Aurelia Wood watched his expression closely, but noticed that he was a bit hesitant, his gaze wandering.
Her heart hung in the balance, and at the same time, felt a void.
The one-minute wait felt longer than a century to her.
Suddenly, she lost the courage to seek his answer.
Fearing that his answer would hurt her deeply and shake her inner thoughts.
Seeing that he still hadn't answered, Aurelia suddenly chuckled like it was hard for him to respond. "Why are you so nervous? I was just asking casually. By the way, I'd like some fruit; can you wash it for me?"
She sought a topic to distract him, forcing a smile on her face to ease the awkwardness of the moment.
She didn't know that her carefree smile at this moment looked so pitiful and heartbreaking.
