Sampling the same number of people from different social classes, income levels, and educational backgrounds, the questionnaire survey found that the more disadvantaged and lower-income groups were, the more devout their religious beliefs. Practically all of the most steadfast and devout believers in all religions were the poorest people with nothing to their name.

Honestly, this is hardly surprising.

The harsher life is, the more people cling to their faith—it's the only thing they can rely on, and the only thing no one else can take from them.

The mentality of citizens of the republic is the same.

Perhaps using religion for comparison is somewhat inappropriate, but the current mindset of citizens of the republic indeed closely resembles that of the poor under the sway of religious devotion.
