That night, Ann Chapman didn't admit that she liked Mia Moreland, but neither did she deny it.
Lynette Moreland understood.
Ann didn't like her, that much she had always known. What truly left her anguished and unsettled was that Ann had fallen in love with her younger sister!
"You don't understand." Lynette closed her eyes, murmuring softly, "None of you understand..."
At that moment, someone knocked on the door, and Amelia Clarke turned her head, calling out, "Come in."
It was an old servant of The Morelands, who respectfully said to Amelia, "The two young little masters are crying downstairs; they're probably hungry."
With the door open, faint sounds of children crying drifted up from downstairs.
"Got it. Go down and have the others soothe them for now. Once Arthur finishes feeding, I'll come down," Amelia replied, her voice softening instinctively as she felt a pang of sympathy for the children.
The old servant nodded, closed the door, and left.
