Chapter 272 - Chapter 272 - The Journey and Titles of the Arctican.

---------------------------------------

Third Person POV

Arctic, 298 AC.

---------------------------------------

"The moment has come..."

Jon's voice echoed in the main hall of the Senate, as the ministers and the king made the most important decisions for the kingdom itself.

Everyone was present at that meeting, after Jon had given Brynden the order the day before that all should attend.

At the head of the table, there was no one less occupying the most important seat there.

Jon Arctic – A human, founding king of Arctic, chosen by the old gods to lead humanity against evil and save the people faithful to the old gods of the north, the one who has the final word on everything that happens in the kingdom, the one everyone respects and admires, without needing to make them bend their knees before the king.

His titles in life are:

The Little Jon

(The little boy of 8 namedays who turned the northern kingdom upside down over 10 years ago. Having countless unbelievable feats for a boy his age.)

Blessed by the old gods

(Jon received powers that no one else possessed, such as raising any tree, flower, and plant from the ground in an instant and blooming it with fruits and leaves, skinchanger powers that had never been seen before, healing power and minor elements, in addition to the knowledge he received in various areas. He can currently even create a forest in the desert of Dorne.)

The Chemist

(Still in the north, he developed things that should be impossible using the knowledge of the old gods, being able to create potions for physical enhancement and even creating a new type of wildfire that helped Lord Stark in the fight against the northern slavers. And he was only 9 namedays old.)

The Giant Challenger

(The boy who entered the Wall and challenged a giant, nearly dying for it after abusing potions he had created himself to increase his strength from that of a human child to fight a giant. He lost in the end, but at the same time gained the respect of the giants, and the first giants allied with him after that.)

Leader of the Arctic tribe

(His tribe began gaining strength after starting to defeat other tribes with weapons never seen before beyond the Wall, increasing their numbers and becoming more and more well-known, while they sought the promised land with the 9-nameday-old boy having visions from the old gods.)

Founder of Arctic

(Founder of the kingdom, created in an arid land, with only a great Weirwood at its center, where they began to build the kingdom that would become known for being rich and feared worldwide in the future.)

Friend of the Dwarves and later, their king

(After finding the dwarves hidden for tens of thousands of years inside the mountains, a race even older than the children of the forest. Jon came with a proposal after being received and making a pact with a prophecy made by the dwarves themselves. Thor, a dwarf with thousands of followers, accepted a deal with Jon and his group went to Arctic, boosting the construction of the city.)

Father of Dragons

(The one who hatched a dragon egg since the age of dragon prosperity.)

King Beyond the Wall

(After returning south of the Wall, 2 or 3 years after disappearing into the wild lands of the north, he became the king of his people. Surprising everyone with this claim, while many were skeptical about it.)

King of the Giants

(After returning north of the Wall with the winter crown, he fulfilled the ancient promise of Brandon the Builder, managing to bring the great giant clans to Arctic, further boosting its construction, with the giants and mammoths being able to carry loads no one else could, with the help of the mammoths who also went to Arctic.)

King of the Children of the Forest and Savior from Their Extinction

(The one who managed to prevent the extinction of the mythical and sacred creatures of his gods, while they recognized him for the first time, a human king they were willing to follow.)

The One Who Can See and Learn from the Past

(Jon, with Brynden's help as a greenseer, can access nearly all the knowledge from thousands of years of this world's history—even lost knowledge was restored in Arctic.)

The Teacher

(As many came to call him after his reign began in Arctic—after all, Jon acquired vast knowledge with Brynden through green sight, in addition to what he had already received from the old gods upon gaining his powers.)

The Warg King

(As one of his many titles, this came from his superhuman ability to control animals, being able to command thousands at once, while maintaining bonds with countless creatures. He could also see through other eyes without losing consciousness, and access memories of animals as long as they were within his reach.)

The Dragonrider

(After more than 150 years without a dragonrider, Jon Arctic was the first to ride one since the Dance of the Dragons, hatching a dragon of his own and flying with it for the first time once it was fully grown.)

Lord of the Depths

(The first man to ever tame a Kraken at sea, while records of the mythical creature accompanying the Arctican fleet were met with skepticism. They say he can control the beast, and no one dares oppose him at sea.)

The King of Arctic

(Finally known beyond his domains, Jon went from being King Beyond the Wall to King of Arctic—the official kingdom, even without recognition from the Westerosi crown at the time. He chose to engage in trade with Westeros in search of resources Arctic lacked.)

Scourge of Oldtown

(After his business dealings with the Tyrells, Jon brought destruction and death to the Citadel, later pillaging it.)

The Monarch of the Seas

(After destroying two massive fleets—the largest in the Seven Kingdoms, including the Redwyne Fleet and the Royal Fleet—he was considered invincible at sea, thanks to his wildfire technology.)

The Keyholder of the Iron Bank

(After failed business ventures that ended in battles, death, and looting with the Seven Kingdoms, Jon turned his attention to Essos, advancing with an even greater fleet to Braavos, where he negotiated with the Iron Bank. With a major investment and dealings, he became the thirteenth keyholder of the Iron Bank—one of the voices who would make major decisions about money and who should receive loans.)

Azor Ahai or The Last Hero

(Thanks to a vision from the greatest temple of the Red God in Volantis, a high-ranking priest had a vision that cost him his sight. He declared Azor Ahai—the champion of the Red God—would come to Volantis, and it was Jon Arctic. Jon received full support and devotion from the Red Faith, without even knowing it. Upon arriving in the city, he was hailed as the savior of the world.)

The One Who Will Lead Humanity Against Its End

(Following the previous vision, he was believed to be the one who would unite all the peoples of the world under his banners—not as a conqueror, but as the one who would guide them to victory against the end of the world. The Dothraki deserts froze, but at the same time, the entire world would stand united against the Night King.)

The Explorer of Valyria

(After leaving Volantis, Jon entered Valyria, risking an exploration that turned out to be astonishing—no one had ever been as successful as he was, returning with gold, Valyrian steel, and countless treasures. People from Yi-Ti claimed that the Arcticans had an entire forge made of Valyrian steel, worth more than several castles of Westeros. Perhaps nothing in the world could be more valuable.)

The Breaker of Greyscale and Purifier of the Green Fever

(After leaving Valyria and stopping in Sothoryos due to his royal guards being afflicted by Greyscale in a fight against the infected, he studied a way to save his men without amputating limbs. He also encountered another disease—the green fever—and studied it with interest, managing to cure both.)

Greatest Warrior in the World

(After proving his skills against the greatest warriors of Westeros and the western side of Essos, Jon ended up challenging all the best warriors of Yi-Ti. There was no doubt that Jon Arctic was considered the greatest living warrior, wielding many different swords—all made of Valyrian steel—and easily switching between combat styles. He defeated: Oberyn Martell, Ser Garlan Tyrell, Ser Boros Blount, Ser Jaime Lannister, Gregor Clegane, Ser Barristan Selmy, King Robert Baratheon, Syrio Forel, the samurai Kin'emon, the shogun Oden Kozuki, the samurai Jin Sakai, Lord Shimura, and Khotun Khan. Later, he also defeated Khal Moro and Khal Drogo without difficulty, and was the only one to kill White Walkers.)

Okuchi no Makami or Great Wolf-Deity Protector

(With his giant wolf that resembled a mythical creature, the people of Yi-Ti saw him as their savior. Witnessing their country in ruins, they revered the King of Arctic who chose to save the land. His legend grew further, seen as the reincarnation of the creature destined to protect Yi-Ti in their folklore.)

The White Wolf

(Beyond the mythical name, he was also called this in other parts of the world, upon seeing Ghost—a creature 3 meters tall and 6 meters long—who follows and protects him wherever he goes.)

Master of the Extinct White Dragon Style of the Snowy Mountain

(This style was lost for over 2,000 years, but Jon managed to recreate it through green sight. Its creator was Xiao Ryuu, the White Dragon—a samurai who fought to protect a village when all the other samurai fled, shaming their names. He stayed behind to defend everyone and uphold his honor. Alone, he faced a thousand bandits ready to pillage. Xiao Ryuu stood his ground, sword raised before the battle began. A brutal four-hour fight followed, with all watching him fight alone against a thousand men. He emerged victorious but gravely wounded, dying from his injuries. As the last master of the style, no one ever learned it from him, and no one imagined it could be revived.)

Friend of the Samurais

(Since stepping into Yi-Ti, Jon formed a friendship with Kin'emon, Shogun Oden, Lord Shimura, and other samurai, considering them his friends.)

Legendary Hero of Yi-Ti

(The one who began to turn the tide of Yi-Ti's war in its most dire state. Later, he succeeded in expelling all invaders from Yi-Ti.)

The Invincible General

(Thanks to his strategies, Jon changed the course of the war, saving Lord Shimura and the prince from the hands of the Nhai Games Empire.)

Friend and Ally of Yi-Ti

(After the war, a marriage alliance was established to create a bridge between Arctic and Yi-Ti. Princess Hiyori's hand was given to Jon Arctic, who took her to his kingdom and later married her. The new queen of Arctic was expecting a child from Jon Arctic, uniting the blood of both royal families through that child.)

The Greatest Navigator in the World

(With all the voyages Jon and his fleet made in search of new partners, he came to be considered this—despite not being the only one aboard the ships, and though his men would later explore more areas, everyone still saw him this way.)

The Greatest Merchant in the World

(The same went for this title—due to how he negotiated his contracts with powerful men around the world. He never failed anyone, and his goods were unique, with no one able to replicate his trade in ice.)

The Chainbreaker

(After leaving Yi-Ti, all were shocked to learn that Jon Arctic had attacked Slaver's Bay, launching simultaneous strikes on Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen before they could even react. He took control of the leading families, executed them, seized their fortunes, and now, Slaver's Bay is practically an extension of Arctic on that side of the world.)

The Most Powerful Man in the World

(With the number of victories in battle, the incredible variety of enemies he had faced, and the wealth and knowledge everyone who met the Arctican king had witnessed, he had become the most powerful person in the world—and no one wanted to face the Arcticans as enemies.)

Breaker of Khals

(After being challenged, Jon Arctic entered the Dothraki Sea and defeated the greatest khalasars, slaying their leaders in one-on-one combat—all falling before the Valyrian steel sword he was said to wield.)

White Walker Slayer

(No one else in the world besides Jon Arctic had faced and defeated a White Walker. He was one of the few who could boast such a feat. Perhaps a giant with a three-meter Valyrian steel sword could slay one too—but Jon was the only one who could face one in single combat with a clear advantage.)

Throughout his young life, Jon had already accumulated a total of 43 known titles both inside and outside of Arctic, as people spoke of his deeds. Yet there were things he hid so well that he was never called by them.

Jon never liked titles—especially ones with such length. He doubted anyone could rival him, but luckily for everyone, "King of Arctic" was more than enough. Otherwise, the ceremonial masters would have had quite the problem announcing anything at all.

'This is Jon Arctic! Also known as: The Little Jon, The Blessed by the Old Gods, The Chemist, The Giant Challenger, The Leader of the Arctic Tribe, The Founder of Arctic, The Friend and King of the Dwarves, The Father of Dragons, The King Beyond the Wall, The King of the Giants, The King of the Children of the Forest and Savior from Their Extinction, The One Who Can See and Learn from the Past, The Teacher, The Warg King, The Dragonrider, The Lord of the Depths, The King of Arctic, The Scourge of Oldtown, The Monarch of the Seas, The Keyholder of the Iron Bank, Azor Ahai or The Last Hero, The One Who Will Lead Humanity Against Its End, The Explorer of Valyria, The Breaker of Greyscale, The Purifier of the Green Fever, The Greatest Warrior in the World, The Okuchi no Makami (Great Wolf-Deity Protector), The White Wolf, The Master of the Extinct White Dragon Style of the Snowy Mountain, The Friend of the Samurais, The Legendary Hero of Yi-Ti, The Invincible General, The Friend and Ally of Yi-Ti, The Greatest Navigator in the World, The Greatest Merchant in the World, The Chainbreaker, The Most Powerful Man in the World, The Breaker of Khals, The White Walker Slayer, and finally, The King of the Most Powerful Kingdom in the World.'

It would certainly tire the tongue of even those used to speaking.

Regardless, the gaze of the King of Arctic turned to everyone present after saying his earlier words.

All his ministers were none other than:

Ducken – A human, Commander of the Arctican Army and responsible for the kingdom's security and military training.

Brynden – A human, responsible for intelligence and information reports.

Thor – A dwarf, in charge of production and manufacturing (notably the construction of the wall, ships, glass, and new structures in the city).

Seraphine – A Child of the Forest, Minister of Magic and Arcane Affairs, including the sacred groves and serving as a bridge between the religion of the old gods and the kingdom.

Kiera – A human, Minister of Justice and Law, responsible for law enforcement and city patrols.

Gavron – A human, Minister of Finance and Treasury. He had left the fleet after the negotiation with Braavos and returned to Arctic, but had since managed Arctic's relations with the city of Braavos.

Haran – A giant, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Aemon – A human, responsible for the academy and the integration of educators.

Junly – A human, responsible for all maritime trade routes and their monitoring.

Darius – A human, responsible for the kingdom's diplomacy with other nations.

And finally, the last member to take a seat at the most important table in the kingdom was Mance—the minister Jon had appointed to be responsible for the people themselves. He transferred the task of organizing the city—once handled by Brynden or Aemon—to Mance. Mance was also responsible for passing on any issues from the city to other ministers, such as Thor for construction or Kiera for law.

In any case, Mance was still somewhat surprised since arriving in Arctic. While he was attending the meeting, it was clear that the others present were far more intelligent than he was—able to think quickly and discuss any topic.

Obviously, he had begun receiving a great number of professors to educate him and teach him everything he needed to firmly establish his position on the council. Jon had been clear: if he could not truly develop the competence to help responsibly decide the future of the kingdom at that table, he should step down.

Mance had agreed to this, and he certainly didn't want to lose his place at that table—being able to take part in decisions and look after the interests of the new inhabitants of Arctic in the best way possible.

That was the deal he made with Jon, to ensure the free folk's trust in living there—alongside the arranged marriage between Val and Jon, who were still in the early stages of getting to know each other.

Mance knew this was a decision Jon had made with no turning back. He didn't fully understand the trade or the diplomatic relations Arctic had with the world below the Wall yet, but Jon was about to change that. The decision Jon was making now would change everything.

"It's time. We'll close the kingdom completely."

Jon Arctic spoke those words, and everyone there understood the weight they carried.

From that moment on, the kingdom would sever all contact with the outside world. There would be no more trade, no more communication—Arctic would isolate itself while fighting a war that no one but them could imagine. A war that would become the last line of defense against the world's destruction.

The South would have no idea how much they owed their survival to the fight Arctic was founded to wage—the very war for which Jon had received his powers and begun everything.

Author's Note:

With the plan to capture Cannibal before the war against the dead, I had to shift a few things around in my schedule. But when I started writing this chapter, I didn't expect it to become so long just naming and explaining the titles Jon earned throughout his life—since he stopped being the bastard of Winterfell.

If I forgot any other title that Jon earned and is worthy of note, please remind me!

I wanted to revisit his whole journey up to this point, and how he's known to so many by so many different titles.

I believe these 43 titles make for a solid character development arc before Game of Thrones, don't you think?

I'm considering doing a one-year timeskip to jump straight into the middle of the war against the dead and Westeros' climax with the death of the king... Where everything began: on one side, the War of the Five Kings, and on the other, the final stages of the war against the dead.

I still need to figure out how to perfectly deliver that moment—it's the most anticipated point in this fanfic, with Arctic finally heading south and joining the war of kings.

I do have my rough drafts of Arctic invading the Seven Kingdoms… but I'll need to change a few things.

Oh, did you know I wrote this story back in 2022? I had no internet because the provider left my region, and with nothing else to do, I decided to create a Game of Thrones fanfic that aligned more with how I wished the story had gone. I wanted something that honored the full scope of the world while delivering a true hero's journey—something I felt was missing in the show.

So I wrote non-stop for an entire month. I got as far as Jon razing Westeros' castles with wildfire in a campaign of vengeance. He destroyed the Iron Islands, nearly the entire Westerlands, and even the Reach—bringing terror and destruction before advancing toward King's Landing.

But that was just a rough draft…

So yeah, it got a bit over the top, with Jon using the White Walkers' own magic—reviving people he killed using a piece of an undead—to terrorize the Lannisters, blowing up castles while infiltrating Westeros alone.

Still, I loved the part in my draft where Jon encounters Lady Catelyn during this. I'm sure you'll enjoy that too when I get there.

In my original draft, Daenerys wasn't saved by Jon—and they were eventually going to fight one another. But, as you can see, things have changed.
