"Is he a very important person to you?"
"How do you know about him?"
"You kept calling his name while you were dreaming yesterday."
"He's my adoptive father." Fifteen lifted her face, gazing at the distant seascape. "When Old Dad brought me back, I wasn't much older than Pet."
"Is he okay now?" Phoebe asked.
Fifteen pressed her lips together, "He's dead."
"I'm sorry."
"It's nothing." Fifteen shrugged and smiled, "It's been so long, I'm used to it."
Used to it but still cried so hard?
Phoebe raised an eyebrow, but didn't expose her.
Fifteen didn't want to talk about Old Dad anymore; the departure of that father-like figure was a pain she avoided mentioning, so she quickly changed the topic.
"And you, you didn't seem to see your family when we went to Singapore before."
"Me?" Phoebe lifted his gaze, watching the distant rolling waves, "I don't have any family, they're all dead."
That great fire consumed everything, and after that night, only he was left in this world.
