Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

*AUTHOR NOTE* sorry for the late post, struggling with some things irl :(

[Lucius, trapped in his mind, finds himself lying in a dark and desolate room, surrounded by an impenetrable darkness. His body lay bare and desolate of clothing as he rested on the cold floor.]

Lucius rises to his feet, stumbling a bit, placing each foot one after the other; hesitating to touch the chilled floor.

From the darkness red eyes flashed, revealing a massive beast, which stood before Lucius, towering like a bear. The beast spoke with a voice that echoed in the darkness.

"Is this the great vampire lord?"

In a sudden burst of determination, Lucius launched himself at the beast, landing a series of punches.

Lucius paused briefly during his series of punches, his face darkened.

His attacks did not appear to affect the formidable creature.

"Are you not the vampire lord?"

Lucius half clenches his fist while crouching slightly and placing his right foot back.

The beast smiles. "So you still choose to fight like a human."

Not refusing to back down, Lucius continues his barrage of punches. Just as he attempts to land a left hook he catches something in the corner of his eye, but is unable to respond.

BLAM! With a single strike, the beast effortlessly knocks him away.

Lucius pushes himself up, slipping upon the cold ground, unable to get to his feet. Breathing heavily; struggling to catch his breath.

The beast slowly approaches him, its feet beating on the floor, signaling the impending doom that would befall him. The beast stared at Lucius pitifully as it raised an arm preparing to deliver a final blow.

The beast's face became disfigured as, an unexpected shock of pain coursed through its body, causing it to stumble. Lucius, seizing this opportunity, sinks his teeth into the beast's leg, his blue eyes devoid of emotion. The beast tries desperately to shake Lucius off, but he clings on without hesitation.

Lucius caught a glance of a dark figure dashing around them. The figure appeared as a woman holding an umbrella. Its slender and petite figure danced among the darkness, causing Lucius to pause briefly.

BlAM!! The beast managed to knock Lucius off.

Lucius stood up immediately, licking his lips, with a hint of crimson lingering on his tongue.

The wind gave no response as the umbrella-wielding woman stood between him and the beast instantly. She was clothed in basic black apparel, but her umbrella was black with golden symbols engraved on it. Her hair was long, but her face was hidden beneath the umbrella.

Lucius and the beast simultaneously stepped back a bit.

The woman spoke in a giddy voice, "Hmm, what's going on here? A fight? Ya know they say you can take a lord's power if you kill them... I don't know if it's true though, and--"

The beast spoke angrily, "We are in the middle of combat, quit your yapping and get out of the way."

The woman removed the umbrella from her face, revealing a dark cloth over her eyes. The ends of her hair turned sharp as she turned to the beast, slowly lifting the cloth from her eyes.

The beast's eyes widened as he met hers.

The woman quickly wrapped the cloth over her eyes and turned to Lucius.

Lucius slowly shuffled his feet back as he studied the beast's body.

The beast's expression and posture were the same, though the woman turned away. Its body was devoid of all movement, and perhaps life. It was as though it had been locked in time; unable to escape.

"Don't worry about him, vampire lord. He is but a small--"

"What are you!" Lucius demanded

"Oh me, you should know me, great lord. Be at ease my lord, I am Mimic, but you may call me Mimi."

"Don't act so casual with me, you were just talking about killing me earlier!"

"Oh that, silly me...It was just a little rumor that goes around."

"Ok forget it, just tell me what you want!"

She spoke with a pouty face, "My lord, you don't have to be so mean to me. I was just coming to help. I know it's hard for you right now because of the curse and everything, but you don't have to be such a meany."

I must be talking to a child right now because there's no way a woman is speaking to me like this! No, she's just speaking casually with me, which means she must be someone like the maids.

"Tell me again, who are you.. to me?"

"I am Mimi, the mimic, I can copy any move I see. I am a rogue under you."

What kind of OP (overpowered) skill is that!!!!

Lucius clears his throat. "Do you know if I have any skills like that?"

"Oh, skills like mimicry? Well, I heard that someone with lordship can use the skill of those under him, by spending time in combat with their servants, but there is a much faster route."

"And what's that?"

"You kill them."

Lucius squished his eyebrows together, puzzled by her words. "Tell me how that works?'

"Hmm..so basically you can do it with just about anyone. Pretty much the same way you suck blood. So imagine this; just as their soul is leaving their body, you reach out and eat it! But you have to be a full-on vampire to do it!"

"What do you mean by full-on?"

"Ya know, sort of like when you attacked Shara, but a lot worse...sorry to bring that up."

Lucius stood solemnly. "So Mimi, how do we get out of here?"

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Look carefully master, I learned this skill from a Mage Lich."

"SUMMON CHAOS GATE!!"

Sparks of lightning flashed from the ominous purple portal that stood before them, vacuuming the darkness of the room within it.

Lucius hesitated. "Are you sure this is the right way out?"

She rested her cheek on her finger, "It should be, but we might get separated. And your physical body will be transported to the same location the portal takes you. I was pretty lucky to get to you here with that portal."

She ran up to the portal, "Hurry up master, I don't know how long it'll stay open."

Lucius rolls his eyes, as he runs to the portal. They both jump through.

A large flash of purple energy surges around them as they swirl within the portal.

Lucius catches a glimpse of a bloodied sky as they enter out the portal.

They both roll out the portal onto the ground, with the dirt beneath them getting kicked up. Lucius looks around to see a large grey castle beneath a crimson sky, with dust fogging the air. The castle has the imprint of skulls on it, with human and monster skulls perched up on sticks around it.

Mimi tilted her head and pressed her pointer fingers together, "Sorry master, I might've made a little mistake."

"What do you mean by mistake?"

"You see, this might be the place where I ran away from the Lich, and I may or may not have stolen something from it."

Lucius sits down on the dirt-filled ground with his hands on his head.

"Don't worry master, I know I'll get us back home in no time!"
