Kalypso sat there, black hair wild and bouncy, eyes like calm lakes. She had darker skin then what was portrayed in her paintings, but who could trust mortal paintings with the visage of a goddess. Kalypso wore thick black Kohl lines around her eyes, painted on to look like the eye of Ra and Horus. The goddess across from her was the opposite, wild and rough black hair with blood red streaks and maddened black eyes with irises like roses. Her skin was unbelievably pale, like, Child of Hades pale. Black and reddened eyeliner circled her eyes, her top lip was black with red lines while her bottom lip was unversed with the same patterns.
"I told you we had visitors," The Woman drank liquid from a cup infront of her. It steamed and hissed as she apparently choked it down.
"Khaos." Jack hissed out, gun aimed at her.
The blood in my face drained out, my heart stopped pumping and I forgot to breathe. I've heard tales of Khaos, most of them weren't good but all of them spoke of her power. Then it hit me, the woman in black and red was Khaos.
"You…You're—" I opened my mouth as maddening laughter filled my head. I dropped to me knees and bashed my head with my fist "Get out!" I shrieked.
Jack knelt infront of me quickly, his mouth moved but i couldn't hear anything over the growing laughter. My fists turned into claws as I began to scratch through my skull, Jack restrained my wrists as I doubled over opening my mouth with no sound and tears burn my eyes. Seconds. Minutes. Hours. Days. Who knows how much time passed, Khronos didn't exist in this hell. I looked up and saw Zeno standing over me smiling as I went insane, he crouched down, blood dripping from his shoulder, and grabbed my face.
I pushed away and came back to Kalypso's cave, Jack still had a death grip on my wrists. My hair felt wet, my hands as well, warm crimson covered my fingers and knuckles. Khaos was smiling behind her cup, drinking the liquid inside again and coughing up steam.
"I thought I recognized you, Atticus. It's been awhile, at least since the final days of Atlantis. Perhaps in this body, we can put makeup on you as well. I don't know if we have blue, but perhaps we can style your eyeliner like The Egyptians instead of The Atlanteans," Khaos smiled. "Never liked that stupid blocky pattern under your eyes anyways, I get your Greek but c'mon! It's makeup, not geometry!"
Jack stepped forward, "leave her out of this, Kori!"
"Watch your tone, boy. I will cut you open and hang you by your innards!" Khaos stood straight, her eyes glowing like hot coals.
"Khaos, darling, please The Phlegethon will lose its potency staying out of The Underworld for this long. Calm yourself, and drink," Kalypso stood and sat Khaos down. "You two! Sit and I will help you shortly!"
The following conversation between Kalypso and Khaos droned on, Khaos went on and on about some war that happened centuries ago. I think they were referring to 430 BC, The Peloponnesian War, and how quickly Khaos gained power during it. That's when I finally recognized the body of Khaos.
"Kori? Kori Vlahos?" I asked, sheepishly.
"How do you know that name!" Khaos' voice was at my throat like daggers.
"I— I knew you, back then I mean. Your mater," I looked at her.
"Don't talk about her!" Khaos shrieked.
"Priestess of Helios, murdered in her home—" I reached across the table.
"STOP! STOP IT!" Khaos stood up holding her head.
If I had to describe what happened next in two words, 'A Tantrum', would be the best words. Darknened energy swirled around the room breaking glass and mirrors, a beam of mist hit the table shattering it.
"WHAT! HAVE YOU DONE!" A male voice shouted out as Khaos fell limp like a puppet.
I looked at Khaos, she curled up like a child crying as she hid her face. This was not the same person that threatened to hang Jack with his own intestines, even Kalypso looked shocked. I sat stunned for a moment as Khaos sobbed, I stood and slowly moved to her. Kalypso grabbed at my arm, but I shook her off.
"You were just a child when I had met you, Kori. Vlahos wasn't even your real family name, but one the priestesses on the hilltop had given you. Daughter of Hades, The Second Princess of Asphodel, Kori Argyros a much more royal name for someone of your lineage," I knelt next to Kori and held my hand out. "I lost track of you when you turned 10, I never saw you again until now. Is that when Khaos found you?"
Kori nodded slowly, uncovering her eyes a bit like a frightened child. That's what Kori was though, a frightened child, I remembered her from all those years ago. I held my hands out to wipe her tears away, a smile pulled at my lips as her eyes had lost their damning colors and had moved back to marble white with dark grey irises.
"Khaos will be back soon…" Kori muttered, wiping her eyes with her sleeves. "She won't be happy with you, but just know that you're body may have changed but you haven't. I see the quest you're on and I wish I could help, but Khaos is blocking my knowledge of all prophecies except the one."
"And which one is that one?" I asked, removing my hands from Kori.
"You're The Ocean's child, you shall die where the golden rivet was struck or live to see Olympus fall," Kori smiled at me a bit. "It'll be a long fight, but unfortunately Zeno has not forgiven you after all of these years."
Oh great, the first truly kind words a god has had for out here and it's a cursed prophecy. I feel like I had heard those words before, but where (or rather when) from I had no recollection. Kalypso looked at Kori, who had curled back up into a ball, and then turned to me.
"Well, whenever Khaos takes hold again you should probably be gone. What did you need again?" She smiled bright, sitting back down at a broken table.
"Telemachus, have you seen him?" I asked, standing up and leaving Kori alone to sulk and sob.
"Personally? No. However, I saw an Athens ship fleet fighting a Roman ship fleet nearby. The Athenians came out on top, but headed north of here towards Aeolus Point," Kalypso poured herself some tea. "If he's alive, he'll be there."
