Nia Mitchell swallowed, her hand trembling a little as she pushed open the Grand Gate to Maxwell Peary's Office Room.

In the quiet Office Room, Maxwell Peary sat upright on the sofa, not moving nor making eye contact as she walked in.

Her apprehension grew, and she turned to close the Grand Gate.

After closing it, she took slow, careful steps toward him, stopping a meter away.

Then, silence swallowed the room.

A deathly silence permeated the entire Office Room, and Nia Mitchell's heart hammered in her chest.

Why isn't he speaking? Why isn't he speaking?? Why isn't he speaking??? Those words swirled in Nia Mitchell's mind. She felt like an ant on a hot pan, restless with the urge to move and dispel her anxiety. But I dare not!

"Um... Mr. Peary?"

After a long pause, Nia Mitchell finally spoke, breaking the silence.

But Maxwell Peary remained seated there, unmoving, not even glancing her way.
