Not until deep in the night did Flossie Wright return to the campsite with Glenn Hutchinson.

The atmosphere here was clearly different from before.

They seemed to have sensed the aura of war spreading, the air was filled with a tension laced with the smell of gunpowder, even the usually slightly lazy soldiers were all standing straight, keeping watch outside.

The patrol teams were twice as many as before.

This was preparation for war.

Flossie felt a bit relieved; their time here wouldn't be long, but she also felt a bit helpless.

What war represented, she had always been very clear about.

She would fight side by side with her comrades, witnessing growth amidst life and death, but would also witness the blood and casualties of her comrades, an unchangeable law in war.

A war where there are no casualties on our side is ideal and beautiful, but it has never been the reality.
