gearshift and he managed to top himself from falling on his face as he took a first step. It felt like his shoes were lighter than air... Not really, but that was the closest feeling Midoriya had to describe how he felt.

And because of the burst of speed, combined with the speed he had from training, Midoriya made it past Kamakiri. Barely. But seeing that made Kamakiri grunt as he tried to move faster. "I'll catch up to you, damnit," As he said that though, they reached the finish line.

Midoriya barely managed to stop himself from crashing into the wall as he released the effects of Gearshift. "You almost had me! I honestly didn't expect to do that," Midoriya said as he patted himself to make sure nothing as out of place. He then turned with Kamakiri and smiled.

"I'll beat you next time," Kamakiri said as he turned to Kan-sensei. "What were the times, Vlad-sensei?" He asked and Kan-sensei held up the stopwatch. It read 5.2 seconds for Kamakiri and 4.9 seconds for Midoriya. Kamakiri then turned to Midoriya. "You were faster... I wanna fight you." Kamakiri said before walking back to the line.

'And now you have a rival... I would be wary of him.'

'He doesn't seem like he wants to actually hurt me though.' Midoriya said before realizing he didn't respond to Kamakiri. "W-wait!" Kamakiri did not wait as he continued to walk.

Midoriya began following the mantis boy as Kan-sensei spoke. "Great job, both of you. If you two do want to fight, we will be getting to that another day. As long as you don't injure each other too badly though you can spar in one of UA's training gyms with supervision from a teacher," Kamakiri grinned and Kan-sensei continued. "Next."

It was the final test. And Midoriya was honestly... feeling both really nervous and really happy. He hadn't done terribly! At least he thought so. Even if he was last, he could at least feel somewhat happy. But that would mean he still had lots of work to do.

So far though there were some interesting part of the exams and there hadn't been a real winner who won more than once. Midoriya shockingly enough won the ball throw. Kendo won the Grip Strength test by making her hand larger and basically crushing the thing. And Midoriya was fascinated when he saw it. How did it work? How strong were her hands exactly? Midoriya would theorize about that as the year went on.

Other test winners were Kamakiri with the Standing Long Jump. He really had impressive leg power! Midoriya wondered why he didn't jump like that in the 50 meter dash. Repeated Side Steps was tricky since nobody was really that good at that. But Tsuburaba managed to squeak that out by using his quirk to make walls around him that helped. In the distance run, Midoriya had a chance of winning... had he not fell on his face. Kodai won that, although nobody knew how. And for Sit Ups, Tetsutetsu won. It was actually close and Tetsutetsu had commented that he and Midoriya should be gym buddies sometime.

And that did actually sound great to Midoriya! But, he was focusing on the tests as Kan-sensei tallied the results. "You all did great today. You all still have lots of ground to cover, but you all will be splendid heroes one day," Kan-sensei unveiled a graph then.

Midoriya's eyes quickly spotted his name at number 5. And he nearly cried. He had made it to number 5! He wasn't first, but he also wasn't last... And that made Midoriya feel warm. Maybe things would be different at UA. In the corner of his eye, Midoriya could spot All Might giving him a thumbs up.

Today... was a good day. And Midoriya would remember it for the rest of his life. But that didn't mean he would slack off. He had to make All Might proud and he had to become worthy of One for All. He would be a hero that put a smile on people's face, just like All Might.

"Remember, even if you think you did poorly you did good. You are a part of UA and that means you've already made it further than most," Kan-sensei smiled. "You all are dismissed for the day. You already should have read the schedules in the emails the school has sent you so you should know when to arrive. Have a nice day, everyone. Be sure to rest and study up once you get home."

With a few goodbyes, people began leaving for their trains home. And Midoriya was content to go home to tell Midoriya about his day. But he did notice other people leave with newly made friends... It did remind him that he didn't have Kacchan in his class. He was the only friend he had in his childhood and now he was alone.

"Mm," He heard and he yelled in surprise as he turned and saw Kodai walking with him.

"Uh, hello?" He tried asking since he didn't really understand what Kodai said. But she sounded... positive? "Why are you walking with me?" Kodai looked around and so did Midoriya. And there was nobody else there. "Oh... That sucks. We could walk to the train station together then?"

'That's already what you two are doing.' Second pointed out and Midoriya immediately wanted to curl up into a ball. '...You and Sixth would definitely get along... Why couldn't it have been him?' Second lamented. 'Just talk to her.'

"Mm," Kodai responded, sounding slightly more annoyed as the two began walking again. Footsteps of other people could be heard as the two got closer to the train station. And Mdoriya was just happy to go home and maybe see if he couldn't talk to All Might later.

"Sorry," Midoriya felt the breeze of the wind... It was a lot less loud than when he walked to school with Kacchan. Or when he talked to Kacchan. "How was your day?" He decided to ask eventually. Since it was probably going to be a long ride home anyways.

"Fine," Kodai said and with that, the two began talking.

Chapter 3: Gearshift III

Toshinori Yagi was a proud man. No, he wasn't proud of himself or anything. He was proud of his successor.

He hadn't inherited One for All's strength. He had inherited another quirk. The Quirk of the Second user of One for All. And that opened up so many possibilities. He would unlock possibly up to 7 quirks. Including the strength of One for All.

Toshinori regretted the fact that he couldn't help Midoriya much with his quirk. So seeing him do well, seeing him flourish. It made him proud. One for All was in the right hands. And that was all Toshinori could ask for.

Young Midoriya would be an even better hero than him one day. He just needed help getting there. And since he couldn't help him with his quirk at the moment? Toshinori would be sure to teach Young Midoriya the things only he could.

He had learned a lot in America after all. And even more during his time as a hero.

"Today..." Toshinori pulled out a large binder with a new lesson plan. "Heroics 101" was something he had been working on since he had first seen Young Midoriya use Gearshift. It was separate from the rest of his lesson plans for UA. "You will be learning how to control your power output!"

It was a specialized version of the lesson. Since Gearshift was boosted by One for All, it was far more powerful than most quirks. If Young Midoriya could apply it to anything, then he would need to learn how to limit it so he wouldn't send a paperclip at someone at the speed of sound.

Young Midoriya looked up at Toshinori with stars in his eyes before they disappeared. "Isn't that something we'll learn at UA?"

Toshinori nodded. "It will be. But that doesn't mean you can't get started early! Especially since your quirk has more destructive potential than your classmates," That wasn't to say that his classmate's quirks were bad. No quirk was a bad quirk! But Gearshift was more dangerous than other quirks. "Which means that lesson will come later on in the year! But for the safety of everyone involved, it is best if you learn now."

Toshinori then activated One for All. "I want you to try and use Gearshift on this can," Toshinori threw the can. Midoriya moved to catch it, the sand under him shifting. "Now, throw it at me with Gearshift activated. Throw it as hard as possible."

Young Midoriya looked a bit worried, but then he nodded. "Okay, All Might!" A blue outline illuminated the can then. And Midoriya threw it, covering his ears just after. There was a boom and Toshinori caught the can, feeling a slight burn. Midoriya looked amazed as he took his hands off of his ears. "Why did you want me to throw the can?"

"To see the roof of your power, of course!" Toshinori then threw the can back at Midoriya, making a note to cover up the fact that there was a sonic boom later. "Now, throw that but not at the speed of sound, please," Midoriya blinked and Toshinori remembered he had to teach him how. "If Gearshift works anything like One for All, then there is energy involved. Put less energy into it."

"Oh," The blue outline was less pronounced this time around, and Toshinori watched as Young Midoriya threw the can. It was much slower. And this time, catching it didn't hurt. "Was that better?" He asked as Toshinori dropped the can.

Toshinori's smile stretched. "That was great my boy!" Now that Midoriya wouldn't kill his classmates, Toshinori could prepare for the events later on in the day. "You're a natural. Although, tone the power down a bit more. I can take much more than the average person in today's world, so the results are skewed."

Ever since his first meeting with Young Midoriya, Toshinori had been taking steps to become more in tune with society.

He wouldn't let himself become like that again.

Midoriya nodded as a gust of wind blew by, "I'll do it, next time..." He then blinked as he looked up at All Might. "Isn't it almost time for school?"

Toshinori blinked. 'Crap.'

"That is what we will be going over this week. Search and Rescue. Wednesday you will be going with Class 1-A to the Unforseen Simulation Joint for Rescue Training. Any questions?" Kan-sensei asked as he wrapped things up.

Midoriya's hand shot up. Rescue Training was fascinating to him. It was a part of Heroics he had been interested in since All Might's debut. "Who will be teaching us?" He hoped it would be All Might. Midoriya really hoped All Might would teach them about rescue.

'Fanboy...' Second commented, although Midoriya ignored the comment. All Might was great and they both knew it. Midoriya would argue that point if he had to, though. He was willing too and Second knew it well because of a debate they had last night. 'Don't remind me.'

"The Space Hero: Thirteen will be teaching most things rescue related this year..." Midoriya began shaking in his seat then. He then managed to reign his fanboy self in. He would still ask for an autograph, though. "Any other questions?" Nobody ended up asking any. And because of that, Kan-sensei nodded to himself. "Class dismissed."

What followed after Homeroom was the part of UA that most would find boring. Academics. But Midoriya found that he enjoyed school... It felt weird though since Kacchan wasn't there. But then again, he was... happier.

The next class after lunch was heroics. Their first heroics class of the year. Taught by All Might himself. Midoriya was excited. Because that would be the very first bit of heroics they would learn... Midoriya could confidently say that he was looking forward to it. He wanted to learn more from All Might.

But lunch came first, unfortunately.

it at least gave Midoriya time to work on his latest quirk analysis notebook! It was where he was putting everything about Gearshift and it was where he would put the remaining One for All quirks information if he ever unlocked them!

'When, not if.' Second reminded him. 'And no, I don't know what you will get next. When its time, the user of One for All will come to you.'

That was when Midoriya thought it would be a good idea to ask what he was getting next. But before he could, he noticed Kodai sit down across him. After three minutes of silence, it was surprisingly Kodai who started speaking. "What are you doing?"

'Crud...' Yes, he was using harsh language. But he didn't think he'd be asked about his notebooks. Although, that's on him for having one out openly. He's surprised Kacchan didn't immediately sense him. "Uh... I'm writing about my quirk."

Kodai blinked. "Vlad-sensei mentioned you were a Late Bloomer. How late?" Kodai made sure to look at Midoriya, and not his notebook... People respecting his privacy with his notebooks. That was somehow the most surprising thing Midoriya had experienced in the last year.

Now, Midoriya could be... okay yeah he couldn't be honest anyways. But, he did look down and try to hide himself in his notebook, which counted for something. Maybe. Midoriya hadn't really been apart of a lot of normal social situations in the last 11 years. "Is "during the entrance exam, before a painful crushing death" a good answer?"

"Mm," Kodai responded before she began eating... And that was the end of it apparently, as she didn't say anything more. And that worried Midoriya immensely. But, he just decided to continue writing down an idea he had for Gearshift. Kodai then looked back up at Midoriya. "Do you know all that your quirk can do?"

Midoriya took his turn to blink in surprise then as he looked up from his notebook. "No... I'm trying to find all the ways that it can work, though!" Talking about quirks made Midoriya excited. And the fact that he could now use a quirk himself made him excited beyond all measures. "My quirk lets me control the velocity of an object. It can work on anything, including myself."

"That... opens up a lot of possibilities," Kodai responded before looking down at Midoriya's notebook which he shifted closer to him. "Have you thought about anything like speeding up air particles? Or the atoms in an object if you can actually do that?"

Midoriya blinked again. Because that wasn't something he thought of. "I haven't..." Midoriya then wondered if he could go test that out. "I did think of using it to make something always hit..." Midoriya's mind went into overdrive then. If he could manipulate air particles... "But if I can manipulate air, could I deflect any attack? Or at least most unless they're strong enough..."

'...I'm just going to let this happen because honestly I have no fucking idea how this will turn out.' Midoriya opted to ignore Second's crude language.

"Do you want to test that?" Kodai asked before grabbing something out of her pocket. It was a button. "That sounds too stupidly powerful to not try," Midoriya... agreed with Kodai. It was a terrible, and Midoriya meant it, terrible idea to do it at the lunch table.

But he had priorities, dangit!

Midoriya put his hand out and the air around him gave out a blue glow. And Midoriya began focusing. Because making something move like this was hard. "Throw it," Kodai enlarged the button to be the size of a stone using her quirk, which was still amazing to Midoriya, before throwing it.

It was sent zooming into a wall... at the other side of the room.

Midoriya and Kodai turned their heads briefly. Midoriya panicked. But before he could scream, he heard Second. 'Calm down. Deactivate Gearshift. If anyone says anything, just say you went to the DMV yesterday.'

'Why?'

'Trust me, everyone will understand.'

"That's the best advice you could give him, seriously?" En asked as he looked at Second who looked like he was having war flashbacks. "You could have told him to move to another table or just lie. Or something other than "you went to the DMV" Second."

"No no, he's onto something here," Banjo said as he kicked his feet onto the roundtable. "You never got a chance to go to the DMV, En. You were too busy running from your family... Why were you doing that again?"

"They were a part of the Yakuza," En deadpanned before turning to the other members of the Roundtable who looked surprised. "How bad is the DMV?"

"The place makes All for One's reign of terror look like a tea party..." All the Vestiges apart from En said at once.

"Oh, okay yeah that's bad."

"Young Midoriya, why did you use Gearshift at lunch?" All Might asked after pulling Midoriya aside just before heroics class.

"I went to the DMV yesterday..?" Midoriya tried, and All Might pulled him into a hug.

"I'm sorry to hear that."

Elsewhere in Kamino, a certain Demon Lord Wannabe woke up from his afternoon nap, screaming. "Oh... it's not real," He sighed in relief. He'd rather go be in the presence of that Quirk Thief bastard All Might than have that dream again. All for One then noticed that his pants were wetter than before.

The Potato Shaped man looking over him frowned. "DMV dream?"

All for One nodded, shifting on his quite frankly uncomfortable bed. "DMV dream."

It was now time for Foundational Heroics Class. Or it was a few minutes ago. Midoriya heard what All Might said earlier, he knew what they were doing. And he couldn't be more excited. They were going to get actual heroic experience!

And now that he was actually here... he felt a bit embarrassed. Because he was in a hero costume that was mostly made by his mother. The only thing that wasn't was the set of gauntlets that were on his arms. They sleek green gauntlets with three charges in them each. They were able to shoot out rounded disks that could have their speed increased by Gearshift.

As Midoriya was struggling to not move, All Might pulled out a contract "Now, since your sister class got a bit... destructive earlier, I am now contractually obligated to tell you to not explode the roof," He put the piece of paper away in some kind of pocket before grabbing a raffle drum from seemingly nowhere. "Now with that out of the way we can get to the meaning of the exercise!"

Monoma raised his hand. "What exactly will we be doing, All Might-sensei?" He asked before glancing at the balls inside of the raffle machine. Each one had a letter on it. There were two of each letter. "Is this some kind of exercise where we are paired together?"

"That is correct, Young Monoma!" All Might began spinning the raffle machine. "You all will take out a ball from the machine. And let's say..." All Might looked at Midoriya. "Young Midoriya gets a ball with the letter I marked on it. Whoever else gets the letter I would be paired with Midoriya!" He then grabbed another Raffle Machine. "And then, since the TV used to randomize the matches got hit by some stray Acid, we will be using this raffle machine to decide the matches!"

"Matches..?" Tsuburaba blinked. "Is this going to be some kind of fight?" At that, Kamakiri grinned from the side, looking at Midoriya in particular.

All Might nodded. "It will be, Young Tsuburaba!" He then grabbed a whiteboard... also out of nowhere. Midoriya wondered if it was a quirk or if All Might was just that fast... Which would make sense. It's all Might. "Think of this as a game of Heroes vs Villains. The villain team have to protect the bomb for fifteen minutes. The hero team needs to touch the bomb to disarm it. Or capture both villains. Alternatively, knock them out. The same applies for the villains except for the disarming part! But Recovery Girl may crucify me if any more unconscious students are sent to her office. It's the second time this week it's happened."

"It's only Monday," Kendo pointed out, looking very concerned as some leftover cinder and ash from the building beside the class flew overhead. Kendo then looked over to said building. "Should we be worried?"

"Yes it is only Monday," All Might sighed, dragging a hand down his face. "There is a reason why you are not allowed to explode anything," He frowned briefly before his smile returned. "But you shouldn't be worried, Young Kendo! The building was designed to be able to take an attack from the strongest villains! So you should be fine!"

"W-Why is there a hole through the wall?" Midoriya asked then as he noticed, right at the side of the building there was a hole shaped like a person with spikey hair.

All Might once again sighed. "Some people got a bit too destructive in their endeavors for heroism. Do not be fooled though, most of these were accidents that I'm sure you all will make as well! I hope you do not, but my hope in that has unfortunately died the moment the whole building was froze over!"

Just what the hell are kids on these days... Can't be IPads anymore...' Second sighed as Midoriya thought about asking what an IPad was. 'It's best that you don't know, Midoriya.' His voice trembled, and Midoriya took that as a sign that he probably shouldn't ask.

"Those 1-A scoundrels..." Midoriya heard Monoma vaguely mutter. "We will not make the same mistakes as those hooligans."

"Your classmates are not Hooligans, Young Monoma! But I would appreciate it if you did not!" All Might then opened the raffle up. "Who wants to go first?"

In the end the teams decided were Kaibara and Shiozaki, Tokage and Monoma, Kamakiri and Yanagi, Tsuburaba and Awase, Shishida and Fukidashi, Honenuki and Tetsutetsu, Kuroiro and Kendo, Midoriya and Rin, Tsunotori and Komori, and finally Shoda and Kodai.

Midoriya and Rin stood together as they waited for All Might to grab the balls with their team names. Midoriya and Rin were team H. "Hi," Rin decided to say as the two teammates looked at each other.

"Hi," Midoriya said back, just as awkwardly... The two would probably actually make for a really good team., so it was best that they got comfortable with each other now. "Hopefully we don't have to fight anyone like Tsunotori..."

"Yeah... Long Range kinda just cancels us out since we're both long range," Rin then looked at All Might as he stopped spinning the raffle machine. "We should be careful of our opponents nonetheless," Midoriya nodded in agreement

"The very first match of the day will be Team... C as the Heroes and E as the villains! You have five minutes to prepare," And at that, the two teams looked at each other. Kamakiri grinned as the other team retreated.

The match ended up being a rather quick one. Kamakiri and Yanagi were a quick and efficient duo, with Yanagi distracting Fukidashi before he could do any damage by pelting him with ash particles which made him cough a lot. And Kamakiri was able to take care of Shishida after a minute or two.

The next match was Kaibara and Shiozaki vs Tokage and Monoma. Tokage ended up sneaking a hand behind the two to touch the bomb and win with Monoma acting as a distraction by copying Tokage's quirk. Midoriya was fascinated by how Copy and Lizard Tail Splitter worked... How did they even work? Monoma's quirk seemed to work by touching someone. And Lizard Tail Splitter had some kind of telekinetic aspect to it.

The third match was Tetsutetsu and Honenuki vs Shoda and Kodai. Tetsutetsu and Honenuki managed to trap Shoda and Kodai. But Tetsutetsu was knocked out by a bolt from Kodai that was enhanced by Twin Impact beforehand after revealing he hadn't eaten a lot of iron that morning and his quirk failed.. All Might simply looked resigned.

After that was Midoriya and Rin vs Kuroiro and Kendo.

And the other two were the villains. So once both teams were in position, Rin looked at Midoriya who looked back at him. "Do you have a plan?" The other boy asked as the two then looked at the door. "Kendo seems like a physical enhancer who's a close range fighter, but Kuroiro can just... show up."

"He could..." Midoriya had seen all of his classmates quirks in the Quirk Apprehension Test. Kuroiro's quirk, Black, let him blend in with Shadows. Which was A) Awesome. And B) Troublesome to deal with. Because neither of them had anything that could manipulate light...

'Don't you dare. Don't you fucking dare. We've had enough bullshit for one day. You are not going to try and manipulate light particles.' Second said, probably pinching the bridge of his nose in One for All.

'Okay there goes that idea!' Midoriya then had another idea. "My quirk lets me move air particles around just like anything else... So theoretically, I could use it and make a miniature tornado or a vortex..."

Rin deadpanned at Midoriya. "Have you tried it before?" Midoriya reluctantly shook his head. "You probably shouldn't try anything you haven't tested unless it's specifically in a place you can do it."

'I like this one.'

Midoriya ignored Second and instead tried to think of another plan. "If Kuroiro can't touch our shadow then he can't get inside of it, right?"

"How will we get him to not enter our shadows?"

At that, Midoriya had an idea.

Shihai Kuroiro wasn't one to be surprised easily.

So, when he tried to sneak up on the enemy, an invisible barrier wasn't something he expected. So, when he hit it he was surprised. He then peaked out of the shadow he was hiding in, there were enough Shadows in the building for Kuroiro to move freely, so he was confide-

Suddenly he was hit in the head. "What was that?" He asked himself as he sunk back into the shadow. He then glanced to the side of him to see his adversaries in the room beside him. He dove toward their shadows, but he was pushed back, He was then hit by a disk with a glowing blue light.

It didn't hurt, but it was surprising enough for him to move backward, and then, Midoriya dashed forward. Kuroiro tried to jump into his shadow so he could capture him, but he found that the same invisible force that pushed him away earlier was pushing him.

Was this a part of Midoriya's quirk?

Before Kuroiro could do anything, he was pinned against the wall. He struggled, tried to get away. "What kind of sorcery is this?" Midoriya's quirk was able to speed objects up... There had to be more to it. A thought then came to Kuroiro's mind as he was pushed further into the wall. 'Air.'

'Fuck.'

"Please give up," Midoriya said as he extended a hand to Kuroiro. The boy who currently looked like a green rabbit smiled at Kuroiro, something that was blatantly obvious even through the mask. And Kuroiro's back was growing more and more uncomfortable. "We don't want to hurt you," Kuroiro saw opportunity. He gave a mischievous grin to Midoriya as he was allowed to slowly come out of his shadow.

"Fine fine," Kuroiro raised his hand. And then he dove.

And then he was hit in the head by a scale. "Trickery..." He groaned and before he could sink back on to the shadows of the floor again, his body gained a blue glow. "What did you do?" He looked up at Midoriya as he tried to move.

"I slowed you down," Midoriya said as Rin appeared and aimed his arm at Kuroiro's head. "We're about to capture you now," And with that, Kuroiro knew he was outmatched as he was hit in the liver by another scale. He groaned and then was tied up by some capture tape.

"Shihai Kuroiro has been captured! One villain remains!" Kuroiro heard All Might announce. And internally he apologised to his teammate as he was laid on his back.

"Kendo will win this, your tricks will not work on her..." Did he actually have that much faith? No. 2 vs 1 was never fair. And those who played dirty were the winners, usually. Midoriya and Rin didn't seem the type to play dirty, then again he was the one who was captured.

So, he had to try and stall for time.

"We have to go," Rin put a hand on Midoriya's shoulder. The other boy nodded and the two began walking away, ignoring Kuroiro who could only hear the footsteps. Kuroiro sighed as he looked up at the roof.

Speed quirks were always stupid. Even if it didn't give the user themselves any speed.

After their plan worked, it was time to face Kendo.

When Midoriya and Rin burst into the room, they both held their hands out like guns. "Put your hands in the air, villain!" Rin said, causing the other two remaining participants in the battle to look at him. He shrunk into himself briefly. "I saw it in an action movie..."

Kendo took that time to grab a crate from the side and throw it at Midoriya and Rin. "I just have to hold you two off," Rin and Midoriya were forced to dodge as they shot out their respective projectiles out at Kendo. 2 of each. Kendo dodged to the left, moving behind a beam as Midoriya's disks followed her.

Rin and Midoriya dashed toward the bomb and Kendo dove out from behind the beam to hit the two. Midoriya managed to dodge but Rin was smacked to the side. "Rin!" Midoriya moved over to his teammate as Kendo stood in front of the bomb.

"Go on without me... I won't make it..."

'Forget what I said earlier.' Second said, sighing as Midoriya helped Rin up.

"You just hit the wall..." Midoriya pulled Rin up just as Kendo threw a barrel at them. Midoriya pushed his hands backward and the air gave out a blue tint as it sent the barrel rocketing toward the right... 'I should thank Kodai later...'

'Less thanking, more fighting.' Second ordered and Midoriya gave an affirmative response as he shot out the final two disks in his gauntlets. They rocketed past Kendo who glanced behind her. The disks quickly circled back to try and hit her.

She dodged and Rin was the one who made the run for it. "Keep her distracted!" Midoriya nodded and ran toward Kendo who was running toward Rin. Midoriya quickly took his shoe off of his foot and threw it at Kendo, using Gearshift in the process.

Kendo moved to the left to dodge, but by then it was too late. "Damnit-" "The bomb has been deactivated! Heroes win!" Kendo sighed as she was cut off by All Might. "Good match, you two," She then looked at Midoriya. "I thought your quirk was just speeding things up?"

With an opportunity to ramble about quirks, Midoriya happily began talking as the three began walking back to their classmates. And All Might privately changed his channel to Midoriya's specifically. "You did well, Young Midoriya! Great job!"

And as Midoriya was dying from the biggest amount of joy he had felt in his life, the Vestiges in One for All were conversing.

"Like, I know that we're stuck here. But I really wanna go commit tax fraud again," Yoichi said as he leaned back in his chair. Just as he saw Midoriya depart for the Train home with two people... Holy shit. "Huh, Nine made another friend!"

First the quiet girl and now the guy with the good taste in movies.

"Good for him," Nana said before looking back to the rest of the Roundtable. "Now, what are we going to do about this mess?" She looked down to reveal a set of cards. "We've been here for the past two days and I'm starting to get tired of it."

"Maybe we would leave sooner if you didn't keep giving everyone a plus four every other turn. Speaking of, how in the fuck do you have like 90 plus fours, Nana?" En asked, turning to his successor with his face shifted into a scowl.

He took Uno very seriously.

"Relax, En," Banjo said, just as Nana placed down a card. It was a plus four. Calmly, Banjo spoke as he pulled out a flamethrower from seemingly nowhere and making Nana gulp. "I say we kill her."

"You can't kill me, I'm already dead!" Nana pointed out, laughing as she kicked her legs up on the Roundtable, deciding that courage was the best thing to show.

"We can murder plus you?" Hikage offered, holding up a ghostly sickle. And Nana blinked as he, Banjo, and En stood up. "Uh..." She turned to Yoichi. "Sorry gotta go!" She opened up a portal to leave, but she was dragged away by the other vestiges, screaming.

Kudou sighed. "Children..."

Bruce laughed. "Hey, at least it's not as bad as the time we played poker with Satan..." Oh yeah, Yoichi remembered that.

It was how he got his freedom!

Kudou dragged a hand across his face. "I hope Eight and Nine don't pick up our habits," He then looked at the screen. "Nine seems like the type to stay away from gambling, at least. So does Eight. Although Eight has his quirks..."

And they couldn't exactly see what he was doing anymore. But maybe Toshinori was still at least a somewhat productive member of society?

Elsewhere, Toshinori Yagi sneezed just before he turned the safety of his favorite rifle off. "That was close," He said before turning to his friend. "Are you ready?" He asked, and the man wearing the Cowboy hat and gas mask nodded.

"Of course, partner," He grabbed both of his pistols, the wind gently blowing in the background as a light illuminated the two. "We'll get yer truck, my house, and my liver back in no time... They won't know what hit 'em!"

With that, the two men stormed inside of the Casino, ready to gamble again.

Chapter 4: Gearshift IV

The vestiges in One for All were starting to like their new entertainment. "So... using it on yourself would be detrimental to your health? How to do you know?" Yui Kodai asked, just after Midoriya had finished explaining every way he could and couldn't use Gearshift that he had found so far.

"It genuinely worries me how he is finding ways to use Gearshift and make it look better than 99% of other quirks," Kudou said as he watched it go on. "They are going to find a way to bend space at some point, I swear."

"...Uh shouldn't you both be eating? You don't want your food to get cold, don't you?" Rin asked as he looked at the other two at the table. Midoriya and Kodai briefly stopped talking about the bullshit explanation Midoriya had just come up with as Kudou was talking before they begrudgingly began eating.

"Relax," Banjo said, manifesting the remote and turning up the volume of the outside world. "If they do, then that just means he'll be a better hero! And if the kid gets his own version of Satan, then he can punt him into the sun or blend him into a smoothie!"

"Well... how are you both feeling about UA?" Midoriya suddenly asked after a minute of silence. "UA's pretty exciting... I don't think it's really set in for me yet. I'm really excited for tomorrow, though!" Knowing Midoriya he was definitely excited to meet Thirteen.

"If he does have his own version of my brother, then I wonder who it'll be," Yoichi put a hand on his chin as he thought about it. "Maybe that one kid with a copy quirk in his class somehow," Or some unknown villain he'd meet sometime.

"I'm content," Kodai responded before taking a sip of some chocolate milk... "I want some!" Bruce lightly punched Yoichi before he could lunge toward the screen. "I'm still waiting a few more days before I can form an opinion, though."

"That's fair," Rin nodded before looking up at Midoriya. "I'm enjoying myself so far. It's nice here. I do think it would be best to wait before really saying anything. Some annoying test or an unexpected accident might come up."

"That's true, but have some fun, kids!" Nana said as the two kids sitting across Midoriya shared their takes... "Now that I think about it though," Nana looked to the rest of her fellow vestiges. "Think anything will happen over the next few years?"

Bruce nodded, "Absolutely. There's been something with each of us," He turned to Yoichi. "The vault for you," Then Kudou, "The-" Kudou glared and Bruce stopped and pointed at himself. "All For One bombing my house," He then turned to Hikage. "The only one who hasn't had something happen to them is Fourth, here."

"That's because I stayed away from the insanity," Hikage said as he read the daily newspaper. Nobody knew how he got it into One for All. Maybe it had something to do with Danger Sense. "And All for One isn't around anymore. So Ninth has a pretty good chance of having a normal tenure."

Suddenly, the Roundtable noticed lots of screaming as all the students burst into panic. Hikage blinked and sighed as he flipped to the gardening page. "I stand corrected,"

"What do we do what do we do?" Midoriya asked as Kodai enlarged their table. The three quickly hopped on top of it to avoid the rest of the students. "Someone's breaking in,"

"Weren't the press at the door earlier? Maybe they tried something..." Kudou then sighed as he opened a portal. "I'll be back," And with that, the Roundtable noticed Midoriya pause as Kudou began feeding him advice.

"Midoriya, are you okay?" Kodai asked as she tapped Midoriya on the shoulder, shaking him slightly as he stood up. "Do you have a plan?" Midoriya nodded and the Roundtable wished they could hear the damned conversation he had with Kudou.

"We need a better remote so we can mute the crowd..." Banjo tried muting the crowd as Midoriya cupped his hands together. "Well... bets on Second adopting the kid in a few months?"

"I give it a week, honestly," Yoichi said before a loud scream pierced everyone's ears.

"ITS JUST THE PRESS, DON'T BE ALARMED TOO MUCH EVERYONE! PLEASE DON'T CRUSH EACH OTHER, THAT'LL ONLY MAKE THIS SITUATION WORSE!" Midoriya shouted and everyone in the room stopped.

"Once he learns how to do things like that without being pushed to do so, that will be great," Kudou said as he sat back in his chair. He then looked at the other One for All ghosts. "But, we still have a problem on our hands."

"We do," Banjo said before holding up the remote. "I may or may not have broken the remote..."

"And our microwave is broken," Nana pointed out as she manifested the microwave they had been using. It was smoking for some reason. "Yoichi tried making hot chocolate again," Yoichi whistled innocently. He was not at blame here.

Kudou sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'm surrounded by idiots."

Elsewhere at UA, Tomura Shigaraki was shuffling through some papers. "Lunch Rush asking for more..." He threw that to the side. "Snipe's Divorce Papers..." He took a second to see why and he saw gambling as the reason. "Those side quests are the worst..." He was tempted to decay that paper, but he didn't as it would give him away.

"Midnight... huh just her paycheck," That was surprising. Shigaraki would have expected her to be in a lawsuit or something... But then again, why would she keep those papers here? This was the teachers lounge... "Hound Dog going on a vacation to Brazil and becoming the number 1 hero there for a day... And Ectoplasm is its number 1 villain."

Shigaraki wasn't surprised. Anything could happen in Brazil.

"Toshinori Yagi getting fan mail from Star and Stripe... Okay, who the fuck is Toshinori Yagi?" He had to be some kind of backwater underground hero... Shigaraki didn't care that much in the end. He then grabbed another paper before taking a look at it. "Eraserhead wearing Nedzu cosplay..."

Shigaraki took that paper. It wasn't what he came for, but it was... Honestly it was just horrifying. He wondered what kind of mission Eraserhead failed for him to wear it... It didn't matter, really. He was just here for... "There we go... Quest Item Achieved."

He had gotten the lesson plans. And with a quick search through them, he could see that Class 1-A was meant to be on a rescue mission tomorrow at 1:00 PM. Now he just had to leave this level and he would be able to finish planning his zerg rush in peace... And question what the fuck was going on with most of UA's NPC's and their personal lives. Seriously what the fuck?

Shigaraki quickly made his way out of the den of Heroes, because at this point he didn't want to be there longer than he needed to be. He had an attack to plan with the fodder he had amassed, and he really didn't want to think about Snipe's divorce or Ectoplasm being the number one Villain in Brazil.

When he reached Kurogiri, the butler looked concerned. "Are you okay, Tomura Shigaraki? You look like you have seen a ghost," He asked in his neutral tone. That was before Shigaraki flashed the Eraserhead picture.

Kurogiri screamed and Shigaraki honestly didn't blame him.

"UA has been breached," Nedzu began before turning to Aizawa immediately. "Code Yellow," Aizawa's face immediately turned as pale as a ghost even though his expression didn't change.

"We know. The press broke in earlier," Power Loader said before looking at Aizawa who was taking the UA staff members emergency rum and pouring it in his coffee. "What's code yellow and why is Aizawa so worried?"

"The past should stay dead," Aizawa responded immediately before turning to Nedzu. "Who? Do you know yet or is that what we're trying to figure out?" He looked prepared to go out and search on his own.

"Security footage shows a man in a hoodie walking into UA. And a part of UA's barrier has been destroyed. All that was found in its place was a pile of ash and a surprisingly well drawn picture of me in Aizawa cosplay," Nedzu then held up the picture but before anyone could take it in, he ripped it to shreds. "Whoever has breached UA has a highly dangerous quirk or an ally with a highly dangerous quirk."

"What did they do?" Toshinori asked as the other staff members began to grow worried. Toshinori was calm however. There were worse things that could happen. It wasn't like someone had found out that he had a crippling gambling addiction or anything.

"From what I can understand so far, they went to the Teachers Lounge and shifted around several important papers. Such as both lesson plans for the first year heroics class since they were in the same binder. That was the only other thing stolen."

"Is someone planning an ol' fashion American style attack on the school?" Snipe asked before everyone looked at him. "What? Why else would they steal the lesson plans?"

"That is a good point. But I do not believe we are dealing with American villains, Snipe. American villains would be loud and proud about their acts of villainy," Nedzu then pressed a button and a projection screen appeared. "Ever since All Might joined UA, the press has been becoming more and more insistent. Not only that, but crime rates have been spiking in the early mornings."

A very nice looking graph appeared showing the crime rates that were double of what they were before. Which, that wasn't bad due to the work All Might had been doing before, but it was still a noticable spike. "Do you think that someone is organizing this?" Kan asked, looking at the infographic.

"Someone could be. But then that brings the question of why they are organizing this. Is it because of All Might being here?" Midnight then looked to Nedzu. "Do you think they'll attack?"

"Attacking UA would be foolish! But, it appears as if there may be some fools who seek to invade our school," Nedzu then opened up the digital copy of the lesson plans on his personal laptop. "It's more than likely that they'll attack during the USJ lesson tomorrow. But which class? And how? That is the real question."

"What will we do, then?" Kan asked, looking over to Aizawa. "Do we cancel the lesson?"

Thirteen looked a bit sad at that but said nothing. Everyone knew why. Rescue lessons were rare and Thirteen loved teaching.

Nedzu shook his head, sliding a new lesson plan onto the table after quickly writing it up. "We don't cancel it. Instead, we merge it into one. Both homeroom teachers will be there as well as All Might and Thirteen. The rest of you will be on standby should something go wrong."

"Isn't that risky though? Why don't we just all wait for them to show up, beat them up, and then have the police on standby?" Power Loader shifted in his seat as Aizawa took the lesson plans.

"We could do that. But, that would be too big of a change. They will retreat. Or they will see the unknown variable and go all out immediately. We don't know what they have! They have someone who can turn things to dust in some way with their quirk. We can't let them get away, so we need to lure them into a false sense of security!"

Nedzu then smiled. "They expected to break into UA without retaliation. We will capture them, and we will do so. Not a single escapee."

Everyone gulped apart from Aizawa and Thirteen. There wasn't going to be blood, there wasn't going to be much violence, but they knew that Nedzu would make it his personal mission to find and track these people down if they escaped. If their employers escaped.

It was a bad day to be a villain.

"Alright, today is a special day," Kan-sensei said as he looked over the class. "You will be picking a class president and a vice president. They will be your class representatives and will speak out for you and help make sure the class is in order," He then pulled out a ballet box, some papers, and some pencils. "You will be doing this by vote," He then handed the various things to the people in front. "Hand those to the people behind you. Then once you're done, those who want to be Class President stand up and explain why you want the position."

He then continued as the class all received the papers and pencils. "Whoever gets the most votes will win. Whoever gets the second most will become Vice President. Anyone who doesn't want to be Class President, just stay still and listen. Whoever wants to come up first, do it now."

'Are you going to try out?' Second asked as Midoriya watched Kendo stand up first. 'You need experience in being a leader, Ninth. You want to be the #1 hero? You need to learn how to inspire people and to be their leader. This is the best opportunity you'll get for a while.'

"I'm going to be honest, I don't think I'd be the best leader. But someone needs to do it, and I don't see many of you willing to stand up," Kendo scanned the room and looked at several people in particular, including Midoriya. "I can make sure we all aren't in anarchy, though. And I can make sure none of us are idiots for a prolonged period of time. Or at least, I can try," She then bowed. "That is all."

"Manly speech!" Tetsutetsu cheered, whistling.

"Indeed," Yanagi also liked the speech, although her excitement was less than Tetsutetsu's.

More of their classmates expressed their thoughts about the speech as Midoriya realized the clock was ticking.

'I wouldn't be a good leader, though!' Midoriya responded as he nervously began tapping the desk. Kendo at least sounded like she could lead, so she would definitely be the winner. 'And I don't know if I'd even be able to win... I'm not good at this, Second.'

'I know,' Second sighed as another student stood up. Monoma. And Midoriya glanced to his... friends? Were they actually friends? Midoriya didn't know. But he could see them looking at him, almost like they were waiting. 'You can do this though, Nine. You can't let an opportunity like this pass you up...' Midoriya was still unconvinced. 'It's what All Might would do.'

Midoriya clenched his fists as he brought himself to nod. 'Alright... I'll do it.' He had too... It's what All Might would do, and Midoriya did want to be a hero like All Might... And the wordless encouragement from his friends made Midoriya feel more confident.

"If I was made class president, I will ensure we are better than our hooligan counterparts in every way!" Monoma began his speech, "I will ensure we train every single day and try three times as hard as them to show the wo-" Kendo chopped his neck and he stopped. "Hey!"

'That kid... he definitely has issues if he's worried about a class rivalry... over a class you haven't even met yet.' Second sounded flabbergasted, and Midoriya couldn't blame him, really. Because... why was Monoma obsessing over their sister class.

"The training part sounds nice and all, but please be respectful to our classmates who we haven't even met yet," Kendo said as Monoma rubbed his neck. He walked back to his seat slowly then.

"We are the better class, we shall not lose to them. I am just letting everyone know of my goals if I were to become leader," He said and Midoriya noticed his smile shake slightly as he sat back down... He had the feeling that he should talk to Monoma sometime later.

"Kendo, please don't hit your classmates," Kan-sensei said, sighing before Kendo nodded. He looked around. "Anyone else?" And at that, Midoriya stood up. He felt the eyes on him, and he didn't really like it. But, he continued to walk as he heard Second urge him to do so. "Midoriya?"

He stood at the front of the glass and gulped then. 'Help?' He asked before getting no response from Second... 'Sh- Crap...' Midoriya looked at the class for a solid minute before starting a speech. "W-We're Class 1-B," He began before taking a calm breath and thinking about what All Might would do. When that didn't work, he decided to just wing it. "We're all going to be heroes, so we all need to look out for each other."

'More.'

Midoriya gulped. "We need to help each other and be a team. Our job is to help people, so we need to help each other. If I'm class president, I will make it my goal to make sure we all get along and we all can support each other. We shouldn't be divided over anything, we should all work together to be heroes," Midoriya personally thought he was doing terribly, but his classmates all were looking at him like he was actually making sense.

Midoriya steeled himself as he prepared his finisher. "We are at UA, training to be heroes, not petty children," He was running out of things to say at this point. "We shouldn't be divided, we should always work together to help each other and to help others because that's the only thing that matters. If I'm elected class president, none of you will have to be alone," He held out a hand. "We have each other, we have our upper classmen, we have our classmates in 1-A. If everyone can work together, then I think we can be the best heroes we can be."

He bowed. "That is all."

When he walked back to his seat, there was silence and he thought he did terrible. At least until he could hear cheering. "That was so manly!" Three guesses as to who said that. But, that was just the start.

"Mm," Kodai was the next one to vocalize a response... If you could call it vocal. But she seemed... Happy? Midoriya was honestly still learning how to read her whenever she wasn't speaking. But she did seem positive.

"I agree. That was an awesome speech, Midoriya," Rin said next and Midoriya was... honestly, he was almost moved to tears. Things had been going well for him over the last few months. He didn't really expect it to last.

Every day that he didn't have All Might ask for One for All back, or for Kacchan to just... show up, it was a good day in Midoriya's eyes.

"Ahem," Kan-sensei coughed to get everyone's attention. "Will anyone else stand up?"

"That election was weirdly balanced," Rin commented as he kept the pinball moving. It was honestly mesmerising to watch in Midoriya's opinion. They were at an arcade, Kodai's suggestion since they had some time left after school. When Midoriya said why he'd be late to dinner, his mother nearly cried.

'I keep telling you she's just happy...' Second sighed.

Midoriya didn't dignify that with a response.

"It was," Kodai commented as she sipped on some kind of drink. Midoriya didn't pay attention to what it was. Apparently some kind of tomato drink? He didn't really know. "Kendo barely won, though," She then turned to Midoriya. "How do you feel about being vice president?"

Midoriya had honestly thought about it and... "I'm nervous," He admitted. Was it hard to admit that he was? Sort of. He was getting used to not being yelled at for saying anything by people his age still. "But Kendo seems responsible... so I shouldn't have to deal with everything."

"That's... fair," Rin leaned over the pinball machine as the ball was hit from side to side. "You have a lot of responsibility still, though," He briefly turned his head to Midoriya and smiled. "I have faith that you will be good for the position though, Midoriya."

"Mm," Kodai nodded and turned to Midoriya, "You are definitely the best choice for vice president that we had, too," That... was both reassuring and not really. But Midoriya took it as a compliment, since... well yeah! It was nice.

Praise? Expectations of him doing good? Friends besides Kacchan? It was all so new still. But Midoriya liked it.

"Thanks," He smiled... He was having a great day, dare he say. There wasn't a thing that could ruin it now. He then looked at Rin. "How are you doing now, Rin?" He was actually really interested to see if Rin would beat the Machine's record.

"Yes, how are you doing? You were at 999833 last time we asked," Kodai threw away her drink then, the bottle clearly being empty. "And how many tickets do you think you will get? If we get enough today we can get the worlds biggest chocolate bar."

"Uh... I beat the machine 2 times over," Rin said before letting out a nervous chuckle. "I haven't stopped. And the ticket counter keeps going up... It's a lot of fun, though!" He said before once again nervously laughing.

"At this rate, the Arcade will owe you tickets," Kodai walked over to the pinball machine, and so did Midoriya. The counter said a thousand. And it was steadily going up. Kodai then looked at Midoriya. "Are you good at any arcade games?"

Midoriya shook his head. "I've never really played any..." He then spotted one of those machines where all you had to do was punch really really hard. And then, Midoriya had an idea. "I might be able to do something, though."

If it made a friend happy, then he'd win all the tickets in the world.

"So... he punched the machine out and broke it with a single punch?" Tetsutetsu asked and Kodai nodded. "Then the arcade staff fixed it, watched him do it again, and then you won all the prizes?" This time, Rin nodded. "That's so manly!" Tetsutetsu turned to Midoriya then. "We've gotta go to the gym together sometime, bro. Teach me your ways."

Midoriya had never encountered such a situation. Nor had he been to an actual gym. But despite that, he nodded. "Yeah sure! I've never actually been to a gym before. It sounds like fun, though!" He needed to make sure his body could properly handle One for All, so more training wouldn't hurt.

"Wait- You've never been? How the he-" "We're here," Tetsutetsu was cut off by the gruff voice of Kan-sensei. "Remember, things have changed last minute, so you will be here with your sister class today. Class 1-A."

Before Monoma could begin speaking, he was shut up by Kendo. "Alright, Vlad-sensei," Kendo stood up and Midoriya took that as his queue to do so as well and awkwardly stand next to her. "Alright everyone, please be civil with the other class at least. Don't let anything Monoma says bother you. I'm sure the other class is nice and we won't have any problems with them."

Everyone began stepping off the bus as Kendo spoke and Midoriya did as well. Immediately, Midoriya locked eyes with a certain red eyed boy. "DEKU!" Before the boy could do anything, the teacher of 1-A wrapped his capture scarf around Katsuki Bakugo, restraining him.

"What are you trying to do, Bakugo?" He asked, his quirk activated and making his hair float and eyes glow red. Midoriya recognised him. Erasurehead. He wanted to fanboy out, but he had instinctually shrunk within himself, almost like a turtle.

"Trying to expose a fraud. What the hell is he doing here?" Bakugo tried to free himself as Midoriya noticed Rin and Kodai move near him. As well as Kendo and Tetsutetsu.

"He's here because he passed the entrance exams," Rin stated and he held his arms out, ready to hit Bakugo in the face with numerous scales. "What are you doing here, trying to attack him unprovoked?"

"There's no way someone like him could pass the entrance exams," Bakugo stopped resisting as he was let go. He didn't move. "A pebble like him has no place in UA. He doesn't even have a quirk!" His classmates looked confused briefly before it looked like a lightbulb had lit up in their mind.

And Midoriya was freaking the heck out since... he hadn't seen Kacchan since before the entrance exams.

He was starting to wish he hadn't seen him again. At all.

"Midoriya is just a late bloomer," Kan-sensei stepped in thankfully. "Now leave my student alone otherwise you will be punished for harassing another student," He looked at the rest of class 1-A who were a mixed of stunned and not surprised. It depended on the student. "Now, everyone head inside."

And without a word, everyone began walking inside, heading to the USJ. Bakugo was glaring at Midoriya, but he was surrounded by his classmates. "Are you okay, Midoriya?" Kodai asked and Midoriya looked up at her.

"I- I am..." He then gulped. "Kacchan is just like that. He doesn't mean any harm..."

"That sounds like BS," Tetsutetsu looked over to Bakugo. "He just sounds like a bully to me," Rin nodded at that as he kept an arm raised in Bakugo's direction. And when they made it inside the USJ, they saw Thirteen. "You know him though, Midoriya?"

Midoriya nodded. "We're childhood friends."

"Sounds more like he's the bully... He tried to attack you, dude," Tetsutetsu walked closer to Midoriya. "We have your back. We're supposed to help each other, right?" Midoriya nodded at that and the happy tears were nearly back again. "So ditch the bully, because that's all he sounds like to me."

"Mm," Kodai tapped the scale on Rin's arm then. "We will not be afraid to retaliate if he tries to attack you or anyone else," Bakugo began to slowly glare at the group, but before he could say anything a boy with tape dispensers in his arms slapped tape over his mouth. "He's a jerk

"He is," Kendo nodded as they closed the doors behind them. "But for now, let's focus on enjoying this. And he seems like the only bad one out of all of class 1-A. So we can at least look forward to working with everyone else," Everyone agreed in their own ways.

"Alright everyone! Welcome to the Unforseen Simulation Joint!" Thirteen began, their levels of excitement rising before they could hear a noise. It wasn't like anything they've heard before and they all turned to see a portal opening.

"All Might isn't here?" The villain stepped out of the portal, revealing all of the hands covering his body. "A shame... maybe if we kill enough kids he'll show up," Various villains poured through the portal then before the portal closed to reveal a rather dapper looking man made of smoke.

Midoriya was reminded of the fact that All Might was running late in the worst way possible.

But, as they felt the ground under them open, everyone in the USJ heard a booming laugh. "HAHAHA! I am here!"

And then they fell.
