Chapter 1942 - Chapter 1935: Frontline Inspection

During a lull in the enemy attacks, Cheng Ziang, along with a few others, trudged through the muddy ground to reach the frontline of the battle.

The winding trenches were not as terrible as imagined; although the air was still filled with the stench of gunpowder and decaying corpses, the situation seemed much better.

Shells continuously whistled by in the sky before exploding far off. Even though there was a temporary ceasefire on the front line, the artillery positions at the rear continued firing fiercely, leaving the Aud Army almost powerless to retaliate, only able to endure the bombardment passively.

The cold gun and machine gun positions in the trenches were manned by soldiers draped in raincoats, huddled in the trenches observing the opposite side. Soldiers responsible for transporting supplies were pushing small carts, moving ammunition and supplies.
