"Old Peng, any thoughts?" Liu Banxia asked after they arrived at the Neurology Department office.
Peng Bo shook his head. "I've admitted him and conducted a preliminary physical examination and questioning. However, at this stage, I can't determine the cause of the encephalitis."
"The child hasn't had a cold recently and has generally been in good health. So I can't figure out why his immune system would be compromised enough to cause encephalitis."
"Even with some mosquitoes around these days, families are generally very careful. I asked the patient; he hasn't been bitten anywhere, neither at home nor at school."
"So I'm wondering if this could be an intracranial infection with an undetermined cause, rather than simple encephalitis. But the CT scan was negative. Do you have any ideas?"
Liu Banxia's brow furrowed as well. This was indeed a puzzling situation.
