Chapter 419 - Chapter 434: The First Galactic War

In the orbital path of the fifth planet—Saturn—within the home star system of the Starfish World...

Over forty black battleships, each estimated to be around 500 meters in length, floated slowly in formation.

They surrounded a single white-and-blue-patterned warship, which was only slightly over 300 meters long.

In addition, small transport shuttles were constantly shuttling back and forth between the planet and the ships.

On the surface of Saturn, a massive excavation effort was underway. Numerous personnel were operating industrial vehicles, digging up various metal ore veins in the surrounding terrain.

The mined ores were dumped into silver metal crates and transported by forklifts into the cargo bays of the shuttles.

The air here was filled with the constant clamor of construction—the roar of machinery in motion, the thunderous noise of heavy vehicles, and the rumbling of shuttles flying back and forth overhead.

In addition, numerous space pirates were stationed around the construction sites—armed with all kinds of weapons, standing guard with serious expressions.

Judging by the cratered, pockmarked ground nearby, this planet likely had some kind of native lifeforms that launched attacks proactively.

At that moment, aboard the lone white warship in orbit—

A blonde woman dressed in a pristine short skirt and draped in a black coat stood silently at the window, arms folded across her chest, gazing out into the stars.

Reflected in the smooth glass, her face was strikingly beautiful, and her figure quite voluptuous.

She appeared to be on the older side, with fine wrinkles beginning to form at the corners of her eyes.

But none of that drew as much attention as her cold, ambitious gaze.

Upon her head was a black pirate tricorne hat, emblazoned on the front with a white bird spreading its wings.

She was the captain of the White Bird and the leader of the Odette Pirates—Odette the First!

Just moments ago, she had watched as nearly half her fleet departed from orbit.

Their objective: to annihilate the armed forces on that blue planet wrapped in a red ribbon-like band.

According to intel sent back from the vanguard warships that had since been lost—

Although the planet possessed an advanced civilization and many individuals with supernatural powers, it hadn't even developed basic interplanetary navigation.

All her forces needed to do was stay out of range and bombard the surface from a distance with their weaponry.

At that point, the enemy's leadership would have no choice but to surrender—and they would be free to plunder and exploit at will.

"This star system is a treasure trove. Every single planet is insanely valuable. If we develop it properly, we won't need to be pirates anymore."

"It's just a shame that the privateering license I acquired a few years ago is now completely useless."

Freedom for the Starfish World? The struggle between the Galactic Empire and the Cosmic Federation?

What the hell did any of that have to do with her?

If this system's resources were as bountiful as she suspected, perhaps one day the Odette lineage itself could become a true player on this vast cosmic chessboard.

At that thought, Captain Odette's lips curled upward in a wild, unrestrained grin.

Her luck was simply too good. To have discovered such a miraculous star system in such a remote sector—wasn't this destiny itself?

...

Starfish World.

At this moment, a massive fleet was deployed at the front of the moon under Zephyr's command. It was centered around twenty-two space carriers and composed mainly of over a hundred aerial battleships that had been temporarily modified for space-to-space combat.

It was just a pity—this battle was bound to result in unimaginable casualties.

Not just Zephyr—everyone present was fully aware of this.

After all, the disparity in warship class between the two sides was just too vast.

Their own aerial warships could barely operate within the thin atmosphere around the moon.

That's why most had already prepared themselves mentally to use their own flesh and blood to form the last line of defense for Starfish.

Their mission was to give their lives if necessary to block the space pirates from breaking into the planet again.

"All units, attention! Ten minutes remain until the enemy arrives. I've said all that needed saying. Just remember one thing—you are fighting for true justice this time. You are fighting for our homeland, for our families, for those we hold dear!"

Zephyr stood in the command room of the base on the moon's surface, speaking solemnly into the Den-Den Mushi connected to every channel.

At that moment, whether they were ground forces stationed on the moon or air force officers aboard the flying warships, everyone listened silently, their expressions resolute.

Even Borsalino and Kaidō were standing silently in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of their respective carrier offices.

Out on the carrier decks, hundreds of air force officers clad in blue coats with the word Justice boldly displayed on their backs stood in tight formation, all equipped with oxygen masks recently developed by the Science Division—every one of them ready for battle.

Most of them had a pair of broad, pristine white wings growing from their backs.

These were elite air force soldiers who had successfully been injected with the Winged Human Enhancement Serum.

As for those officers without white wings, they were all Zoan-type users with innate flying abilities.

Beyond that—

Behind the phalanx of air force officers, two towering figures stood over five meters tall.

These were the Conquerors, created by using Avalo Pizarro's body as the cloning prototype and modified extensively by the Science Division.

...

"Never thought I'd see the day we'd be fighting in outer space~"

Just as Zephyr finished his final pre-battle speech, an excited voice rose from behind.

Zephyr turned his head toward the speaker and replied coldly, "This isn't something to be excited about. Our homeland is under threat, General Ghost Shark of the Army."

But Douglas Bullet showed no concern. "That's war for you. It only gets interesting when it goes both ways. We can't expect to open a Dimensional Gate to invade others without expecting someone to show up at our doorstep. What's really unfortunate is that there aren't many solid places to stand out here in space."

Zephyr, though clearly displeased with Bullet's attitude, could only shake his head in silence, suppressing the reprimands he wanted to give—after all, the man was now a General.

His gaze then shifted to the blonde woman standing silently behind Bullet.

Leone—originally from the Teigu World.

Now, she was a Major General in the Army Headquarters, and—unfortunately—Bullet's adjutant.

That alone was enough to irk Zephyr.

He had hoped that every General would choose adjutants from among Starfish's native officers.

But Borsalino, Bullet, and even that bastard Kuzan had all insisted on picking outsiders.

The time that followed felt especially unbearable.

The Five Elders of the World Government, along with military leaders like Kong, Sengoku, Garp, Tsuru, and even top officials from the Department of Public Security—such as Dragon, Bartholomew Kuma, Katakuri, and Gasparde—were all closely watching the situation.

Suddenly—

Zephyr, Bullet, Borsalino, and Kaidō all instinctively turned to face the same direction.

From that spot, a black warship abruptly appeared. Its structure was twisted and menacing, with a skull insignia painted on the hull—wearing a wide-brimmed orange-yellow hat.

Then came a second ship, a third, a fourth...

As soon as they arrived, they didn't pause or coordinate. All over their hulls, cannons—large and small—lit up with a sinister green glow.

Clearly, they had no intention of engaging at close range. They were relying on their superior range to unleash overwhelming firepower from a distance!

The expressions of the World Government's air force officers immediately changed—stunned.

From the looks of it, were they just supposed to sit there and get pounded?

In the next instant, beams of eerie green energy tore across the vast black expanse of space.

"So rude… That's just plain cheating~"

Suddenly, a brilliant golden beam shot out from within the air force fleet.

"Yasakani no Magatama!"

With Borsalino's voice—tinged with reluctant resignation—a massive four-pointed light burst forth into the void.

Countless golden beams radiated outward like celestial blossoms, forming a dense barrage that clashed head-on with the incoming green volley.

But this time, the enemy had brought forty-five space warships.

Borsalino alone clearly couldn't hold them all back.

And so, Kaidō emerged—transforming into a gigantic azure dragon, coiling into the battlefield from the other side of the void.

With a mighty sweep of his thunder-scale-covered tail, he unleashed a tidal wave of violet lightning.

And thus, the World Government's first cosmic war officially began.
