"What did you do wrong?"
Maxwell Peary echoed the manager's question, an increasingly dangerous smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"You should be very aware. If you do not want me to call the police, you'd better leave now and go settle your accounts in the Financial Department," he warned.
The manager startled, cold sweat drenching his body on the spot.
Did Maxwell know about his past deeds? Impossible. He had been so discreet. There was no way Maxwell could know. After all, Maxwell was merely a man not yet thirty. He couldn't possibly be as experienced or cunning. Was Maxwell trying to trick him, testing to see if he had committed those things?
"Mr. Peary, I do not quite understand what you're implying."
