Chapter 13 - Human monster

The Manicure Monster had gathered with all the other monsters, screaming:

"For years we have been searching for the lost key. Our leader, the Dragon Monster, will destroy us if we fail. He has been resting with the ancient monsters for 100 BC, and now, 50 centuries have passed since we began our search, yet we have not found that key!"

Among them were strange monsters—huge cats that were killed by dragons long ago, while the smaller cats fled the castle. These cats had the power to transform into any form.

Manicure shouted:

"You cats! If you live among us, I will destroy you if you do not hand me the key!"

The mutant cats cried back:

"Pay back the money to Capelli!"

Manicure turned toward them. Capelli… the name carried a heavy story. The monster Magisi—father of the boy Siali—was once a human-like monster. He had been killed by others of his kind, and they took his great wealth.

It was said that Magisi had spent years accumulating his fortune, intending to build a grand, spacious house. He worked as the director of an institution. One day, feeling tired, he was visited by a human-like monster.

Capelli welcomed the visitor:

"What do you want?"

The monster replied:

"I have a problem and I want your help. A villager guided me here and said, 'Go to Capelli, he will help you.' My car broke down, and I need to repair it. Could you lend me the money? When I return from my trip, I will pay you back. Give me a week."

Capelli asked:

"How much money do you need?"

The monster answered coldly:

"I want everything you have."

Capelli hesitated:

"But… my key will be lost."

The monster smirked:

"Keep a little for yourself, and lend me the bulk of your wealth."

Capelli, being a man who loved helping others, did not refuse. He gave the monster most of his fortune, keeping only a small amount to cover his daily needs.
