Chapter Five
"What's got you so captivated?"
He sat beside her, asking with tenderness in his voice.
Sofia Hamilton opened the magazine and showed him a wooden cabin assembly kit. "This."
"Do you like it?"
"Not really, it just makes me nostalgic."
A faint smile crossed Sofia Hamilton's lips, tinged with sentiment and a hint of melancholy. "It just reminded me of the past. Back when my dad was still around, he made me a similar little wooden cabin. It's a bit different from this one, though—he crafted it entirely by hand. It was simple, but he told me, 'That's our home.'"
"At the time, our family wasn't doing very well financially. We couldn't afford to buy a house, so we rented. If the landlord ever decided to evict us, we'd have to move out immediately. But my dad built me a little villa-like wooden cabin and promised that one day he would buy a big house just like it. He said we'd never have to move again or worry about being forced out."
