Nia Mitchell had originally thought tonight would be a dinner for three. To her surprise, Evelyn Peary left in a hurry after being startled, leaving Nia blinking her big, bright eyes in utter confusion.
The dinner ended with Maxwell Peary focused solely on making sure Nia ate her fill.
"Uncle Peary, your sister is weird."
Having held it in all night, Nia finally blurted it out. She staggered under the dim yellow streetlights, swaying left and right as she walked, completely disregarding her image.
Maxwell Peary saw Nia walking ahead, counting the paving stones, completely ignoring him. He could only sigh helplessly and quicken his pace to catch up.
"Starting today, she's your sister too."
Hearing this, Nia finally turned around, pouting. "Didn't you just say at dinner that she's 21?" Evelyn Peary is a year older than me, so how can she be my younger sister?
