Chapter 324 - Chapter 324 - Revolution.

[Chapter Size: 3400 Words.]

---------------------------------------

Third Person POV

Arctic, 298 AC.

---------------------------------------

The meeting with their wives took place right after lunch in another place while the children complained, the babies were left to the handmaidens and the older ones went to the area where the children had a place to play.

This meeting was basically summed up in the southern issues, while Jon explained and they listened attentively. Only Jon and the queens were present, even Val, after Jon invited her.

"I can't believe that lunatic did something like that..." Ygritte said angrily after hearing what Cersei had tried to do to Arya.

"Yes, and even with all the injuries Arya inflicted on her, she kept provoking. But it doesn't matter now, the old lion's two children are badly hurt. And he won't stand still..." Jon said.

"That was too little." Rhaenys commented with her arms crossed. She hated the Lannisters. Among all the wives, she was the one who felt the most hatred and showed it. Perhaps her upbringing in Dorne had given her this great desire for vengeance. Even though Rhaenys was never as radical as her cousins and uncles, as Jon had known her, there was still hatred and resentment within her.

She even had resentments against Lyanna Stark, even though she loved Jon and had already given him two children. It was very difficult for Rhaenys to forget the past, she never spoke of Lyanna after Jon said he would not forgive, and she respected that, but her heart still held negative feelings about it.

So her anger against the Lannisters, even after the misfortune Cersei and Jaime Lannister were in at that moment, was normal. She simply looked with indifference at the fact that Cersei Lannister had practically lost her face. The only person who could heal her was Jon, with the power of magic the old gods had given him. He could heal wounds and scars, as long as he didn't need to bring back an entire limb — as far as was known, he had never succeeded. Still, he could bring her face back. Obviously, he would be the last person Cersei would ever ask anything from. So it was nothing more than a distant thought.

"I feel sorry for that girl... the daughter of that vile woman. How could she do something like that just to go against the idea of Jon betrothing her daughter? Besides, that would never happen anyway, right?" Hiyori said with a horrified tone. She was among those who had the most compassion there, and she did not like at all what Cersei had done to her own daughter. When Jon told them what he had read in Arya's letters, all of them were shocked at the fate of Myrcella Baratheon.

"It's sad what happened, but we can't do anything. We can't control the whole world." Jon shrugged in the end. He thought Westeros would still have a place for Cersei's daughter, though he also thought it bad that the girl had followed that path under her mother's influence. But it wasn't his problem.

"And now we are in a two-front war?" Daenerys asked, with a touch of concern.

"We were already at war both with the dead and with the southern kingdoms. It only escalated to the point where the dead are at our doors, at the same time the king and his queen acted directly against one of us." Jon said.

"However, we are going to fight the dead, right? The South isn't going anywhere." Val asked from a corner, with her arms crossed, while Jon nodded and turned his gaze to the other women.

"Yes, our focus will be entirely on the dead. The South will be dealt with later. I'm worried about the Stark family. I don't want them in a bad situation while we're at war here." Jon said.

"You said your uncle didn't accept being Hand of the King, which means he's going to remain in the North. If he holds the North, we can help her as soon as we get out of here. We won't take too long, right?" Daenerys said to Jon.

"Obviously..." Jon paused before continuing.

"I'll just say that I'll probably be going to war as soon as we finish here in the North. We will launch against the South." His voice sounded like the steel of a blade, he was declaring his will to fight against the Seven Kingdoms much more openly than he had ever spoken.

Jon's words seemed to draw a gleam from Rhaenys when she heard that.

"Jon, this wasn't just because Arya was attacked, was it? There's more to it." Seryna said, a little suspicious.

"No. I've already decided. This is about our children. We're going to take Westeros." Jon declared, while Ygritte leaned back, worried about some things.

"Are you sure about this, Jon? You never showed that desire before..." Ygritte commented.

She and Seryna knew very well that Jon had never had any desire to take the South. This came recently.

"Because if we don't fight now for the Seven Kingdoms, my children or my grandchildren will fight due to their claims. I just want to take this fight off their shoulders. If it's for me to complete this kingdom as far as I can, while my life lasts, I will. And Westeros is not a hard conquest. We can deal with them easily." Jon declared.

"Not only that. I am heir to the Iron Throne. I intend to claim what was stolen from the Targaryen family, from my family, as well as avenge everything that happened to those who killed the innocent members of our house. With the conquest, I will have once and for all Westeros with Arctic. All Seven Kingdoms will merge into Arctic."

"You know the southern nobles won't like one bit that the capital is so far North." Daenerys did not fail to comment, opening a smile.

"That's true. But they won't have a choice. We will put someone to command King's Landing, but the city will no longer be the capital of the Seven... or rather, Eight Kingdoms from this moment on. Arctic will remain the capital and the place where the king will dwell."

"And who do you intend to place as regent of the former capital of Westeros?" Rhaenys did not fail to ask, while Jon kept his gaze on her for a few seconds.

"Loki, my heir. There is no doubt that he will take the throne of Arctic until I say otherwise." Jon said firmly. "However, my second son, Jaehaerys, I think it is more fitting that he have King's Landing for himself. That way, he will have his dragon to come and go from Arctic all the time."

Rhaenys nodded, understanding Jon's reasoning and she could not say she was happy that her son had such a position. None of the other women said anything, though they exchanged glances among themselves.

In the end, Jon drank his last cup of wine from Arctic's vintages, which they had on that table when the meeting began, the servants had brought them the drink.

"Well, we're done here. Tomorrow I want to spend a little time with you, but I'll still be busy most of the day. That's why it's better to finish now. I still have things to do before I sleep. I'll spend the night with Val."

He spoke naturally, while they also finished their wines and everyone began to rise.

"All right, my husband. See you tomorrow." Seryna approached and kissed him, while Ygritte came right after.

"Have a good night, Jon." She said, also giving him a kiss.

Daenerys, Hiyori, and Rhaenys also said their goodnights right after, saying they would fetch their children. Only Jon and Val remained, while she looked at her cup, being the only one who hadn't finished. She seemed hesitant.

"You don't seem to like the wine very much." Jon commented.

"It's strange, but it's good." She said, before drinking the rest all at once just to finish it quickly, making a grimace. "It's hard to get used to as well..." She said in the end. Jon only smiled and invited her to leave the place.

"Let's go to the laboratory now." Jon said, leaving together with her.

They were escorted by guards to the place, which was not far from there, from the small audience chamber. On the way, they met some of the queens carrying their children, with the little ones already sleeping in their arms while those who remained awake raised their hands to Jon and wished him a good night. There were also his direwolves, while the younger ones were still pups, Loki's and Lyanna's were almost adults, resembling horses walking through the castle corridors.

Upon entering the laboratory, Val was faced with the sight she was already, in a way, accustomed to; she came across shelves full of flasks of liquids that Jon himself had created.

There were all kinds of ingredients, even a small garden with efficient plants that Val found very beautiful and which, according to Jon, were species that could not exist in the North and were very rare anywhere in the world.

There, Jon had an infinite quantity of them, since he only needed to use his powers to recreate any petal or part plucked for his special potions. A crystal glowed nearby, the same system used in the artificial garden inside the castle.

Val was about to walk to the chair she usually took when Jon brought her here, but she noticed that Jon hadn't moved. When she looked at him, his eyes were fixed on the garden she had been thinking about just a moment ago. His eyes shone brighter than ever.

"Something wrong, Jon?" Val asked suddenly, while he stood still looking at the crystal, not failing to show a smile as he stared at it for several seconds, without saying anything.

"I just had an idea. Sorry, sometimes they come without thinking." Jon said, laughing, as he walked through the laboratory, picked up a notebook from one of the tables. "This should do..." He said as he took out his pen... and began to write in it.

Val stayed silent, watching him scribble quickly in the notebook with a wide smile on his face, and her curiosity got the better of her.

"And what would that be, Jon? Could you explain to me what you're doing?" She asked, curious. She always asked about everything, so it wasn't such a strange question.

Jon widened his smile even more without looking at her. "I was thinking here, when I looked at that crystal illuminating the little garden." Jon said, pointing to the crystal, but without taking his eyes off the notebook, while Val remained uncertain.

"I was thinking when I saw you admiring the crystal... If the crystals were created by me to generate light, which is a kind of energy... why couldn't I create crystals to be energy batteries?" Jon said, murmuring, while he seemed to dream at that moment of countless possibilities of what he could create.

"Energy batteries? I don't understand what that is." Val asked, having no notion of what Jon meant, while Jon was still lost in all the possibilities, creating theories in his mind, almost forgetting that Val was there.

"Think about it, Val." Jon finally spoke again, still in a trance, as he began to write in his notebook. "The windmill needs the wind to grind the grains. I don't know if you've seen some of them on Arctic's farms."

"My sister spoke about that. She said you use the Northern wind to grind the grains." Val commented, while Jon nodded.

"Exactly. Now think: what if we could create a machine that did exactly that, but without needing the wind? Instead, I would use something else to power its function... like a Forcewheel... Or Animator, Mover, Turner... whatever name that thing might have!" Jon said, starting to laugh.

He himself was surprised by the idea that had arisen so randomly. A short while ago he had been discussing with his queens about taking all of Westeros for himself, and now he was trying to create a revolution that might take the world to a more advanced stage.

"Well... I don't understand anything about what you're talking about, Jon..." She said as she crossed her arms, a little irritated at not understanding anything Jon was saying. "...but that's a little hard to believe." Val confessed, unfamiliar with those concepts. "Maybe I'm not the right person to talk to you about these things."

Jon gave her a smile and looked at her for the first time since he had picked up that book.

"You don't need to belittle yourself so much, Val. You're still learning. But it's not just a matter of windmills or grinding grain with the force of the wind. I want to think about things we could use with energy crystals. Like moving ships without needing the wind. Creating even changes in people's daily lives just by using magical energy crystals, maybe heating their food with it or even cooling it as we do with ice... Imagine the possibilities of magical machines we could create." Jon kept writing until he spoke his last word.

"The great Weirwood gives its magical energy to our ice boxes... If I can transfer the same energy to crystals that would work as fuel... I can use the same concept that the sacred tree uses... The possibilities of this... it's incredible!" Jon laughed and then reduced his wide smile to a more satisfied one and closed the notebook.

"Well... anyway, this will be a matter for another time." He laughed. He couldn't remember being so satisfied that day when he had dealt with dragons, with his greatest spies, and even his children causing trouble and headaches. Even after discussing Arctic's future with the queens, perhaps he had just taken his first step toward a revolution that would change all of history.

Jon always grew frustrated and incredulous that, in eight thousand years, Westeros seemed stagnant, with little progress. Not just Westeros, but the whole world stood still. If they could use those crystals to form common energy... Jon had already seen writings from Yi-Ti about using the sun's energy, or even about when they created watermills in Westeros. All used to move mechanisms and generate the necessary force for some function.

If Jon could use the crystals as energy cores, he could change the whole world, more than he had already done or even imagined. Create machines that moved with magical energy... and the fuel, the same crystals.

Anyway, he set the notebook aside. It was no longer important at that moment. He needed to deal with Val, who was still watching him with suspicious eyes, due to his unusual behavior.

"Well, anyway, let's begin." He said, as he approached her. "Sit in the chair."

He pulled out a chair for her, asking her to stretch out her arm. And that's what she did. Jon sat beside her, took a needle, and made a small puncture in one of her fingers. Val didn't even blink — she was tougher than that.

Jon placed an open glass vial underneath and let the blood drip. After a moment, he pulled a table to the side, which moved through a contraption created by the dwarves. On it, he positioned some mirrors and what he called a telescope — an invention like a small magnifying glass, improved from some ideas of ancient experiments and even some Yi-Ti scientists.

While the blood dripped, Jon began checking the samples, touching them with another small needle, stirring the liquid as he observed. Val only kept watching him handle her blood.

Jon took some vials and began mixing them with the blood, drop by drop, observing everything through the telescope. He wanted to see how the blood was reacting to certain chemical mixtures.

All the strength and growth potions, he had to make them tailored each time someone would take a new dose, because he had to see how the body reacted.

"Your body is strong, Val, it's quickly defending itself from all the potions and effects I'm placing on it..." Jon said as he continued mixing more combinations.

Val stared as she watched Jon working, using small pincers to drop bits of several potions, standing up to fetch more vials from his shelf and returning to continue the tests.

Val didn't understand much of what he was doing, but certainly those potions were important, since they made her stronger. She had seen her growth since she started taking them. She didn't know how, but Jon was making her stronger, and she wanted more of it. She wanted to be strong, just like the other queens.

Half of them didn't fight, counting Val among the six. But those who did... Val had never seen women like that. She was already impressed with the lightning guards, but when she accepted Ygritte's invitation and saw her fight in a small sparring, she was startled. The red-haired woman had just given birth and still fought like a monster.

All attempts to face her failed. She was faster and stronger than Val had ever been. Not even a man moved that way. Later, she saw Seryna. Even pregnant, she picked up a hammer that seemed heavier than Val herself; when she struck with force, she said she wanted to test the weapon Jon had given her. Val saw a stone in the castle garden and went there with Seryna, then when she struck, the blonde was astonished to see an entire stone crack.

She never asked, but heard rumors that Seryna was a giant who, somehow, had become human. Perhaps that explained her monstrous strength.

Val wasn't at that level, but that didn't mean she didn't want to be. She wanted to be stronger, and Jon was there, giving that to her.

Anyway, Jon kept working until he began making combinations. After feeling satisfied, he placed a small amount of liquid with several mixed potions into a vial, shook it, and held it up to the light to check what he called the purity of the potion.

"I think this is the form for you at this moment. You'll take it for the next three years, before we deal with the last potion." Jon said, while Val only listened in silence. He simply adjusted a few more things in the laboratory.

"I think that's good. I'll prepare it in the next few days. Just give me two to five days and you'll already be taking your new version." Jon said, while jotting some notes down in that notebook so he wouldn't forget. He soon turned his gaze back to Val. "Let's go."

In the end, they left the laboratory. Although they were going to sleep together, she would finally have Jon all to herself. She couldn't help but feel a little excited at the unconscious idea of becoming pregnant, but she also wanted to fight. She could have both, she murmured inwardly, as she looked at Jon's back.
