The Finals from Hell: A Hard Time
The room was silent after the match between the students and Cementoss. Even though, it was short-lived, it gave out one important message: We're out to get you. Don't think we'll go a little easy on you.
Momo looked with an intrigued look, "I don't think that the matchup was a coincidence. The difference in their abilities is too obvious to be ignored…" She then remembered what the teachers said, "…right, every one of our matches is designed to fight our weakness or anything else."
Setsuna added, "And the teachers are still silent about who is being pinned against whom." The girl looked at the screen as Cementoss helped Kirishima out of the ground, and called in a medical bit to carry the boys to rest after their exam, "They aren't planning to make this easy for us. That's a given."
Recovery Girl smiled for her seat, "Oh dearies, just be warned that all the teachers are going to try and squash you like bugs, no pun intended…" She looked at the resident bug boy who shrugged, "…to force you to go plus ultra." Her face darkened, "Though I did warn them not to overdo it."
In every testing arena, every hero waiting for the team that will face them suddenly shivered.
Recovery Girl carried on, "All the tests that you're about to go through are designed to force you out of your comfort zone," the woman looked at the screen replaying the match once more, "For example, those two had quirks with time limits against an opponent with no such thing. They had to forgo the direct approach and try to find another way. In the end, one did and the other just followed his lead and made victory possible by playing bait."
Izuku was furiously writing inside his notebook making sure not to miss anything when the speakers yelled, "Jurato Shishida and Kouji Koda, please head to the bus that will take you to the examination site." The two teens looked at each other and walked to the door hoping for the best.
Izuku then yelled, "Good luck, Koda, Shishida. I hope that you pass the final exam." The boy looked at him and smiled nodding. Kouji waved shyly as he thanked him in sign language for his kind words only for Izuku to reply in sign language shocking the boy as he walked out.
Setsuna poked the green-haired boy and said, "Dude, do you know sign language? That's awesome. You have to teach me someday." The girl then tilted her head, "Why do you know sign language, to begin with?" the boy shrugged his shoulders making the girl shrug herself.
Back with Shishida, he was sitting with the Koda. The beast boy coughed into his fist and said, "I suppose that it would be a good idea to introduce ourselves to make our match easier to win."
The rock-headed boy quietly began talking, "My name is Kouji Koda. My quirk is anivoice. I can talk to animals and make them help me whether through gathering information, providing support, or fighting…" he fidgeted a little, "… though I kinda tend to never involve them in any fighting because I don't want to hurt them too much." Shishida nodded his head.
The beast boy then said, "I guess that it's my turn right now. My name is Jurato Shishida. My quirk is beast; it gives me the ability to transform into a beast-like state where I have increased strength, speed, and many more, however," he paused a bit, "if I stay in it too much, I could get out of control and become on the same mental capacity of a cornered rat fighting anything that stands in the way of my survival." He then noted the boy looked worried so he added, "Though I did recently begin to practice yoga and meditation so it helped me become better at this and control my transformation much better than before, so there's no need to worry."
They then arrived at the site. Once they entered it, the timer began. Unlike the last match where the teacher was waiting for the students, this time he certainly wasn't. they began to walk in the site which was a huge forest. This gave Shishida a vague idea of the identity of the teacher, but he wasn't too sure. Koda on the other hand was shivering because he was seeing too many bugs which creeped him out a lot; he really never liked bugs no matter how useful they can be.
A loud howl caught their attention as someone raced from the woods and tried to attack Koda, but Shishida turned beast and grabbed the boy saving him at the last moment. The beast boy looked, "Hound Dog-sensei, I should have suspected this. You're the only person who can push me to my limits. It makes sense that I will be against you…"
Hound Dog smirked, "The true quesstion is: Are going to lose yourself and harm your partner, or are going to succeed in fighting and defeating me?"
Back when the teachers were still organizing the matches, Hound Dog said, "Shishida and Koda are going to fight me in the forest zone of U.A.; I'm the only one who can push them to their limits."
Vlad agreed, "Yes, that would be useful. It would prove a challenge for Shishida to fight given that he idolizes you, or maybe not if he tries to one-up you…" the blood hero carried on, "It will be a battle of wills of someone who has long mastered his quirk against a newbie."
Aizawa carried on, "And Koda will be the victory card. In any normal case, Shishida won't be able to win on his own…" The nighttime hero continued, "The boy is soft-spoken, but that could kill him at some point or another. What will he do when he's faced with two juggernauts of beast-like behavior? He will be forced to take charge and perhaps get him over some reservations he has whether be it his fear of bugs, or his refusal to use animals to attack. He needs to contribute to this fight somehow."
Hound Dog nodded his head, and Nezu smiled, "Then it's accepted Hound vs Shishida and Koda."
Back in the test zone, Shishida growled looking at Koda but calmed down, "Sir Koda, I humbly request that you be my eyes in the sky. I'll go and fight Hound Dog-sensei." The shy boy nodded and went to look for some birds to help him with this mention.
Shishida attacked Hound Dog with a swipe from his claws, but the hero merely tilted his body to the side kneeing the beast boy in the gut. The boy then went for a bite, but the dog hero grabbed him by the jaw lifted him in the air, and threw him to the side. "You have to try better than that, little cub."
Hound Dog then attacked him punching him in the face before grabbing him and slamming his foot into his gut. The boy rolled on the ground. Hound Dog then said, "You still need a lot of training to reach my level. If I was a real villain, I would've eaten at least 5 people by now as dog kibble."
The beast boy then launched him toward the hero faking a right hook, but he went for a head-butt. The hero looked at him and growled, "Playtime's over. Let the real king of the jungle be declared."
The two then ran toward each other on all fours. The beast boy tried to swipe at the hero, but he failed earning a slash on his back for all his effort. The hero then jumped above the boy who charged at him ax-kicking him in the back making him stumble. The hero then heard shuffling in the distance.
He then saw Koda looking around confused seeing nothing, but bugs everywhere. He smiled, "There's something in the animal kingdom where animals recognize whose top dog, so tell me, Koda…" The hero walked slowly toward him, "Who do you think is the top dog here? Me or the little birds you are trying to call?" the hero then lifted his hand to strike as Koda put his arms up in defense.
But something rammed into him from behind causing the man to hit the ground. In front of them, Shishida was growling like a beast. Hound Dog looked at him and smirked, "That makes you easier to take down. You aren't being yourself. You lost control due to your anger."
Koda looked at him and said, "Shishida, please calm down…" The beast boy looked at him and growled at him making the shy boy go silent. The beast boy then lifted his paw and tried to swing it down but stopped himself. Instead, he looked at Hound Dog and then at Koda. He then charged at Hound Dog growling like a caged animal trying to be set free.
Back in the observation room, Izuku paled, "I never thought Hound Dog-sensei could be so brutal." Everyone else nodded their heads, "I mean he usually looks as gentle as a butterfly whenever I talk to him during my therapy sessions with him."
Recovery Girl then said, "Oh dearie, don't worry. He's a trained professional. He won't hurt them much," she tightened her fist on her cane, "I told him so."
Setsuna then commented seeing how her teacher socked the boy in the jaw, "He sure isn't giving room to breathe. I don't think I can watch it anymore. It looks like a one-sided beatdown."
Shoda then said, "This battle is something that Shishida needs to learn something from it…" he then added, "I presume that he needs to learn self-control, and not to allow himself to be swept by his emotions or at least control himself much better in his beast form. He seemed that he almost wanted to attack Koda, but then stopped, so that's progress I think." The others nodded.
Back with Shishida, the boy was heavily injured and visibly tired as he swung a sloppy right hook, but the hero grabbed it and head-butted him. The boy tumbled back a little before standing up and attacking again. He tried to swipe at him, but the animal man grabbed him socking his face.
The boy growled loudly but felt a hand pulling him back. He looked at Koda and growled, "Please, Shishida. Control yourself. This isn't you. You can't beat him…" The boy seemed to calm down and regain control, but he saw Hound Dog approaching and attempting to hit Koda. He then quickly grabbed the boy and bolted into the forest as the speakers announced that half the time has passed.
The dog hero yelled, "You can run, but you can't hide from me." He then followed them, but he saw Shishida's smell everywhere. He looked and saw small droplets of blood on different tree bark, "Nice move, but you need to do better than that." He then continued his hunt for them.
In the distance, Shishida sat down turning into his human mode. He looked at Koda, "Thank you for helping snap out of it. As I said, I tried meditation and yoga to help me have better control and those around me to help them have an easier time snapping me out of my deranged state."
The boy nodded his head slowly. He then asked Shishida, "Why were you putting some blood drops on the trees that we were passing by?" Shishida then explained that he did that to confuse their teacher giving them time to prepare for their counterattack. Koda then explained that Hound Dog have scared away like the other animals before they came.
The beast teen then suggested, "Why don't you use bugs? If used in sufficient amounts, they can cause our teacher to become uncomfortable and force him…" The boy looked at the teen, but he saw him shivering in fear, "I assume you're afraid of bugs."
The teen nodded his head, but Shishida walked up to him and said, "Do you know that I'm sometimes afraid of my own quirk?" the other teen shook his head, "When I was younger, my quirk caused me to hurt my sister, I was so afraid of it. My dad then told me that if I wanted to make it up to her, I have to train my quirk to the best of my abilities and face my fears to make sure it never happens again."
Koda calmed down as Shishida said, "So all I ask Koda is that you help me with a small plan of mine to win this fight against our teacher. Because we're heroes, and heroes have to rise to face difficulties."
Koda rubbed the back of his head, "I don't know. I'm really afraid of bugs. I don't know if I can…"
Shishida cut him off, "But what if someone's life was in danger, and you saw let's say umm… a venomous spider that can paralyze the villain. Would let that person die, or will you overcome your fear?" the rock-headed boy knew that Shishida was right, but he was so afraid of bugs.
He then remembered his mother and father. He remembered how proud they were when he told them that he made it in U.A.'s hero course. They told him how brave and amazing he was.
The boy gulped in fear and walked toward the ground and began to say, "My little friends, hear me out…" On the side, Shishida smiled satisfied with the plan, though it would be a little bit itchy for him.
Hound Dog was still on the hunt till he heard someone yell out, "Hound Dog-sensei, I'm here for a rematch." The boy then turned into his beast mode and took deep breaths, 'Remember that you're the one in control, not your quirk. You wield it, not the other way around. I allowed it to control me at the beginning, but I was able to keep my sanity just enough to not harm my comrades, but now I must stay in control.' The boy beast rushed at his teacher.
the dog hero replied, "Where's your little friend? Did you ditch him to assert your dominance as top dog in these woods?" the boy growled at him but dodged a roundhouse kick the hero threw.
The boy then threw a swipe at the hero which the man blocked by grabbing his arm and saying, "Not bad, Shishida. You're still in control, but still not good enough." He then grabbed his student in a chokehold but was shocked when Koda came out of the woods shouting something.
The boy then yelled, "Now my little friends, attack that man into submission." The dog hero didn't understand whom the boy was talking about till his skin began to get a little bit itchy.
The man looked at Shishida. The boy then turned into his normal mode, "It seems that the little passengers I was carrying made their way onto your body, Hound Dog-sensei. Even the strongest predator can't handle bugs make food out of their skin."
The man then threw the boy to the ground and began to scratch himself. He then heard Koda say, "If you give, I will let them get off you."
The dog hero then said, "Fine, fine, you pass. You managed to defeat me. I give up." Shishida then slapped the cuffs on his hands and Koda told the bugs to leave his body.
In the observation room, Recovery Girl slammed her head on the desk, "Seriously bugs? That's what took him down."
Setsuna then said, "You don't know how annoying bugs can be to mutants especially ones with fur."
The others were afraid of what happened as Izuku said, "Shishida, Koda. That was cruel."
Back in the examination area, Hound Dog walked up to both students, "Good Work, both of you."
Shishida then said, "I don't think I did much. I lost control…" The dog hero stopped him, "I was like you when I was your age, but today you proved that you can control yourself even if you lose it. And Koda, you managed to keep a cool head even when we were fighting and overcame your fear for the greater good, so I can now happily announce the following…"
A speaker cut him off, "Jurota Shishida and Kouji Koda has passed the final exam." The dog hero looked at the speaker and said, "Yeah, what that thing said. Now let's go back to the observation room." They all walked to the bus and returned to the building where everyone congratulated them for passing the final exam. Both nodded their heads, but Shishida went to take a shower to get the bugs out of his fur.
In the observation room, all the students were waiting for the next match when the speakers blared into life and said, "Shihai Kuroiro and Kyoka Jiro. Please head to the bus that will take you to the examination site." The two students stood up and headed to the door, but Kinoko stopped Shihai.
The girl then hugged the boy telling him, "Consider this as a good luck charm before the exam." The boy nodded his head as he sped outside the room to cool his head off.
Everyone looked at the girl and she said, "What? he's my friend and I wanted to wish him good luck."
Setsuna was smiling mischievously after she hid her phone away, 'I finally got you, mushroom fairy.'
The two students sat in silence, but Jiro coughed into her fist, "Well since we're about to work together, I'll let the ball begin to roll. My name is Kyoka Jiro and my quirk is earphone jack."
The black-skinned boy replied, "I'm Shihai Kuroiro. My quirk is black which allows me to merge with anything that contains the color black no matter how small it is. It isn't much, but it makes for a good underground hero." the boy looked at the window and saw that they arrived at the testing site.
It seemed to be a small city. The girl then said, "Well, here goes nothing I hope." They both exited the bus and headed inside the area as the match began.
The earphone jack girl then used her quirk to locate her opponent. She was shocked when she heard giggling coming from around the corner. She looked at her teammate and said, "There's a woman around the corner. Go and handcuff here."
The boy raised an eyebrow in confusion but went nonetheless toward the location.
The boy then hopped inside the shadow of the buildings making his way there, 'Something doesn't feel right. You can't find your opponent this quickly. Unless…" he rounded the corner when a bright light shone on the shadow, he was using forcing him out before something shot hitting him in his stomach, '…it's a trap, and they want us to find them.'
He was then barged by tennis balls from a machine causing him to run back from where he came only to see Jiro trapped in some contraption made out of glass. He looked and saw a dial on it. It was a safe that had sound resistance given that the girl was using her speakers to break and there was no shatter on the glass.
The boy then took out his lock-picking kit and began working on it till he freed the girl in one minute.
The girl looked at him and said, "I don't want to know why you know this, but what happened back there? all I saw was a bright flash from the corner and when I went to help you something fell on my head." The girl was then tackled to the ground by the boy as something whizzed by them. It was darts.
The boy then said, "Who the hell is this? Nobody from our teachers has the ability to determine if I reached them. Even Hound Dog can't sniff me out when I'm in the shadows."
The girl then pushed him off her with a blush on her face, "I don't know." She then plugged her earphone jacks into the ground. She listened carefully and heard something, 'The little kitties fell hard for my trick, Nezu. You're right. Torturing them is the funniest thing ever.'
"What the fuck?" the girl said, "She knew that you were coming to her. Did Midoriya's notes say anything about a teacher that can sense and locate people?"
The boy shook his head, "No, not that I know of. Midoriya's notes talked about all the teachers, but even the one with the sonar can't locate me moving in the shadows."
They then heard the sound of machine guns. They looked and saw machine guns mounted on the roofs of the buildings. Shihai then said, "I'll disable some of them while you blast them."
The boy tried to jump into the shadows but suddenly lights shone onto the streets depriving him of the ability to use his quirk. He then ran into an alleyway only to be smeared by something that prevented him from using the shadows, 'Who the fuck is this?'
Jiro wasn't fairing any better. The guns were high up in the buildings so she was forced to run and hide with Kuroiro who was removing something from his clothes.
Both the boy and the girl looked at each other yelling, "Who the hell are we fighting?"
On a building that saw everything, a green-haired woman was laughing her ass off.
In the observation room, the students were shocked to see their classmates outclassed so severely.
Kinoko then asked, "Who the hell is that lady? And what is she doing here? And how can she tell what Kuroiro can do before he even moves?" everyone looked at her and nodded their heads.
Izuku then answered her, "That's Ragdoll from the Wild Wild Pussy Cats." The boy then began to scramble furiously into his notebook, "It makes sense that she is the one that is fighting them."
Ochako then asked him, "What do you mean by that, Midoriya? Their quirks seem like a perfect fit together." She rubbed the back of her head, "How is she doing this?"
Izuku replied, "Ragdoll's quirk is search. She can tag 100 people at the same time telling her their weaknesses, strengths, abilities, quirks," he then tapped his notebook, "And where they are at any given moment as all as they are in her range. For her, she can see their moves without even thinking about it. She will mostly likely lead them in a goose chase around the entire area till the time runs out." The boy then added, "Winning against her is hard, especially for people who depend on stealth and surprise like Jiro and Kuroiro. The best option is to run and call for reinforcements."
Back in the testing grounds, both Jiro and Kuroiro had many bruises, cuts, and burn marks. Jiro looked at her partner, "We have to retreat. She can tell our every move. There's no way we can catch her. The best we can do is run and call for help." The boy nodded his head removing a needle from it.
They then began to race toward the gate which Jiro located using her quirk. When they finally reached it, their eyes were wide open… they saw a green-haired lady with an army of robots waiting for them.
The woman laughed, "You kittens finally made it here. Took a while, but don't worry; the fun time is far from over." She then pressed a button and the robots attacked. The students fought with all their might, as Jiro blasted them with her boots and entered them from dark cracks, and tore them down from the inside out.
Jiro then saw a charred rocket that a 3-pointer launched at her and smirked. He nudged Shihai who got the message. Ragdoll was currently laughing so much that she was distracted when Jiro used her speakers to launch a rocket at her, but the woman dodged saying, "You missed me."
The girl smirked, "Did I really miss you or did I have another target in mind?"
The woman looked behind her and saw Shihai emerge from the black char on the rocket. He looked at her pressing the reinforcement button, "Your quirk is remarkable, but you got distracted by the fun you were having beating us around…" he then walked through the gate before the cat lady can do anything, "…so you gave us our checkmate." The alarms blared announcing their success.
The speakers then said, "Shihai Kuroiro and Kyoka Jiro have passed the final exam." The woman slumped to the ground with a sad expression, "Damn it, I was having so much fun."
The girl and the boy then fell to the ground as Shihai said, "I think we need medical attention."
Two medical bots came and took the two students away as Ragdoll said, "Nice work there, kitties. You were pinned against someone who can neutralize both f your abilities, but you came on top. You found a way to trick me and manage to call for help because you knew that there was no time to defeat me or capture me. Good job, see you both at summer camp." The woman then jumped away.
The two students looked at her with shock, "WE'LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH HER FOR AN ENTIRE SUMMER." They promptly passed out with the newly presented information.
In the observation room, Izuku was writing down furiously in his notebook. "I see so there is a way to trick Ragdoll's quirk. If she's distracted long enough, she can miss some details and won't notice them. This is very interesting." The boy then put his notebook away as he saw Kinoko was in the room.
The boy looked around and asked, "Hey, where's Komori? I don't see her anymore."
Setsuna pointed to the door, "She went a while ago to check on Kuroiro." The girl looked at the screen where they fought Ragdoll, "Can't blame her. I mean he looked like shit when they carried him out of the artificial city. I just hope that we don't have to face someone like that." Somewhere, a rat was laughing while splashing his tea at her comment.
Momo then said, "Please don't tempt the forces of fate, Setsuna." Both of them looked at her, "I heard that when someone says 'this can't get any worse', it usually gets way worse."
Both of them wanted to argue, but they nodded their heads remembering all the times that occurred.
Kyoka came through the door as Denki held her, "Man, you sure took quite the beating."
The girl popped her shoulder back into its place. "Tell me about it." The girl then bent her back backward cracking it, "She made fools of us. Every time we thought we found her; it was a trap. I think I still have some paintball shoved up in my…"
Momo put a hand on her mouth, "Now, now, Kyoka. No need for fool language. The teachers did say that they wanted to steamroll us. It is to be expected that they would do this."
The girl pushed her hand away saying, "Yeah, yeah, whatever helps you sleep at night, Mom." The rich girl blushed as she began denying the accusations of her being the class's mother, while Izuku and Setsuna laughed with Jiro from the sidelines.
The speakers then blared again to life, "Ibara Shiozaki and Tsuyu Asui, please head to the bus that will take you to your examination site." The two girls looked at each other and nodded their heads.
They both stood up to leave, but Awase called out to Shiozaki, "Shiozaki, wait up. I have to give you something." The girl looked at him confused as he put something in her hand. The girl looked and saw it was a small crucifix necklace, "I bought this for you. You know a good luck charm. I wanted to give it to you on your birthday, but it seemed more appropriate now."
The girl had a huge blush on her face, "Thank you, Awase. I will cherish it deeply." She then quickly walked outside the room with Asui who had a small smile on her face.
The bandana-wearing teen then looked and saw everyone staring at him causing him to say, "Take a picture. It might last longer. What are you looking it anyways?"
In the bus, Ibara looked at Tsuyu and said, "I suppose it is best that we get more acquainted with our powers to force a defense and offensive strategy against any teacher we might face." The frog girl nodded her head, "I'll begin; my quirk is vines. Obviously, my hair is made up of vines that I use for various purposes such as capturing, weight lifting, and binding opponents and mostly recently fighting, though I'd prefer I don't use it for that."
The frog girl nodded her head, "That's a strong quirk you have there, Shiozaki. I guess it's my turn. My quirk is frog. I'm pretty sure it's self-explanatory. I can do anything a frog can do. I can climb walls, throw my tongue to large distances, secrete a mildly toxic poison, and store stuff in my stomach to spit them out later if I need them… forget about the last one, it's kinda useless."
Ibara shook her head, "No not really. In the field of heroics, anything is necessary." The bus then arrived and the two students entered what appeared to be a mall complex.
The girls walked in and saw nobody inside the building. Ibara wandered a little bit forward, but she then heard Tsuyu yell, "Duck" Through sheer instinct, the girl managed to duck under a wooden leg courtesy of their math teacher, Ectoplasm.
The girl then grabbed the leg pulling him closer kneeing him in the stomach and using her vines to squeeze him till the clone disappeared. Tsuyu approached her, "For someone who hates violence, you sure know how to give a good fight."
The girl scratched her cheek, "I asked Kamui Woods to teach me self-defense." The girls then heard shuffling around and they looked to see a bunch of Ectoplasm clones standing in front of them.
One of them then said, "Be careful children, and don't lose focus because the teachers will destroy you, and we aren't planning on holding back a bit."
Tsuyu then jumped to the wall and launched herself at one of the clones kicking away. Shiozaki then used her vines to destroy one of them. One of the clones formed in front of her, but she grabbed his arm and threw him over her shoulder before using her vines to disintegrate him.
The girl then felt Tsuyu's tongue wrap around her waist and lift her to the second floor of the building.
Ibara looked around and saw a couple of Ectoplams's clones, "We took down there about three to 6 clones. That means he's down to 26 clones." Tsuyu hummed alongside her as she kicked another clone off the railing, "Alright, make that, 25 clones."
The frog girl then hummed, "He can always make them again, or he can use that giant clone of his. We have to have a counter against that." Ibara nodded her head. She is thankful to Izuku for sharing his notes about the heroes and their teachers.
She then noted something odd. It was a clone that was bigger than the others. The clone then said, "You two aren't the only ones with new tricks up their sleeves."
In the observation room, the students were watching the fight. The girls were doing pretty well till the new clone appeared and managed to put up quite a fight. It took the combined might of Tsuyu and Shiozaki to finally take it down, but they were exhausted.
Recovery Girl then said, "Our teachers found new ways to use their quirks, so they decided to bust them out while fighting the students." She then looked at Izuku, "The teachers took inspiration from your notes." The boy shrank down on himself as the rest of the student body glared in his direction.
The boy then said, "But I never gave them… my notebook…" he remembered when he first started school when he gave his notebook to his teacher. He rubbed the back of his head, "Sorry, guys"
Setsuna shook her head, "Don't sweat, Izuchan." She looked at the screen. "Now what are we seeing here? And what is the point of teaming them up?"
Recovery Girl then said, "Well, as shown although good in self-defense, Shiozaki is mostly long-range. Tsuyu comes in with providing support. Plus, the frog girl also helps the other one stay calm when she's ambushed or is under stress through her mature personality."
They then saw them enter another part of the mall where they saw Ectoplasm standing there waiting for them. Izuku then said, "They need to have something up their sleeve or else it's over for them."
Back with the girls, they looked down and saw their math teacher standing down there. they managed to finish off all the clones even the ones Izuku didn't know about like the big one or the one with two arms. Now, all they needed to do is either pass him or cuff him.
The hero looked in their direction and said, "So you finally came here, kids." He chuckled a little, "Don't think this means that you managed to defeat me. Because I still have an ace up my sleeve."
He then formed his giant clone shocking both students due to its humongous size. He then said, "AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION BITE." The giant clone opened its mouth and attempted to bite down on them. He looked and saw that only Ibara was trapped with one of her hands out holding the cuffs.
Before he managed to grab Ibara, the girl managed to use her vines to throw Tsuyu out of the way knowing that she had the greatest chance of defeating him.
Ectoplasm then said, "Smart, you used the fact if I used my giant clone, I can't use any other ones." He then looked around and said, "You threw away your partner to help her arrest me, but can she do it."
The girl smiled, "We will win, Ectoplams-sensei." The hero laughed as he saw something descend upon him. He looked and blocked a kick from the frog girl and pushed her to the side.
He then ran and kicked her in the abdomen, "You both did very well, but your winning streak will end here." he then ran to the girl who jumped to the side.
Tsuyu attempted to land a kick, but the girl was launched to a pillar near the wall causing her to throw up something. The teacher felt bad, but he will help her when the exam was done, they only had a few minutes left anyway.
Ibara then yelled from her prison, "Tsuyu, catch." The girl threw the cuffs at the mutant who jumped and caught them. The frog girl looked at her teacher and continued to fight with him. They exchanged blows, but in the end, the experienced man proved to be too much for her.
Ectoplasm then said holding the cuffs she had, "You fought hard, Asui. I'll make sure that I carry that on to Aizawa, but this will end now." The girl looked at him smugly so he asked, "What's so funny?"
Tsuyu tilted her head, "Nothing. It's just that you took so long to deal with the distraction." The man didn't understand what she meant till he felt a couple of vines wrap around his arms and torso. He tried to struggle, but just like an anaconda, they tightened their grip. this was then followed by a click over his wrist.
The speaker blared into life, "Ibara Shiozaki and Tsuyu Asui have both passed the final exam."
The man was shocked. He swore that he had the cuffs, so where did they get the other ones? He then remembered that Tsuyu spat out something. It must have been her pair of cuffs…
But that still doesn't explain how Shiozaki freed some of her vines to reach him, he should have been able to see her and stop them before they reached him.
Ectoplasm then said, "I'm impressed that you both managed to beat me." He then looked at Ibara, "But I must ask; how were you able to sneak that vine on me without me seeing it."
"Well, it was easy, Ectoplasm-sensei," Ibara began her explanation, "Before you managed to trap me in your giant clone, I used my vines not just only to throw Tsuyu away, but also to extend some of my vines long enough so they'll be free out of the giant clone and I'll be able to control them. After that, I used the many columns to slither my vines against them staying out of sight till I managed to trap you."
The man clapped his hand, "Impressive, young Shiozaki. That was a truly brilliant plan." He then pointed to two medical bots, "Now, if you feel tired, these bots will take you to the infirmary." The vine-haired girl nodded her head before flopping on one of the stretchers with Asui following her lead.
The teacher chuckled a bit, "Hahaha, they both seem to have a bright future ahead of them." He then walked to the entrance, "I just hope nothing blocks their path. It would be a shame." A mysterious mist then appeared engulfing the hero making him disappear when it went away a second later.
In the observation room, several students were as pale as a sheet as Tokage asked, "What the hell happened to Ectoplasm-sensei? Don't tell me he's an actual ghost." The girl was afraid of ghosts severely so she decided to go to Izuku for protection.
Recovery Girl then said, "Well, there are many theories going on about him, so it's anyone's guess." The students all paled as Recovery Girl chuckled, 'This trick of his never gets old. It's entertaining.'
The doors of the observation room were opened as Asui and Shiozaki strolled in with happy expressions, and Ibara was drinking water to rehydrate herself.
Awase walked up to her, "Congrats on passing the exam, Shiozaki. You were great out there." the girl blushed looking away, but Tsuyu then interrupted the moment, "What about me? Am I chopped liver? I was part of this test too you know."
The boy looked at her, "Oh yeah, umm… you were good too." He then went back to praising Ibara.
Both classes looked at him and sweat-dropped, 'He doesn't even hide the fact that he likes her…' They then looked at Ibara who was extremely bashful, but still accepted the praise with a smile on her, 'And who knew that Shiozaki/Ibara of all people would have a thing for bad boys?'
Tsuyu then said, "Well, we can say that the exam ended quite nicely. I mean the unexpected additions from Ectoplasm's new clones were surprising…" Everyone looked at Izuku who was whistling, "…but we managed to do and we succeeded, so that's good."
Izuku then said, "If it's worth anything, I'm really sorry about this."
Tsuyu looked at him and hummed, "No not really. It doesn't change the fact that we were taken by surprise and we were almost creamed and defeated." The boy deflated in defeat as Setsuna patted him on the back to cheer him up.
The speakers then blared to life, "Reiko Yanagi and Tenya Iida, please report to the bus that will take you to the examination area." The girl looked at her partner who apparently left her behind.
She frowned under her mask, "Well, that's not a good beginning. I hope he doesn't throw away our exam for his wounded pride." She then stood up and followed him to the bus.
Momo sighed and cursed under her breath, "Damn it, Iida. I hope for your sake that you put your petty grudge against Midoriya aside for this match. I don't want you to fail."
On the bus, Reiko didn't have a good feeling about this. The boy wasn't even acknowledging her. He looked like a man on a mission, and she knew what he was planning; he was planning to try and defeat the teacher they were fighting on his own in a misguided attempt to prove himself to somebody that managed to outclass him in something.
The girl wasn't a pushover though… her grade was on the line, so she wasn't planning to allow Iida's pride to fail her not in a million years.
She looked at him and said, "Iida-san, I hope today will reach a common ground for us to work efficiently together so we can find our utmost desire for success…" the girl stopped in her tracks as she saw the boy wasn't paying attention to her annoying her a little bit.
She then coughed into her hand making the boy glance at her and look away immediately afterward with the only thought on his head, 'This mess is all his fault. If he didn't interfere with my fight with Stain, that monster would have been killed. I had everything under control. I'll show him. I'll make you proud, Tensei. I'll win today. I don't need anyone's help in defeating whomever we fight.'
Reiko, on the other hand, frowned. 'Ok, this is ridiculous. I can tell from the look in his eyes that he's planning to go solo. I can't allow this to happen. Not with my grade on the line."
The girl then took out a small screw from her pocket and threw it at the boy who looked at her, "What can I help you with, Yanagi?" He said with anger barely restrained in his voice.
Reiko now had a huge tick mark on her head, but she steeled through, "Well, I thought since we're partners. We should give exchange each other's quirks so we can make a plan…" She stopped when the boy lifted his hand making her raise an eyebrow.
"I already have a plan." The boy declared, "I'll go fight the hero and you'll give support from the back."
At this point, the girl was just tempted to leave him to fend for himself while she crosses the finish line alone, or just watch and fail the exam on purpose just to teach him a lesson…
…but she couldn't. She promised her family that she was going to do her best.
They both arrived at the examination area which looked like a rocky mountainous place. The girl thought that Powerloader might be their mystery teacher. She looked at her partner who seemed more focused on beating the teacher than actually planning how to beat him…
The girl coughed, "Iida-san, I think we should start planning how to defeat him. I have a few…"
The boy stopped her once more, "Yanagi, I respect you, but your quirk isn't suited for fighting like mine." The boy never saw the girl's vein pop out, "I think it's best that you stay behind and give me support when I need it. No need to…" he was silenced when the girl stomped toward him.
Yanagi, having her patience reached its limit, exclaimed, "Listen here, I don't care what you're…"
The girl didn't get a chance to finish her rant as someone descended on both of them from the sky like a rocket. He smashed into the ground and the girl used her quirk to pull Iida away while using her hovering board as a shield. The girl was never happier for requesting this board as a support item to help her mobility. Good thing she asked them to make it also work as a shield.
She looked and saw a man in his mid-twenties wearing a black and white suit that had sound wave patterns on it. The man also had gauntlets on his hands. He looked at them and said, "Let's Reve it up."
The girl frowned, 'This is Reverb if I remember correctly. He is the third-year moral hero ethics teacher. He can make sound waves from his body through kinetic energy. He usually keeps running to charge himself up in any fight or takes hits to absorb the energy to produce sound waves. He can blast them in small concentrated blasts or huge local ones. This is bad for both of us. The sound waves will affect my concentration to use my quirk while also destroying the ground hampering Iida's movement. We need to find…' she then heard a war cry. She saw Iida charging forward, 'This idiot'
The boy charged toward the teacher who said, "What do we have here?" the man unleashed a strong sound wave that shattered the ground to pieces causing Iida to falter and almost fall. "It's brave of you to fight me alone small man, but remember I can easily bury you."
Iida replied, "I am the hero Ingenium and I won't step down from a fight."
The teacher lifted his eyebrow, 'Is this kid dumb or what? He just saw I destroyed the ground he was using.' He looked at Iida's partner who facepalmed, 'Yeah, only of them has his head in the game.'
In the observation room, Shinso glared at the screen, "I don't like this. This idiot is even trying to work with her." True to his word, Iida wasn't a team player at all. He was attacking the teacher randomly without any form or shape causing Yanagi to focus on saving him from the sound blasts rather than on a strategy to win.
Recovery Girl frowned, "Well, at least he's is in good physical condition, but mentally… the boy's a mess. I don't know how that allowed him to stay in the hero course without therapy."
Setsuna then asked, "What is the purpose of this exam? And why him of all people?"
The old lady replied, "Well for starters, your classmate dear needs to concentrate to use her quirk properly like any telekinesis quirk, while Iida needs a smooth terrain to allow him to traverse easily." She then pointed at Reverb blasting the ground causing Iida to fall for a moment before being yanked back by Yanagi who seemed to be concentrating hard, "Reverb with his sound waves can make both hard for those kids. They both need to learn to work under impossible pressure and circumstances."
Shinso then asked, "Did the hero brat acting like a child count as one right now?"
The old lady looked at him and sighed, "Believe me, this happens more than often. Though I didn't expect this kind of attitude from him. I thought he'd be more cooperative."
'He's still hurting. I can see it in his eyes.' Izuku thought as he looked at Iida, 'He's trying to prove himself. He's still angry about Stain. He's holding back all his anger.'
In the testing area, Reverb said, "Dude, you need to readjust your attitude." He said sending another destructive sound blast to the ground. He then turned and blasted a few rocks attacking him before ducking under a kick from Iida, "It won't work. You've been trying this move for half an hour now."
The boy glared at him, "You need to control yourself. This test is to see how you do under pressure." He looked at Yanagi who was doing something. "Take a few minutes rest and plan with your partner."
The boy growled attacking him once again only to be hit by a blast to the face sending him flying to a nearby rock and getting knocked out by the impact with it.
The man then looked at Yanagi and smirked, "Time is ticking little girl. Let's Reve this up."
The man then used sound waves from his feet to fly to her as she sued her shield to fly. An aerial battle commenced with the hero preventing the girl from escaping as the younger one shoot at him rock after rock. She managed to increase her weight limit to about 75 still considered a normal weight for a human or average weight.
The man then said, "This is fun, but I have to ground you now."
The man then sent a sound wave that caused the shield to shatter in half. The girl used her quirk to keep the shield together and land on the ground as the hero fell upon her.
The man smirked, "So what are you planning to do now?" the man saw the girl pointing her glowing hands at something. He looked behind and saw a huge number of rocks floating, "Wow…"
The girl then said with sweat falling off her forehead a sign that she was reaching her limit, "Improvised move: Ghostly Attack." The hero then began blasting the rocks as the girl kept on the pressure, but in the end, she was only able to land a few hits.
The man looked at her and her strained face, "I have to say that you put on…"
The man was cut off by the speakers, "Reiko Yanagi and Tenya Iida have passed the final exam."
the man looked to see Iida out of the gate and the reinforcement button glowing, "But how..."
the girl answered him, "In the sky, I was distracting you to hit the button. I thought about capturing while Iida was fighting you to end this earlier, but I couldn't since you always shattered the ground sending back me to step 1 and Iida wasn't a team player. And I moved Iida out of the gate during our final showdown when you were busy stopping me from attacking you."
The man smiled a little and patted her on the back. He was about to say something, but Iida beat him when he came stomping to Yanagi and yelled, "YOU! WHY DID YOU INTERFERE WITH THE FIGHT? I TOLD YOU THAT I DIDN'T NEED YOUR HELP AND TO STAY PUT."
The girl was cut off guard by this and stuttered to answer, "But… I… wait… what..."
The boy continued to yell, "I HAD EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. IF YOU HADN'T INTERFERED, I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN KNOCKED OUT. I WOULD'VE BEEN ABLE…"
The boy was cut off by the girl yelling back, "YOU HAD EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL? YOU GOT KNOCKED OUT BECAUSE YOU REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN ATTACK HIM IN A FRENZY. EVEN MY MOST BLOODTHIRSTY CLASSMATE KNOWS WHEN TO PUT HIS PRIDE ASIDE." The girl took a deep breath before carrying on, "I HAD IT TILL HERE WITH YOUR SHITTY ATTITUDE. AND IN THE END, YOU BLAME ME FOR YOUR FAILURES. HAVING YOUR BROTHER INJURED DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO BE A HORRIBLE PERSON TOWARD OTHERS…" the girl's eyes had tears in them as she ran away.
The engine user yelled, "Hey come back here…"
He was stopped when the teacher put a hand on his shoulder, "That's enough…"
The man then said, "Young man, you should be thankful that this girl pulled her weight to carry your ass to success when you only ignored her. You didn't have anything under control. The poor girl had blood coming down her nose as she tried her hardest to fight against an opponent who disturb her concentration. You, on the other hand, only threw kicks. You need to learn to control your emotions."
The man walked away, "Your brother wouldn't want you like this. He would be ashamed, so I hope today's failed grade will teach you to control yourself and keep your emotions in check because, in a real-life case, the only place that you would have been is a body bag with many others alongside you."
The boy stood in shock and clenched his fist, 'Brother, I failed you again. I'm still not good enough.' He then knelt on the ground and began to sob.
In a private room, Aziawa facepalmed, "This kid is gonna be my new problem child, isn't he?"
Vlad looked at him, "You still keeping him in your class." The man nodded his head for the other to ask him confused, "Why? You expelled students for less serious reasons."
Aizawa answered him, "For starters, the condition we put for his return is his physical not mental or emotional state. Second, Hound Dog says so." The dog hero in the background nodded his head.
The dog hero then explained, "Tenya Iida is one of those people who don't know how to react to strong emotions. It was very clear when he went hunting Stain." The hero pointed at the crying boy, "Right now, he's feeling that he's not enough. When Midoriya saved him from Stain, he couldn't admit that he needed help because he saw it as his mission to end the man's life. He blames Midoriya for his interference, and by default, he feels that he's not good enough. His actions today would have happened regardless of the person he was teamed up with, though he might have taken it a little further with that poor girl given that she's Midoriya's classmate. He's angry at the boy and he saw the girl do what Midoriya did in that alleyway; stopping him from proving himself worthy of being his brother's successor."
Mic then whistled, "Boy, Tensei won't be too pleased when he hears about this."
Aziawa sighed, "Well, I'll tell him to come to see you in regular therapy before he goes to detention for the next trimester." Aizawa will let his failure slide, but blaming that girl is a big fat 'NO'.
In the observation room, class 1-A tried to appear as small as possible with the glares directed at them from most 1-B members even Mineta said, "Damn it, Iida. You took it too far."
Shinso stood up and left the room, "I'll go talk to her. I'll be back in a moment."
Momo then said, "I'm really sorry for what he did."
Kendo replied, "I know, but it's still hard to see one of our most composed classmates yell angrily before running away crying." No one disagreed.
On the rooftop of the observation, Reiko was sitting with tears running down her face. She heard the door slide open. She looked up and saw Shinso.
The girl quickly wiped her tears away, "I'm sorry for looking in such an unpresentable way."
She looked away from him as he sat beside her, "I knew I'd find you here. Back at the beach, you told me how you liked to sit on the roof to clear your mind."
He then asked her, "Do you want to talk about it?" the girl shook her head.
The boy then hugged her making her blush, "Look, I know this won't mean much, but I'll always support you. So please don't let this jerk play with your mind."
The girl smiled a little and said, "Alright, Shinso-kun." The boy blushed at the name but nodded his head. He then stood up, but the girl stopped him and gave him a peck on the cheek causing his face to flare red like a sign.
The girl then said blushing, "That's for trying to cheer me up." She walked away only to stop, "If you want, we can meet up at a cat café I know around the block after the exams are over."
The boy still red asked, "L-Like a-a d-date?" the girl slowly nodded her head, so he nodded himself.
The girl then waved him goodbye as the speakers blared to life once more, "Manga Fukidashi and Hitoshi Shinso, please report to the bus that will take you to the examination area."
