Chapter 1: PrologueChapter TextChapter One: Day 15, July, 272 ADQ
It was a normal day like any other. The sun was shining, birds were singing and flowers were blooming in the summer heat. For one certain individual, it was the most important day of his young life. Today was the day he would finally find out his Quirk. His own best friend, Bakugo, had already developed his own, Explosion. Izuku wishes his Quirk was just as strong so they could become great together. As his kiddish musing went through his head, he could barely contain his excitement. Hell, he was literally vibrating in the backseat of his car as his mother drove him to the doctor's office. Inko could only shake her head. Honestly, kids these days. As they pulled into the parking lot of Mustafa General Hospital, they had no idea that today would be a very, very important day. Not just for the two of them but for all of Reality.
Inko sat with her son as the doctor came out with the results of the boy's Quirk Test. However, much to Inko's surprise, rather than Dr. Tsubasa, who was their family doctor, a plain with silver hair reaching his shoulders was in his place. He was as generic as people could get if you ignored his eyes. They looked like an explosion of elements that shifted every few seconds, a blazing inferno one at first, then a blizzard or a tsunami the next. The man sat down as he looked at the two. Inko spoke first.
"Ah, um….where is Doctor Tsubasa?"
The doctor smiled slightly and tilted his head as he opened Izuku's folder and thumbed through it. "I am afraid he had some business to attend to, so I am his replacement for today, you may call me Doctor Zhong."
Inko just nodded as she watched the substitute look through her son's files with a wary gaze. The older man just smiled as he set down the folder and looked at the two. "Now, as for your son's Quirk I must say, it's rather interesting. You said your quirk was Attraction of Small Objects, or Short Pull, as you called it?"
The green-haired woman nodded as she raised a hand to pat her son's head, the boy looking inquisitively at the doctor. "That's correct, and my husband's was Firebelly, it allowed him to breathe fire."
"Yes, that's what he told you I am sure. However, your son seems to have a gene mutation instead of the normal combination Quirks that would be seen usually."
Inko put a hand to her mouth as she moved her hand off of Izuku's head. "Is that bad?"
"Oh no. Not at all, rather, it's a boon, if you will. I need you to swear to me that you will never reveal the truth of what I am about to say to anyone. This information would be dangerous if certain…parties, found out." The doctor said, eyes narrowing slowly.
Inko copied his narrowed eyes as she got the gist of what he was saying. She wa a former lawyer prior to getting pregnant, so she knew just what kind of parties he was talking about. "I swear, I will never tell anyone."
"Two more times, please."
She did so, not sure why he asked her to say it three times. Then all of a sudden a loud thunder shook the building slightly despite it being a hot, cloudless summer/
"Thrice heard and thrice witnessed." Zhong said before he smiled again and spoke. "Your son's, your," His head turned a bit to Izuku. "Quirk is powerful. It may not seem like it at first, but with time and effort, you may very well become something greater. Your Quirk warps reality itself."
Izuku blinked. He was four years old but he knew that whatever the doctor was talking about was serious when he saw his mother's face go pale. So he put on his most serious face. Though it looked more like he was constipated. The doctor let out a snort before he looked back at Inko. She turned her gaze to him, voice low. "Are you sure?"
"Oh yes, I've been analyzing Quirks for a very long time. Your son's seems to be the kind that will allow him to grow exponentially the more he uses it, and it will alter the very fabric of space-time itself to help him. People will congregate to him for reasons they do not know, people will follow him like a leader, he will become extraordinary beyond measure with time. As you can imagine, if anyone found out the true nature of it, he would likely be dealt with."
Inko allowed the words to enter her head and she heard him speak, growing more and more pale each second. Still, she would support her son no matter what came. She hugged him to her chest as the boy himself found himself not understanding the words to its fullest extent. "What do we do?" She asked.
"Simple, pass it off as a generic Booster Quirk. The true nature of his Quirk will help remove any sort of questions about how or why things happen to help him. But you can never be too sure." He tapped the folder with his hand and it disappeared into nothingness.
Inko looked a bit worried but just nodded her head. Izuku then spoke up, eyes brimming with promise. "Can…can I become a hero?"
The old man smiled at the young boy before answering. "My boy, you will become the greatest of them all. But now I believe our time is up. Your Quirk will help you learn itself."
Zhong ushered them out the door as they stood up. Before he closed the door, Inko asked a question. "What is your Quirk anyway?"
"Oh my dear, when did I ever say I had any?"
The door closed and as soon as it did, Inko's shocked expression instantly disappeared. All she knew was that her son had a Booster Quirk that would help him achieve his goals. She didn't even remember the doctor with the strange powers, nor what he had told her. She looked at her son. "Izuku, sweetie, what will you name your Quirk?"
The young boy looked up with a smile on his face. "I think I'll call it…Pathfinder."
None of them seemed to notice that despite being in the doctor's office for a good hour, the clock hadn't moved an inch. And neither had the people.
The doctor's door closed and as soon as it did, reality bent. Gone was the doctor's office and only now there was a blank nothingness. Zhong stood there, his doctor's outfit replaced with robes of elements that shifted every few seconds. "You can come out now, Daikitsu."
From the shadows stepped out a vulpine woman with white fur and nine tails that jutted out from a hole in her kimono. The fox-like woman looked at the man before her. "Do you know what you have done, Qi Zhong?"
The man simply shrugged. "I simply escalated what would already happen. And that boy, I feel like he will be an instrument of great help when the veil tears."
"There is a reason we're not supposed to interfere directly with mortals."
A snort of elemental air, fire, water, and earth escaped his nostrils. "Please, like that's bothered anyone else before. Do you not remember why Quirks exist?"
How could she forget? It was the battle of planar entities such as themselves, though not them literally, that had let mana seep into the world. Then, an S-rank mad scientist ahd used the resulting mana to more or less infect the population ,granting them power beyond belief. No one knows why , as the man was killed shortly after by the previous head of the Fate division, Machiel. "Still…"
"Either way, it worked out, right? Quirks at least will give mortals an advantage against what's to come. And that boy, when I saw his soul, I saw he would become something greater than a hero."
"You don't mean…"
Qi Zhong simply smiled.
Izuku happily jumped out of the car he had been sitting in and made his way into their small apartment. His mother trailed behind him as she made supper for them, his favorite of course. The young boy happily babbled about his Quirk to his mother, and she had to chide him about talking with his mouthful. Still it was nice to see him like this. She only wishes Hisashi was here. He had told her he needed to finish some business overseas and he would be back home soon but it had been almost a week and no word for him.
They finished their food and she told him to get some rest. It was seven in the evening and the sun was still up, but he was a growing boy.
Once Izuku made his way into the room, he lay on his bed and stretched. That's when he spotted something. His eyes focused before widening at what he saw.
NameIzuku Midoriya TitleHero Aspirant Age4 ClassN/A XP0/1000Stat ModifierSTR20DEX20CON20INT20WIS20CHA20LCK20Helpful Hint: As you are baby, your current XP growth is severely limited. Multiply all XP gains by 0.1. This penalty will decrease every year you age until you reach 14, at which your XP rate will finally be at 1.0
His wide expression turned into a pout as soon as he read the hint. He couldn't really DO the math at his age and a lot of the terms went over his head, but he knew that 0.1 was a lot less than 1.0. Also he was NOT baby. He was a big boy of four years old! He just sighed and subconsciously closed the state page. He'd have to hope he got the grasp of his Quirk quickly, he wanted to be the best after all! With a small exhale of breath, the kid pulled the blankets over him and slept. He dreamt of All Might, his Mom's cooking and weird stuff like monsters coming out of a tear in reality. Huh, he must have seen some fantasy movie. Like that'll ever happen in real life. Izuku laughed in his sleep, unknowing of how this day would mark the start of a new era for all.
Chapter 2: First Quests
Day 14, March, 282 ADQ
You all know the story. It all started with the glowing baby in China. Soon after, powers and abilities beyond mortal comprehension. The extraordinary became ordinary, and soon, the age of Heroes began. This is why our calendars have ADQ, which stands for After the Dawn of Quirks.
"Get the hell away from me!"
A loud rumbling came as a large form burst out from the top of Tatooin Station, and a large humanoid emerged. He was around 30-40 feet tall, one could assume, but it was hard to judge height the larger something got. He had a vaguely shark-like appearance and his hair jutted out from the back of his head in dreadlocks.
"Dude, that guy just grew at least ten times, I sure hope the mayor can afford the repair bill. What did he even do?" Said a voice that came amongst the crowd that was filling the street.
"Apparently the idiot stole a purse then decided to use his Quirk in public once he was cornered." Another voice replied, almost pensive.
Various other responses came from the crowd as a thin boy squeezed his way to get a good look at the scene. A mop of green-black hair was shown as wide eyes grew. "I wonder who's fighting him?!"
The voice belonged to Izuku, who was holding onto the straps of his backpack subconsciously. A figure blurred in the air, doing a somersault before it landed in front of the villain in a classic 'superhero' pose, reminiscent of a spider. Izuku's eyes focused and he saw.
Kamui Woods
Title: Hidden in the Forest
Level 25
Age: 27
Izuku sighed at the lack of current info. Observe, a skill he had unlocked at ten years old, was still in its infancy stage and couldn't level up. According to his Quirk, he could only gain experience with skills after beating a 'tutorial' quest. He still had no idea what that meant but he'd been waiting for literally FOUR years hoping for something top pop-up but he still hadn't received a single quest. Either way, he sighed and just continued to look.
The hero looked like a cross between a ninja and a treat, his skin covered in either his blue jumpsuit or the wooden armor that obscured his face, leaving only his sharp eyes open to the world. "Illegal Quirk Usage during rush hour, assault, and robbery too? You are the epitome of evil."
Izuku suppressed a giggling laugh. Kamui Woods had a way with hamming up his words, that was for sure. "I can't believe it's Kamui Woods, he's been gaining a lot of traction despite his over-the-top acting and…"
A portly man next to Izuku laughed loudly, a strange mutation of what looked to be fleshy…stars, protruded from his head. The sound made Izuku realize he was going off on a tangent again. "You some kind of hero fanboy, kid?"
A light blush of embarrassment covered his freckled features before he rubbed the back of his head. "Eh? Well I guess? Kinda…" The boy trailed off, coughing to the side.
Meanwhile, Kamui summoned his Quirk and thick roots extended from his right hand twisting outward as if trying to grow and search for the sun. "Your punishment?"
As the rhetorical question came, boosted by the sound of the reporters nearby, one of whom had a sound boosting Quirk, the crowd cheered in anticipation. "Take him down, Tree-Man!"
Izuku's grin widened as he pulled out his notebook from a side pocket in his backpack. "Here it comes! It's his special move, Pre-emptive Binding…"
As if finishing Izuku's words, Kamui shouted his attack. "Lacquered Prison!"
Tendrils of sharp wood shot from his hand and snaked their way towards the gigantic villain, like heat-seeking missiles aiming to take down their target. The large man peeled back on instinct and just before the attack hit him, something happened.
"Canyon Cannon!" A booming voice appeared, and everyone's eyes turned around. From seemingly nowhere a massive woman, easily the same size as the large man if not bigger, shot forward with a small BOOM, her foot colliding into the villain's jaw with a crunch as a tooth flew out of the man's mouth followed by blood.
Everyone was frozen in shock as the figure stood over the one fallen titan. Izuku, despite being frozen in shock and staring at a certain…asset, used Observe.
Mount Lady
Title: Size Matters
Level 20
Age: 22
"Today's my debut! Pleased to meet you all, I'm Mount Lady. You don't need to worry about this bum anymore." Her voice rang out as she put emphasis on the word bum, her hips jutted out on purpose. The new arrival's tight suit hid almost nothing to the imagination and as the cameramen and reporters appeared behind Izuku, he could clearly see that she wasn't wearing any panties. If you asked Izuku later, he would deny it, but he was pretty sure he had just awoken a new fetish that day.
Soon however, the woman shrunk down as the supporting police officers cuffed the now shrunken man with anti-Quirk cuffs and led him to a large van designed to hold larger criminals. Mount Lady just waved at the cameras, but a closer inspection at her face showed she was not used to the media attention. Still, it was part of hero work. Quirked Criminals, labeled villains by society and in Japan, the HPSC, exploded as soon as Quirks came to play. Early on, it was an age of chaos as countries rushed to change their legal systems. At the same time however, people with Quirks began to turn to vigilantism to help others. It was almost like something from a comic book. The government was quick to take advantage and soon, the Heroes were born. They acted as vanguards against criminals that would dare use their gifts for evil. To incentivize this, the countries across the world would grade their performance and the higher their popularity and success rates, the more they would be paid. It wasn't long until the heroism of old was replaced by greedy supes looking for a quick buck.
Still, Izuku thought to himself, most heroes in Japan were at least good people. He moved his eyes to a notebook and added a new page. With skill belying his age, he sketched a rather detailed drawing of the new heroine and began writing.
"Gigantification, a common and powerful Quirk. Can lead to collateral and structural damage if used improperly. Assumed strength is multiplied by size, the stronger the base strength, the more powerful the transformed strength, perhaps? Not very good in urban settings. Useful for open areas and construction. Of course that assumes she can't control the size of her increase but then again, most Quirks of this type are just on/off Quirks instead of scaling."
Izuku of course, muttered this to himself aloud and the portly man from before just laughed again. "Taking notes too huh? I guess you're gonna try to be a hero too? Good luck!"
Izuku cursed himself as he realized he was muttering AGAIN before turning around and smiling. "Thanks, I'll try!"
"You guys are all third-years now, so it's time to start thinking about your futures!" An old man said as he slammed a stack of papers on his desk.
He was in a classroom, his eyes looking over his students as he leaned forward. "I would normally hand out forms for you to fill but well…I know you're all just going to wanna be heroes, yeah?"
The teacher just laughed as he seemed to just toss the now defunct forms around his desk in a flurry. The students all cheered, showing off their Quirks. They were quite varied, from a pinpoint needle fist, to a stretchy neck and even minor telekinesis. To Izuku's left, he even saw one student bulk up and explode the top of his uniform into tatters. The boy just rolled his eyes. He was pretty sure some of these Quirks were ill-suited for heroics unless REALLY trained and even then the best they could do was Underground Heroics. Not that there was anything wrong with that, but still the teacher seemed to imply they all wanted to be Limelight Heroes. His inner musings were interrupted when he saw a spiky blond-haired kid stand up, foot on his desk.
"Oi teach, don't lump me in with the rest of these chumps. They hardly train as is, they'd end up dead or crippled in a week."
Izuku didn't even NEED to use Observe, he knew the stats by heart.
Katsuki Bakugo
Title: Warhead
Level 5
Age: 14
The class jeered at the blonde, turning to him. "Get over yourself, Katsuki!"
The blond merely laughed in their faces. "Know your place, extras."
Izuku fought the urge to snort once again. His friend was always rough and brutally honest, but Izuku shuddered to think what he would be like if he had not had Izuku around to temper him.
"Ah, Bakugo, I assume you're going to be applying to UA?" The teacher asked.
Cries of astonishment and more jeers came as the students listed off the acceptance rate and the other's arrogance.
"Shut up, you're all annoying. I'm gonna surpass All Might and become the best hero in the world!"
The teacher's gaze met Midoriya's. "You too are applying to UA, right, Midoriya?"
Great way to single him out. The class turned before staring, then most of them started to laugh. Izuku wasn't as outgoing as Bakugo, so when the entire class looked at him, he just shrank in his seat and tried to find calm. Even though he had a Quirk, it was listed as a simple stat booster. But everyone thought it was useless simply because it would 'take too long' to be useful. Big talk coming from someone who could extend his eyes or change their hair color. His musings were interrupted before Bakugo clapped his hands in a boom, not even NEEDING his Quirk. "Shut the fuck up you idiots. At least Izuku actually tries to train his Quirk. Most of you can barely do a set of pushups!"
It was true, in P.E., only those with body augmenting Quirks like the kid who ripped his shirt or Emitters that caused kinetic force, such as Bakugo, could beat him. So he managed to be in the top five of his class, which was no small feat. Despite lacking any massive numbers in what he called his Attributes, he was still a point or two ahead of someone like the kid who could extend his hair or the kid with huge gigantic teeth.
The teacher managed to calm them down and soon ended a few hours later. This gave time for Izuku to look at his status page and stared at the so-called hint before him.
Helpful Hint: You are a growing teen, but have not yet passed the Tutorial Quest needed to unlock full functionality of your Quirk. Pass this test in order to not be such a stick.
He frowned. Did his own Quirk just call him a stick? Sure he was pretty thin but he was still growing! His inner frustrations were interrupted as two hands slammed onto his desk, and he looked up. "Hello Kacchan."
Bakugo stared for a second before scoffing in response to the childhood nickname that Izuku refused to drop. "How long are you gonna keep calling me that name, Izuku?"
"Until it stops bothering you, then I'll call you another nickname." The greenette smiled mischievously.
Katsuki just rolled his eyes at his friend. "Whatever…you alright?"
Izuku knew what he was talking about. The blond had never been good with feelings, even as a kid, perhaps a mixture of his mother's temperament and his father's tendency to be more than oblivious to certain things. But it wasn't his place. "I'm fine, they're just kids. Not their fault the staff is Quirkist. Still, this is our last day so we're finally free."
The bomeranian just sighed before adopting his signature scowl. "Whatever dude, you wanna hit up the arcade? Might score some chicks."
"What are you, an American from the 90s? No, I'm probably gonna train. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and finally get a quest?"
Katsuki, being his best friend, was privy to the truer nature of Izuku's Quirk. It also helped that Katsuki was severely a huge nerd when it came to games, almost as much as himself. Long were the days when he and the blond had played D&D with their parents. Another eyeroll and a snort almost like a pig's was his answer. "Suit yourself, just don't overdo it last time, nerd. Don't need Auntie crying over how you drained your stamina to zero AGAIN."
Izuku promptly flipped him off, and the blond returned the same gesture with a grin before he left the classroom. Now, there was only Izuku.
As the greenette moved his way home, he decided to take a shortcut, seeing as there was a traffic jam in the way of his usual path. As he made his way under the tunnel, he almost missed the prompt that showed up in his vision.
You have been given the quest, "The Beginning 1"
Objectives: Congratulations, young Pathfinder, you have progressed in both age and tenacity to such a degree that you have been awarded a quest. Survive until you are saved.
Rewards:
Unlocking the full functions of your Quirk.
Unknown
Penalties for failure:
DeathWhat the hell was he looking at?! First of all, he finally got a quest! Maybe luck was actually swinging his way! Then…he read the penalty for failing. Before he could process this however, a sewer grate whizzed past by his head, cutting his cheek.
"Fuck!"
Turning around, he narrowly avoided what seemed to be a slimy tentacle attacking his face and his UI came into view. He had gotten used to it after the four years of living with it since he was 10, but when not focusing on it, it vanished from sight. Now however, it seemed more solid than ever. What looked like a mass of slimy, dark green sludge filled his vision, two eyes shining in the dark of the overhead tunnel ceiling. Izuku used Observe.
Unknown Villain
Title: Sewage Personified
Level 15
Age: 37
Oh hell no, Izuku thought. A level 15 villain was attacking him, and he couldn't do anything. Before he could reply, it lunged. Slimy masses of wet, almost octopus-like feelers crawled up his body. A gaping maw spoke form the top of what he assumed was the head. "Don't worry, kid. I'm just gonna take over your body. It'll be over in under a minute, I swear."
Dark laughter filled his ears and his throat was grabbed. A small icon of a throat with an X on it appeared under his stamina bar.
You are Choking. Lose 3HP per second while under this effect. Time remaining: Unknown.
Sure enough, Izuku watched the red circle that surrounded the portrait section of his UI slowly turn black counter-clockwise. 97, 94, 91. It continued until he reached about 70HP by his calculations before he had an idea. Reaching into his left pocket, he managed to grab a pen and, with a swift action, stabbed the Sludge Villain in its oversized eye.
Critical Hit. Sludge Villain takes 6 ((Base 3)x2 Critical Hit)) damage.
With a loud yell as if a toe was being stubbed, the villain's attack slipped and Izuku fell to the ground. Only countless hours of dodging Katsuki's own punches allowed him to roll far enough away. Izuku looked at the villain, gasping for air.
"You damn brat, now I'm gonna kill you slowly. No one hurts me and gets away with it!"
Putting his fists up in a practiced (in his mind) stance, he got ready. But he didn't need to. A booming voice echoed from the sewer hole that the villain had climbed out of. "Is that so?"
Both Izuku and the Sludge villain stared at the new arrival. Standing at a whopping seven feet and two and a half inches tall, a man made of pure muscle, as if sculpted by the Greeks himself, appeared. His one hand was cocked in a fist, the other holding a bag filled with two Pepsi bottles. The man reared his fist back, faster than Izuku could see. "Texas…"
Then, his fist swung forward with a loud BOOM. "Smash!" Like an oversized Mantis Shrimp with a hangover, the blond man's first soared through the air impacting the villain's gelatinous face. Luckily he was a slime type, otherwise he would have taken the equivalent of a bowling ball sized .22 caliber bullet to the face at point blank range as fired by a cannon. Even still, the slime that comprised the villain exploded, shooting everywhere and leaving a skidding mark of dark green on the ground next to Izuku. Said boy, looked at All Might and used Observe.
Toshinori Yagi
Title: Symbol of Peace
Level ???
Age: 56
His eyes widened, he had known that All Might was strong, but Level 100?! He shook his head and finally got out of his shock as he looked at his idol. "A-all Might, I have so many questions and-"
His eyes widened as he saw All Might guzzle down an entire two-liter of soda before he began easily scooping up the villain with his speed. Once that was done, he looked over at Izuku. "You said something?"
Blinking out of his stupor, he nodded. "Can someone with a weak Quirk become a hero?"
That gave the giant pause. He thought of all the young kids who had died in the line of work or were crippled, and of his own battle that left him crippled and he frowned. "I won't lie to you, it'd be hard."
He reached to pick up Izuku's notebook and widened at all the info, this kid was a genius! All Might pulled a pen out of his pocket and signed his own sheet in the journal before handing it back to Izuku. "Heroes can face life and death situations over and over again. You're asking me if someone with a weak Quirk can be a hero. I would say no, and to be realistic. But…if you can train yourself to the brink and back again, maybe, just maybe you could become great. But I'm just one guy. I can't control what you do."
He secured the bottle holding the sludge villain into his pants pocket. "Until you can face death and move, I don't think heroism is a good path. I'm sorry." Blood dripped out of his mouth, making Izuku frown at the sight.
All Might bowed his head and with a two finger salute, jumped away. Izuku sighed as he processed the past 30 minutes. He wanted to be angry, to call the man out. But in his head, he knew. Until his Quirk finally cooperated with him he was still at a disadvantage at his age. Still, he hadn't said no per say but it still hurt. As he was about to head home, prompts filled his vision.
Congratulations, you survived the Sludge Villain. You have unlocked full access to the main parts of your Quirk. Dungeons will now randomly spawn in areas you have visited. You can now invite party members to join you, and you can now learn new skills and earn experience much more easily. Daily Quests will also appear on occasion.
Reward: 750xp.
Bonus Reward: For actual dealing damage to the villain, you have gained 200xp.
Now this? This brought a tear to his eye. His Quirk was finally working correctly. Izuku immediately opened up his status page and saw that he now had a paper doll. This was a term for a character's equipped gear, and it was a lot of empty squares. He wasn't NAKED but now he knew for sure that his normal clothes were NOT gear. Counting the boxes, he saw there were a total of 18! One for helmets, gloves, braces, pants, boots, chest pieces, a belt, and a necklace. Eight for rings, which meant that he could put one ring on each finger. And two slots for weapons! That was a LOT of gear. Speaking of gear, he found an item glowing slightly green where the Sludge Villain was, and picked it up, then he saw:
You have found :
'Ring of Shining Light'
Weight: 0.1lbs.
Craftsmanship: Average
Rarity: Uncommon
"This ring allows the user to summon a singular ball of light to follow them around, and it can be manipulated from up to 60 feet away."
Uses: 10 times a day, plus 1 for every additional point above 10 Intelligence.
Finally, it seemed things were looking up! That did not last, however.
A few minutes after All Might had left, an explosion rang out and he received a cue in the form of another quest.
You have been given the quest, "The Beginning 2"
Objectives: Now that you have unlocked the majority of your Quirk, Quests from now on will be more deadly. Go to the site of the explosion and save the victim.
Rewards:
1500xp 500 Reputation Points with ???
Penalties for failure or refusal of quest:
Death of a friend.
His eyes went wide. The penalty for failure and refusal, combined with the explosion sound? It was obvious what was happening. "Dammit, Katsuki, what have you done now?!"
A large crowd stood in front of a blazing alleyway, explosions of fire rang throughout the scene of what appeared to be a crime. Various low-level heroes were attempting to enter and rescue the trapped boy, but alas the slime covering him controlled his quirk to keep them at bay. Kamui Woods already had several burns, while Backdraft was putting out fires and was keeping the crowd controlled the best he could. "I'm putting out as many fires as I can but I'm kept busy here,"
"No good!" A large man with what appeared to be large black and yellow wrist guards that screamed caution, replied. "Just gotta wait for someone with the right Quirk to show up!"
Kamui Woods scoffed and tried to get closer but the heat warped his armor and singed him the closer he got. He would have soaked himself in water to negate most of the damage but his own armor was lacquered, making it immune to getting wet. While he could take his armor off he'd just absorb most of the water into his green skin. 'What the hell am I supposed to do?' He thought to himself.
A tall skinny man, wheezing from the back of the crowd, saw the Sludge Villain and cursed himself. At some point, the bottle he was holding had dropped during a coughing fit., and now, a child is dying.
It was at that moment that Izuku showed up and swore out loud, channeling his inner Katsuki, as he saw the situation. Was no one able to help? And where the FUCK was All Might? His own fists shook at his sides as he saw Katsuki's eyes. Then All Might's words came to his mind.
"Until you can face death and move, I don't think heroism is a good path. I'm sorry."
Fuck it. Izuku said as he ran past the crowd to help his best friend.
The heroes behind him now shouted, but he didn't care. "Wait kid, stop! You'll die!"
His eyes found a rod of metal about four-feet tall and grabbed it. At the same time, the Sludge Villain saw Izuku and roared in. "It's you. The fucker stabbed my eye!"
What the hell was he doing, Izuku thought as he raised his staff. He knew though, in the back of his mind. His body moved on its own but he couldn't stand by when anyone was getting hurt. The analytical part of his mind went through calculations and he activated his ring. A bright light. Around 10,000 Lumens, showed up in the size of a small baseball. Grabbing it, Izuku tossed the ball right at the villain's eye.
Sludge Villain is now Blinded. Duration: 3 seconds.
Not wasting time, the greenette grabbed Katsuki's arm and stabbed the metal rod into the foe next to him for leverage. With a wet, slimy POP, his best friend came free, coughing up green gunk that smelt like week old garbage left in the sun. With a small raise of an eyebrow he laughed a bit. "Looks like the nerd leveled up, huh?"
"Not quite, Kacchan. How the hell did you let this guy even capture you?"
"Shut up, I was taken from behind."
Izuku blinked and couldn't help but let out a snort. "Dude…phrasing."
The debuff on the sludge villain faded and he saw the two kids, fury in his eyes. "Don't ignore me you damn brats!"
Both the kids glared at the villain and readied to fight. It was not needed. A sense of Deja Vu crossed Izuku's face.
"Pathetic, pathetic! Man, I really am pathetic! I told you not to be a hero if you couldn't stare death in the face but I should really practice what I preach. Pro Heroes always laugh in the face of danger." All Might had appeared again, fist cocked back in an uppercut motion, blood spewing massively from his clenched teeth.
With a whoosh of air that ALMOST lifted Izuku off his feet, the uppercut hit the Sludge Villain right in the jaw. Or at least the equivalent of it. The Sludge Villain exploded, smearing all about the alley as it was defeated once again. As a result of the change of pressure, the clouds swirled above the impact point before it began raining. The crowd, which was watching silently so far, now began cheering wildly as All Might raised a fist in victory.
"All Might! All Might! All Might!"
Katsuki nudged Izuku and the unspoken words were obvious. It was time to get out of the sight of the media and heroes.
Soon, they disappeared before the media could question them, before the pro heroes could admonish them, and before All Might could speak to Izuku.
After speaking with Katsuki about his new awakening, the blonde just stared before he began laughing his ass off. "Oh my fucking god, you're even more of a video game character now. And you say I'm obsessed?! Pfttthahaha."
Izuku frowned at his friend before activating his ring and tossing the gaseous ball at Katsuki's face. "Think fast, chucklenuts!"
The screaming of the blond as he was assaulted by a flash of light was music to his ears.
The two parted ways, Katsuki cringed at the thought of confronting his mother but he bid farewell. Izuku of course just laughed, then remembered his own mother's reaction would be just as bad, Mostly a ton of crying , but well, no boy liked making his Momma cry. His eyes unfocused and he looked at the cues filling his vision now that he could look.
Congratulations, you have completed the quest, "The Beginning 2". You saved Katsuki from his ill-fated demise and even escaped the media. The villain is captured, and the day is saved! You have received 1500xp and 500 Reputation Points with Yagi Toshinori.
Reputation with Yagi Toshinori has increased from neutral (0) to Intrigued (500).
You have received a special reward, and now your attributes are all 10. The average for adult humans is 10.
Well Done, Pathfinder. Through trials and tribulations most would rebuke, you have merged stronger. You are now Level 2! You have 5 points to distribute, and due to your Nature, gain +1 to INT. You have one new feat to choose! Due to being the holder of the Quirk, you can choose ANY feat regardless of racial prerequisites so long as you meet the other requirements.
Defeat your foes, honor your comrades, LIVE!
Izuku's eyes widened at the information. Holy freaking supercrap! This was awesome! Opening his status sheet, he saw the stats on his attributes had small plus signs on the right side and thought. Currently all of them were 10 except Intelligence, which was 11. He didn't know what Nature meant but we would take it. His eyes focused on all the stats and he read:
STR: For every point above 10; 1% melee damage, 1% to skills that use Strength.
DEX: For every point above 10; 1% ranged damage, 1% to skills that use Dexterity.
CON: For every point above 10; 15 points to HP, 1% resistance to disease debuffs. Out of combat regen +1.
INT: For every point above 10; 15 points to MP, 1% to all magic damage.
WIS: For every point above 10; +5 to mana regen, 1% resistance to magical debuffs.
LCK: For every point above 10; 0.5% crit chance, 1% more unusual loot.
CHA: For every point above 10; +1% to items sold at shops, +1% summon damage.
Izuku kept walking home, looking at the attributes. Each one had its bonuses, but he knew what to do. If he was going to be a hero he knew that he was going to take a LOT of damage, so he made his choice. He added 3 points to CON and 2 to INT. He now looked at his stats:

His skills had moved from N/A to a separate tab above his paper doll and he moved to it. He was going to wait for feats until last but saw a certain tab next to it. Class. He clicked it but a sound effect like a buzzer rang in his ears.
You cannot select a class until Level 10.
Well that sucked. He focused his eyes on the Skills tab and mentally pushed it.
Helpful Hint: Now that you have reached above Level 1, you can now level skills. Your work before this also applies and is applied as follows:
Staves: 1; 1% increased damage with staves.
Writing: 9; 9% increased writing speed.
Studying: 10; 10% faster absorption of new knowledge, 10% faster research speed.
Observe: 1, 0.5% chance to discover a secret.
Tenacity: 2, 0.5% reduction to mental status effects.
Well, Izuku mumbled to himself, it was better than nothing. Next, he went to feats and was bombarded with choices. With the specialty of being the owner of his Quirk, he looked at all the racial feats and made a decision.
You have chosen the Kitsune Feat "Magical Tail" and taken the spell-like ability listed below.
Displacement: The caster appears 2 feet away from their actual position, making attacks have a 50% chance to miss. Uses per day: 2 + 1 for every 2 points above 10 INT.
Total current uses: 3.
Duration: 1 minute per level + 1 per level. Current duration: 2 minutes.
Keep this in mind, despite having this feat you do not have kitsune tails. Instead an ethereal tail will show up whenever you use this spell-like ability.
When it was all said and done, Izuku smiled. And just in time too, as he had arrived home. On cue, his mother came out and the waterworks began to ensue.
The next day, Izuku thought about what he was going to do to get stronger for the UA entrance exams. Then it hit him. A few years ago the Dagobah Beach had been overrun with litter and trash. What better way to work out than to do it and help people as well. With a smile on his face, he threw on some shorts and a simple T-shirt that said "T-Shirt" on it, before bidding his Mom farewell and heading to the beach.
When he had gotten there, he was surprised to see someone was already there, a skinny, gaunt looking man around seven feet tall. Honestly, the guy looked like he would fall over if a slight breeze shook him! On instinct, he used Observe and he was surprised!
Toshinori Yagi
Title: Symbol of Peace
Level ???
Age: 56
How was this possible? His own Quirk had never led him wrong and Izuku was so shocked in fact, that he blurted out a cry. "A-All Might?!"
The man jumped at being called out and turned to look at Izuku, recognition in his eyes before he spewed blood almost like a cartoon character as it sprayed out his mouth and onto the ground in a pile of red that sunk into the sand. "What, how do you….?" Came the reply before another voice called out questioningly.
This new voice however was distinctively feminine. "Eh, Yagi-sensei? Who are you talking to?"
Izuku's eyes looked over to the source of the voice and his jaw dropped. Standing right in front of him was a girl around his age, maybe a year older? He couldn't tell and didn't really care at the moment. He was in love, and he could almost hear that one song. You know the one, it goes like "OH YEAH, CHIKA CHIKA, BOW BOW."
Deep orange hair graced her feminine features, tied in a ponytail from behind. Her frame was feminine but it was also fit, like an Olympic runner and beads of sweat slowly fell down her skin. She was dressed normally in jogging pants and a windbreaker but that didn't hide her curves from his gaze. The fabric clung to her frame and he stared for a hot minute. The girl, for her part, didn't seem to mind, rather, she just said. "My eyes are up here, moptop."
His eyes rose up, seeing she was wearing a white crop top that exposed her developing abs and breasts that were obviously larger than you'd see on most women as fit as her. His emerald eyes met her jade eyes and she smiled.
"Name's Itsuka Kendo, nice to meetcha!"
