Chapter 144 - 23-

Chapter 23: A Brand New Day

U.A. was... kinda underwhelming. That's how he felt after the second day, anyway. He couldn't really explain what he had pictured U.A. would be like, but it looking like a regular school was definitely a surprise. Maybe it was just his own fault for expecting something way grander.

And honestly, why had he thought U.A. would be any different from any other school in the first place?

Homeroom kicked off right at 8:25 every morning. Then there was a quick ten minutes where Mr. Aizawa took attendance and told them about any extra stuff for the day. The first period started just five minutes after that, and classes rolled on until 3:10 in the afternoon.

Izuku and Iida walked towards U.A. at a nice, easy pace. The clock had just hit eight, so they had a good twenty-five minutes before they needed to get there. U.A.'s big, imposing gate got clearer in the distance. Standing just before it were three figures: Tsuyu Asui, Ochako Uraraka, and Momo Yaoyorozu. The girls were chatting away, and it looked like Uraraka was doing most of the talking.

When they saw Izuku and Iida coming, the three girls turned. Yaoyorozu and Uraraka had bright smiles on their faces.

"Good morning, everyone," Iida announced, sounding super cheerful.

"Good morning!" Uraraka replied, her voice just as bouncy. It was good to see the first day's scary stuff hadn't messed with her too much.

"Good morning," Yaoyorozu greeted them, a soft smile playing on her lips.

"Morning, ribbit," Asui added. Her tone was way more subdued than her friends'.

"Are you alright, Ms. Asui?" Izuku asked, sounding a little concerned. He wondered if she was still shaken up from the first day's events.

"Call me Tsu," Asui said.

Izuku's eyebrows went up a little. "Pretty direct, huh?"

Asui just shrugged. "I don't like being called formally," she explained. Her words didn't have much emotion in them. "And I'm doing fine. Why'd you ask?"

"You sound… kinda quiet."

"This is how I talk."

"Ah, okay. I'll remember that."

The five new friends started heading inside. Iida, Uraraka, and Asui were a few steps ahead of Izuku and Yaoyorozu. Iida and Uraraka seemed really into talking about their English lessons, taught by Present Mic. Uraraka was telling Iida how awesome his English was.

"So, are you looking forward to the day?" Yaoyorozu asked, looking straight ahead.

Izuku glanced at the girl next to him. A thoughtful look settled on his face. "Hm. I'm not totally sure. U.A. has been pretty… unexciting, if you ask me."

Yaoyorozu gave a soft laugh at how bummed Izuku sounded. "Were you maybe expecting to fight villains right away?"

Izuku chuckled, feeling a bit embarrassed. He rubbed the back of his neck. "Not exactly. And honestly, I have no clue what I did expect from U.A., but it definitely wasn't this."

Yaoyorozu chuckled again. "Oh, by the way, we have History today. I wonder who's teaching that?"

Izuku just gave a helpless shrug. "No idea." Most teachers for their course had introduced themselves on the first day, except for History. Today was the first History class since U.A. started.

The five of them got to the classroom with ten minutes to spare before homeroom began. The room was already buzzing with their classmates.

"Hey, Green! Yaoyorozu!" Jirou called out from her seat, waving. Kaminari was sitting on her desk. This immediately set off Iida's sense of what was proper.

"Kaminari!" Iida scolded sternly. He marched stiffly towards the boy. "You absolutely must not sit on the desks where our upperclassmen have built their futures!"

"O-Of course, Iida," Kaminari stammered. He hopped down from the desk super fast, shooting a worried glance at the blue-haired boy. "I-I'll definitely keep that in mind."

Izuku wasn't totally sure if he should be worried or just find the whole thing funny.

"Yo! Mido-bro!" Kirishima greeted him with a grin. His shark-like teeth glinted in the sunlight coming through the windows.

"Midori! Yaomomo! Good morning!" Ashido chirped. She was her usual bubbly self, bouncing towards them and almost getting right in their faces. Izuku had to lean back a little so they didn't bump heads.

"Midori?" Izuku mumbled, surprised.

"Yaomomo?" Yaoyorozu muttered, looking just as surprised.

Ashido's lips stretched into a big grin. "We're all friends, right? So, I thought it'd be nice to give each other nicknames!" She then pointed a thumb at herself and winked. "Come on, give me a nickname too!"

Jirou, still in her seat, snickered. "I think we should call you Pinky."

Ashido pouted at Jirou's idea. "Pfft~ But that's so boring."

"Alright, knock it off," Aizawa's tired drawl cut through the lively noise. Izuku noticed, with a little spark of curiosity, that Aizawa had a stack of papers tucked under his right arm. "Quiet down. Get back to your seats."

That command made everyone scramble back to where they were supposed to sit. Their seating had been changed based on a new list. And, weirdly enough, Yaoyorozu now sat right behind Izuku, while Reiko Yanagi was in front of him. Iida was in the seat to his right, and Jirou was to Yaoyorozu's right. Izuku wondered if the list was really carefully planned or just random.

Aizawa spent the next five minutes calling out names for attendance. Once he finished, he pulled a sheet of paper from the stack and held it up for the class to see.

"This is the Hero Costume Application form," Aizawa announced in his usual sleepy way. "Every one of you needs to fill this out. Describe your quirks, add any suggestions, requests, and if you can, include your own design. Remember to give these forms to Power Loader by tomorrow. You'll probably get your Hero Costumes before your first battle training at the end of the week. If not, then you'll just have to wait." He finished with a casual shrug. "Midoriya, come up here and hand these out."

Izuku sat at his desk, thinking about his Hero Costume design. He could pull ideas from Midnight, but he also wanted something totally his own. His Vigilante costume was another option, but that might draw unwanted attention, especially if people thought a Hero-in-training admired a Vigilante. Plus, he really didn't want to give the HPSC President even a tiny reason to think he still had ties to his past with them.

He chewed on the end of his pen. Lots of ideas bounced around in his head. Maybe some Marvel inspiration? He was a big fan of their comics and had even managed to grab a few volumes from some sketchy pirate sites.

Captain America, maybe? That could be a cool mix, blending the Captain's look with Japanese culture. He could even call himself Captain Japan, or something like that.

Or maybe Mr. Fantastic, but swap the big '4' for an infinity symbol on his chest? *That could actually be fantastic,* Izuku thought, liking the picture he had in his head of himself in that Mr. Fantastic-style suit.

"Are you going to fill out the form now?"

Izuku looked over his shoulder. Yaoyorozu was watching him with a curious look. "I was thinking about handing it in today," he said, keeping his tone casual. "Don't want to forget tomorrow."

"Have you already decided on your Hero Costume design?" Yaoyorozu asked.

Izuku shook his head. "Nah, not really. Haven't put much thought into it, honestly."

"Then what will you write down now?"

"Probably a prototype?" Izuku suggested, his brow furrowing a little. "I can always change the suit later after I've used it."

Just then, the classroom door slid open. None other than Ms. Midnight herself strutted in, swaying her hips just so. The class went silent at the Pro-Heroine's unexpected entrance.

Izuku's eyes narrowed a bit. He was surprised and couldn't quite believe it. Nemuri hadn't said anything about teaching his class. And this was the History period, right now. It was the only subject whose teacher they didn't know about.

"M-M-Ms. M-M-Midnight," Mineta whispered. Izuku seemed to be the only one who heard the hushed sound. Almost everyone else was too busy staring at the R-rated heroine. He glanced at the boy and saw him shaking in his seat. Izuku's lips pressed together, and his mood turned sour. He knew exactly why Mineta was acting like that.

Izuku looked around the room, taking in how his classmates reacted to Midnight being there. Iida sat super straight. Jirou had a clear frown. Denki looked spaced out, his face twisted into a weird expression. Todoroki didn't show anything. Mina looked very excited for some reason. Kirishima seemed really uncomfortable. Toru looked flushed. Tokoyami's face didn't change much. Sero looked flushed and uncomfortable too. Koda looked really uneasy.

He couldn't blame them. Midnight tended to get reactions like that from people their age, given her rather… explicit history. Izuku was kind of happy that Midnight had decided to change her costume. He didn't even want to think how his classmates would react to her old one. Not to mention that costume she had shown him almost five years ago.

[Flashback]

Izuku was sitting on the couch in the living room, eyes fixed on a physics book. The sun had set, so the rooms were lit up with lamps and ceiling lights.

"So, this is your new costume?" asked Izuku.

"Yeah." Nemuri replied from inside her room.

Her door was open a bit, letting them talk easily. Most of her rooms were soundproof, so it was hard to talk to someone inside their room otherwise. It wasn't weird for Nemuri to leave her door open, and Izuku respected her privacy.

"Who designed it?" Izuku inquired further.

"Why? I did, of course," Nemuri answered.

Izuku wasn't totally sure about that. Anything from Nemuri usually meant trouble. He braced himself for the shock of his life, but he could never have been ready enough for what she had actually designed.

"Okay, I'm coming out now," Nemuri announced happily. "Don't look until I say so."

Izuku waited patiently. He heard the sound of heels clinking, getting closer. Then the sound stopped.

"TADA!"

Izuku slowly looked over his shoulder. His eyes widened almost instantly, and his breath got stuck in his throat. Nemuri stood before him, hands spread wide to either side. The outfit she was wearing couldn't even be called a costume… because it definitely wasn't.

Her whole body was covered in dark purple fishnet with big holes, leaving everything exposed. The fishnet curved over her breasts, shoulders, and hips, hugging her like a second skin. The only real coverings were heart-shaped pasties stuck to her nipples and pussy.

"How do you like it?" Nemuri asked with a huge grin on her face. "It's still a prototype. You can give suggestions if you want."

Izuku promptly fainted right after.

[Flashback end]

He would never forget that evening. Thankfully, Nemuri had just pranked him with that outfit. She was never serious about wearing that in public. Her costumes were already on the edge of explicit material. That one would have definitely made the public go wild.

In the end, Nemuri decided to give him the job of designing her Hero Costume. That's how he came up with the 'Midnight Crawler' costume, inspired by the Marvel character Black Cat.

He snuck another look back and was genuinely surprised to see Yaoyorozu looking at Midnight with pure awe. And if he wasn't wrong, there was a little touch of respect mixed in with her gaze.

"Good morning, class," Ms. Midnight greeted happily, leaning slightly to her right and crossing her arms in a confident pose.

"Good morning, Ms. Midnight," the class called back. Mineta and Denki were still stunned silent, unable to say anything.

"Ah~" Midnight sighed, sounding pleased. "Such youthful energy," she murmured, a husky whisper that sent shivers through the room.

Not through Izuku, though.

He knew her games inside and out. This was just her way of showing she was in charge in the classroom. And, of course, doing it in the most her-way possible. He wouldn't be shocked if half the boys in class were totally devoted to her within a month. The girls… well, that would be interesting to see.

Midnight started strutting through the classroom at a slow pace.

"Anyways," she went on, her tone getting softer, friendlier, "I'm pretty sure I don't need to introduce myself. You all know who I am."

She paused next to Kaminari's desk and bent down, her amused eyes meeting the poor boy's trembling ones. Kaminari's eyes traveled downwards and focused on the two pairs of soft flesh that dangled before him.

"Don't you, kid?" Midnight whispered, making it sound like they shared a secret. She let out a soft, amused giggle as the boy froze, his words turning into shaky stutters. She patted Kaminari on the shoulder, making the boy flinch in surprise.

"Good, good," she said, standing back up and starting her slow strut around the class again. "For the rest of this term, I'll be your History teacher. And while I'm a fun person—and I promise you all we willhave lots of fun—I expect everyone to follow my rules, instructions, and orders. Anyone who breaks the rules will end up in detention with me. Got it?"

"Yes, ma'am!" The classroom echoed with their loud answer.

"Good," Midnight murmured, giving an approving nod. She reached the front and turned to face them. "Now, get out your books. Let's start our first lesson!"

Izuku and his new classmates were sitting in the cafeteria, enjoying their lunch. Midnight's class had just ended. He could barely remember a thing she'd said. History had never been his favorite subject, especially when it wasn't about Heroes. What good was knowing how DJ Trance and Doland Crump had, to put it politely, sucked Gaylon Cuck's little dick? Especially back before quirks existed? The only thing he got from the lecture was that the whole presidency became a joke for future generations. It was a cautionary tale called 'How Not to Become a Dictator'.

He was casually chatting with the boys when he happened to overhear a conversation.

"What do you think about Midnight?" asked Jirou. Izuku immediately focused on the discussion, curious where this might go.

"Why do you ask?" Ochako asked, a little confused.

"She's going to be our teacher for this year, isn't she?" Jirou pointed out.

"I think she is cunty," Asui stated suddenly, without any hesitation. Cunty? Was that some new word women were using? The fact that none of the others asked seemed to suggest it was.

"More like slutty," Jirou suggested, annoyed. Izuku frowned slightly at her words.

"Why do you say that?" Toru jumped in, joining the conversation.

"Have you seen her?" remarked Jirou.

"She looked sexy," Asui stated bluntly with a shrug.

"She certainly did," Mina agreed, nodding enthusiastically. "I think that black bodysuit looks perfect on her, and it totally shows her personality."

"What about her past?" Jirou asked, a clear frown of disappointment on her face. "She was basically a softcore pornstar, and out in the open too. She shouldn't even be teaching us. It doesn't matter if she changed how she's rated or not."

"I mean," Ochako began hesitantly, "she did some really good work for female Heroes."

"But that doesn't make things okay," Jirou grumbled. "Women like her are why women are often seen as attention whores. They are why women are treated like objects around the world."

"I like her."

Izuku's eyes widened. He almost turned his head sharply, but caught himself just in time. The voice belonged to none other than Yaoyorozu herself.

"Really?" Jirou murmured, surprised.

"Why do you like her?" Toru asked, genuinely curious.

Yaoyorozu suddenly found herself the center of attention, including Izuku's subtle observation. "Because I believe it takes a lot of courage and bravery to act like that in public. I don't know if she does it for her own pleasure or for attention, but… I think it's admirable that she doesn't care what society thinks of her and just does what she wants."

"Wow, that's… insightful," Mina muttered, barely audible. "I just thought Yaomomo was a goonette."

"W-What was that?" Yaoyorozu asked, confusion clear in her voice.

"Nothing important," Jirou cut in quickly. She clearly didn't want the innocent girl to find out what that bad word meant.

"But I think if Yaomomo thinks Midnight is okay, then there shouldn't be any issue," Toru declared cheerfully.

"Exactly," Mina echoed, matching Toru's upbeat tone. "I think you should maybe think differently about Midnight, Kyoji." She directed her words at Jirou.

Jirou gave Mina a flat look. "Please don't call me that."

Izuku stopped listening to the conversation. His gaze shifted, and he suddenly noticed someone approaching their table from the corner of his eye. He turned and felt his eyes widen. He recognized a particular ash-haired boy.

"Katsuki!" Izuku greeted happily, getting up from his seat at the cafeteria table and walking over to his friend. Everyone in Class 1-A looked at them.

"Who is he?" Kirishima asked curiously. Everyone else, except Jirou, Kaminari, and Iida, was curious about the boy too.

"Apparently, he is Midoriya's childhood friend," Jirou informed in a disinterested tone.

"Izuku," Katsuki greeted with a nod. Then he glanced behind the green-haired boy and at the gathered Class 1-A. "You guys eat together, huh. Must be nice."

"Class 1-B doesn't?" Izuku asked, tilting his head slightly.

Bakugo nodded. "I heard about what happened on your first day." His lips stretched in a friendly smirk. "If I'd been there, that wouldn't have happened for sure. I'd have kept ya in check."

Izuku chuckled at Bakugo's humor. "I don't doubt you one bit."

"BAKUGO!"

A yell cut through the cafeteria, taking everyone by surprise. Bakugo sighed and turned around. Izuku looked behind the ash-blonde-haired boy and saw another blonde approaching them with an amused look on his face.

"Monoma?" Bakugo said, sounding resigned.

"My~ Aren'tcha chummy with them?" Monoma pointed out with a smile.

Izuku raised an eyebrow. "You know him?" He looked at Bakugo for answers, but the boy just shook his head.

"Same class," Bakugo said, sighing with a mixture of annoyance and resignation.

Suddenly, to Izuku's shock, Monoma pulled Bakugo towards him by his hand.

"Oi! Who the hell are you pulling like that?!" Bakugo yelled in anger, but Monoma completely ignored him.

"Listen up, 1-A," Monoma began in a stuck-up and better-than-everyone tone, "I am from the far superior Class 1-B. Don't you dare try to act friendly with us so that you can get information about our class. You will NEVER BE LIKE US! We are the almighty—"

Unfortunately, the boy's speech stopped suddenly when an orange-haired girl grabbed him by the back of the neck and shut him up.

"Don't go around painting us as villains, Monoma," the girl scolded him like a mom.

Izuku's eyes widened at the sight of the girl. "Hey, it's you!" he said, pointing a finger at her.

The girl looked at Izuku, and a smile spread across her face. "Uh… Mr. Midoriya. Nice to meet you again."

"Wait, you know my name?" Izuku asked, a little surprised.

The girl giggled. "Kind of. Mr. Bakugo here told me your name," she said, pointing at Bakugo, who had somehow managed to pull Monoma out of the girl's grasp and was now choking him. "Mr. Bakugo! Please don't choke him like that."

"Who the hell are you calling Mr.?" Bakugo roared, sounding disgusted. "I ain't old, you understand that Tangerine?"

The girl rubbed her eyes, looking like she was trying to stop a headache, already annoyed with them. She turned towards Izuku, ignoring Monoma, who was calling for help.

"My name is Itsuka Kendo," the girl introduced herself. "I never gave you my name that day."

"Ah, that's a nice name," Izuku commented with a friendly smile.

Yaoyorozu suddenly appeared beside Izuku. "It is nice to meet you, Ms. Kendo," she greeted with a smile, joining the green-haired boy in the conversation. Her hands were clasped politely in front of her. "My name is Momo Yaoyorozu."

"It is nice to meet you too, Ms. Yaoyorozu," Kendo said, their eyes meeting.

For a few seconds, both stared as if studying each other.

"I think we should go back to eat, Mr. Midoriya," Yaoyorozu said with a kind tone and a smile. "We have Mr. Aizawa's class after lunch. We would not want to anger him, right?"

"Yeah, we should be going too," Kendo said with an awkward chuckle. She turned and pulled Bakugo and Monoma away with her.

"Come on," Yaoyorozu said as she turned and headed for their table. Izuku followed behind her, slightly confused.

"What was that about?" Kaminari asked, looking confused, while Mina and Toru looked at each other, knowing exactly what was up. They were definitely going to enjoy this.

Izuku was in the changing room for their class, getting into the standard U.A. gym uniform. This was their first physical training session with Mr. Aizawa, scheduled right after lunch. Izuku was curious what they had planned, but he kept his expectations low. He figured the training would be pretty basic.

He looked around the room, watching his classmates change. He was also interested in seeing everyone's physical shape. Still, he told himself to be realistic. They couldn't be expected to be ready for battle yet. They'd definitely need training and guidance.

A thought popped into his head: Should he go all out? It wouldn't be fair to the others, right? Maybe he should hold back a little.

Suddenly, what happened on the first day flashed through his mind. He quickly changed his mind. He really didn't want to make Mr. Aizawa angry again. He had a feeling that this time, Aizawa would have way more to say. But he also wanted his friends to improve. And Izuku was sure that if they could get strong enough to handle him, they would be able to handle most of the villains out there.

"Izuku," Tenya called, walking over. "Are you ready?"

Izuku looked at him and nodded. "Yeah, I'm done. Let's go."

"Mido-bro!" Kirishima walked up, swinging his arm and clapping Izuku on the back of his shoulder. He had a challenging grin on his face. "Don't you dare hold back on us this time."

"Definitely," Izuku replied, sounding a little unsure. But the other boys ignored him.

"What do you guys think the class will be like?" Sero asked, joining the group of three.

Iida took the chance to speak, adjusting his glasses. "This is physical training. We should probably expect things like running, sparring, and stuff like that."

"Sparring?" Kirishima repeated, his face lighting up. "That's totally my thing. I'm gonna do great in this class."

"I don't think we should get too hyped up," Tokoyami said, joining the conversation. His tone was much quieter than the others. "This is Mr. Aizawa's class. Personally, I think it would be better if we stayed in the shadows instead."

"That sounds really boring," Kirishima whined, sticking out his lower lip like a kid.

Izuku's ears perked up. Two distinct voices from another conversation reached him.

"I knew you were my kind of guy, Kaminari," Mineta said super enthusiastically.

What were they even talking about? And whispering, no less? Izuku tuned out the other students to focus on Mineta and Kaminari's conversation.

"I think I'm not quite as perverted as you are," Kaminari replied, his voice clearly showing a frown.

"But you still appreciate the female form like I do, right?" Mineta pushed, still sounding super enthusiastic.

"I mean, yeah, totally," Kaminari admitted. "There's just something really captivating about them."

"You should team up with me, Kaminari," Mineta suggested. Izuku suddenly got a really bad feeling about this.

"And, what if I did join you?" Kaminari asked skeptically. "What would you want me to do?"

"We're gonna have a lot of fun, Kaminari," Mineta declared excitedly. "We're gonna use our charm to win over all the girls in our class, and in this whole school."

Yeah, Izuku seriously doubted that.

"I'm not so sure about that."

And it looked like Kaminari doubted it too.

"You're questioning the master of seduction, Kaminari?" Mineta clicked his tongue, pretending to be disappointed. "I've learned from the very best."

"And what does this 'master of seduction' plan to do?" Kaminari asked, his skepticism growing.

"We're gonna seduce our first target," Minoru announced smugly.

"And who might that be?" Kaminari asked.

"Ms. Midnight," Minoru proclaimed with total pride.

"Guys," Izuku called out. A wide, almost unsettling smile spread across his face. Though none of them noticed the unsettling aspect of it. "Why don't you all go ahead? I'll join you in a bit. I need to hit the restroom."

"Certainly, Izuku," Iida replied with a nod. "Don't take too long."

The boys left the changing room, leaving Izuku alone with Minoru and Kaminari. He took a deep breath and got ready. They weren't going to enjoy this, but it had to be done. He felt bad for them. They could have aimed their perversion at anyone else, but nope, they just had to pick Midnight.

Turning around, he walked over to the two boys. He had a huge, overly cheerful smile on his face. "Hey, Mineta, Kaminari! Let's have a little chat!" he said cheerfully.

Poor Mineta Minoru and Denki Kaminari. They were in for a world of disappointment.
