Chapter 75 - Chapter 075: Guest Starring on Set, Blindspot's Springtime

Shawn and Mira, wearing ill-fitting Superman costumes, stood inside the Fortress of Steel, gazing at the three different spacecraft before them.

With tears in her eyes, Mira reached out to gently stroke one of the children and whispered, "My darlings, our home planet is on the verge of destruction. Your father and I have lost our powers. As the bloodline of Superman, you represent infinite hope. No matter where you are, I hope that in the distant future, you can return here to save us, to save this long-destroyed home planet."

Shawn stood by with a cold, stern gaze, like a humorless, strict father. "There is not much time left. They must go."

He pressed the button on the light-column console.

'Squeak—'

The camera swept across him, then panned around the three children and Mira before the spacecraft hatch closed completely.

"Cut~!!"

The director nearby called, "Cut," and the extras and crew members relaxed.

"You were fantastic!"

The director was clearly satisfied and loudly praised the Kent family: "Whether it's your image, temperament, or acting, you look just like the real Superman, and even the children are impeccable! If circumstances didn't forbid it, I would truly want to sign you right now and add more scenes for you later!!"

Professional producer Brad, sitting in his chair, gave Shawn and Mira a thumbs-up. "Dalton and I didn't misjudge you. With your qualifications, it's a real shame to just be guest stars."

"If you're going to compliment us, keep going."

Mira wiped away her tears and gave a dashing smile. "I really like this alien setting of yours; it makes Superman's image look even more charismatic."

"Of course!"

Brad lifted his head. "Don't underestimate my understanding of Superman."

"Stop bragging."

Shawn, however, was unimpressed. He shook his arm and complained, "You should put more effort into the costumes. These crappy clothes look like something bought at a dollar store. If I were poor enough to wear clothes like this, then it would serve Earth right if it were destroyed."

"Hahaha~~!!"

The crew knew that the Kent couple were wealthy farm owners, and they all laughed at his words.

The assistant director wiped away cold sweat. "The budget is tight, so some of the ordinary scenes naturally aren't as perfect, but we will strive to improve them in the future."

He was a bit worried that the two people before him would get annoyed and kick them out; other places didn't have the vast area and diverse terrain of Kent Farm to satisfy their extensive filming needs.

The spacecraft prop opened.

Shawn carried out the curious-looking children. "Superman's parents, did they send away three children? Besides Superman, who are the other two?"

"Haha, this will be the most brilliant blank space and foreshadowing in 'Superman Prequel'."

The director was very proud. "According to our setting, only the young Little Superman will finally reach Earth, while his other two brothers will roam the endless universe, starting their own wonderful lives. Of course, that's a story for another chapter."

"Hmm... I have to say, that's very creative!"

Shawn and Mira exchanged a glance, and in the end, they gave a thumbs-up in encouragement.

The scene ended, and the two walked out holding the children.

Not far away, the lead actor, Pete Nicholas, kept glancing over, having lost the reserve he showed when they first met.

Seeing Shawn and Mira walking towards the rest area with the children.

Pete thought for a moment and walked over on his own. "Hey, have you considered becoming professional actors? I can introduce you to an agent."

As he spoke, he bent down to tease the three mischievous children standing next to their parents.

Now all the crew members knew that the three Kent children were geniuses.

Especially the third one, Little Christopher; the things he said with his little cold face were even more logical than the screenwriter's analysis of the plot.

"Thanks, Pete, but that's not really necessary."

Shawn shook his head and politely declined. "Guest starring once is fun, but if we made acting our profession, I think we wouldn't be able to sleep at night."

Indeed.

A proper Superman family, not doing their real jobs but acting—did they really think they were the ne'er-do-well Vought superheroes?

Mira stifled a laugh. "Our ideal is to buy more land, preferably to buy the whole Earth. When we have free time, we farm, raise livestock, and hunt. The acting life doesn't suit us."

"Heh, is this the thinking of the new generation of wealthy landlords?"

Pete rolled his eyes and spread his hands, saying quite humorously, "Alright, if there are any good scripts in the future, I'll come to you—not to act, but to ask for investment. I hope you'll give me a chance then."

Shawn and Mira both laughed. "Make this show well, and there will be plenty of opportunities."

As they were talking, the production assistant walked over and said to Pete, "Next, we will shoot a scene where Superman has a flashback. He finds a dilapidated spacecraft in the farm cellar, and the moment he opens it, he receives all the information from his parents on his home planet, thereby completely triggering his Heat Vision ability."

The assistant turned to Shawn and Mira. "You two and Little Superman also have a few shots to reshoot."

Little Superman was Christopher, who had won everyone's approval with his clever brain.

It was just a matter of saying a few more lines.

Several people walked towards another indoor location.

From afar, they saw a group of people busy at work, including main actors like Superman's parents and friends, as well as some staff members outside the movie, such as the House of Superman superhero—Blindspot, Mark.

Mira, without changing her expression, quietly nudged Shawn with her arm.

Shawn had already noticed and whispered, "This is clearly someone who hasn't given up yet."

At this moment, 'Superman's adoptive mother,' a twenty-five or twenty-six-year-old actress, was chatting happily with the shy Mark, appearing to be getting along very well.

Only.

...

[Name]: Genevieve Martin (Skin-Shifter) [Gender]: Female [Age]: 38 [Lineage]: compound vSuperhuman [Abilities]: Skin-Shifting Transformation LV2, Levitation LV1 [Evaluation]: Block-level, monotonous abilities, a Superhuman with some practicality; can temporarily imitate transformation by touching others' skin, prolonged contact causes digestive discomfort.

The real name of the actress playing Superman's adoptive mother was May; clearly, this person named Genevieve Martin was an impostor.

As for why she was here.

"Hey, has this scene started filming yet?"

Seeing everyone coming over and the equipment gradually being put into place, this 'Superman's adoptive mother' greeted Blindspot affectionately and walked over very naturally.

Pete Nicholas entered the scene and began acting alongside the other actors.

Shawn and Mira hadn't arrived yet.

"Mark, I just saw it; you were slacking off."

Shawn walked up to Mark and started joking nonchalantly.

"Don't say that."

Blindspot rubbed his head, his face seeming to turn a little red. "I think May is just a bit curious about Superhuman abilities; she doesn't mean anything else by it."

"Mark, that's not necessarily true."

Shawn was very certain. "This actress named May is very good-looking, and she seems to favor you; I can tell."

"Is that so? But she's a full eight years older than me." Blindspot stammered, looking a bit troubled.

In fact, it was more than eight years.

"Older is better; older women know how to cherish people. Haven't you heard a famous saying?"

Shawn chuckled inwardly and said casually, "Women are like fine wine; the older, the more mellow. You haven't dated before, right, Mark? Just try it and you'll know; it's really exciting!"

"..."

Mark didn't answer. His face became like a steam engine, turning red visibly.

"Actually, you know, I'm a fan of Mr. Superman—"

Mark regarded the Kent couple as people he could trust.

After a while, he said in a tiny, stammering voice, "Whenever I think about the fact that May plays Superman's adoptive mother in the show, I can't help but feel a little excited."

The expression on Shawn's face stiffened.

"Pfft..."

Mira covered her mouth on the side, looking at her husband's expression, and laughed until she was doubled over.

Well played, Mark. You with your thick eyebrows and big eyes, who would have thought you were such a closet pervert.

No wonder you were on the receiving end of Homelander's ear-clap!

"You're a genius, Mark!"

Shawn raised his eyebrows. "If Superman has a fan like you, he'd definitely be very happy. Now I believe that May likes you as a person, not anything else."

After saying that, he patted his shoulder and walked away with the children.

"Hehehe..."

Mark was originally rubbing his head shyly, but suddenly thought of something and stood there stunned for a long while.

"Hey, little boy, what are you daydreaming about?"

Without knowing when, May had finished her scene and walked over again.

"Oh, it's nothing."

Mark seemed to just snap out of it and smiled embarrassedly. "There seem to be a lot of people on set today, and we've changed scenes several times in a row. I need to be more focused to prevent any accidents from happening and hindering the shooting progress."

"Haha, you're so interesting~"

In May's eyes, besides appreciation, there was a different kind of meaning. She stood close to Blindspot, so close that their skin could feel each other's heat.

Mark, indeed like a startled little foal, awkwardly pulled away.

May laughed and said nonchalantly, "Are you as serious as this when you're at the House of Superman?"

"Ye-yes, about the same."

Mark blurted out without even thinking, his ears twitching.

May's heartbeat accelerated slightly. Perhaps she was the same as him, a little excited and nervous?

"Heh, so cute." A smile flashed across May's face as she continued to chat about life with this handsome young guy.
