Chapter Two
She just wanted to test it out—would Ryan Gregory show up at this moment?
Honestly, she couldn't quite explain why she was doing this at all.
There was anticipation, and also unease.
Deep down, she hoped, even just a little, that he would appear.
But at the same time, she was afraid that all of this would turn out to be a foolish mistake.
Sofia Hamilton took a sip of Champagne, eating leisurely, and casually asked, "Mr. Greene, what do you do for work?"
"If I'm not mistaken, I believe I've already told you."
"Is that so?"
She pursed her lips, completely unable to recall.
Apologetically smiling, she said, "Sorry, maybe I wasn't paying attention at the time."
"You don't need to apologize to me. I don't mind telling you a few more times until you truly remember me." He spoke with deep affection. Though Sofia did not believe a word he said, she couldn't deny that his expression was so sincere—it was sincere to the point that made doubting him difficult.
