"Chief." The guard began, but the chief placed a finger to his lips to silence the guard. The guard lowered his voice to a whisper as he came to a stop before the chief. "Sorry, chief, you wanted to see me?"
"Yes, they have found the prince." The chief says with a bright smile. "They have?" the guard shouts, then claps his hand over his mouth. "Sorry, chief, they have? How is he? Where is he?" The guard asks in disbelief. "All will be revealed soon. How is the mission going?" the chief asks.
"Well, the fact that Dmitri was questioning the guards, staff, and police about the whereabouts of the three men that escaped, now has a few people wondering if those men have something to do with the prince's disappearance, but that is only because he conveniently left out the fact that those men were working for him...
All those he questioned didn't have the answers he needed, so he is still clueless as to where those men are right now." The guards finish with a smug smile.
"Good, I hope he remains clueless until the prince returns home, that way he won't see what is coming. Is he still overseas?" "Yes, chief, wait, pause that." The guard said as his phone went off. "He's back, says here, he's in his private quarters and needs to see me right away." The guard report.
"Shit, that was quick. Why the hell is he back so soon? Alright, go see him, but keep your wits about you, be careful, and I know this goes without saying, but repeat what I said to you to no one, got it? I mean no one, not even someone you think may be on your side."
"Don't worry, chief, my lips are sealed." The guard bows before running from the office.
"Ten minutes later, the guard knocks on the door to Dmitri's private quarters, opens the door slowly, then pokes his head in. "Sir, are you in here?" he asks. "Get in here quickly," Dmitri growls. "You sure took your bloody time," Dmitri adds with a snort.
"Sorry, Sir...good gracious Sir, what happened to you?" The guard asked, rushing towards him as Dmitri was all bruised and bloody.
"Is the chief still here?" Dmitri asked with a groan. "Yes, Sir, he is." "Do you have his number?" "No sir." The guard lied. "Of course, you don't, your rank isn't high enough to have his number." 'That's what you think,' the guard thought, biting his tongue.
"Go and get him and bring him to me as fast as you can, go damit!" Dmitri snapped as the guard stood staring at him. "Right away, Sir." The guard nods and runs from the room.
On reaching Dmitri's door, the chief took a deep breath. All the suspicions led to this man being the one behind everything that had happened to this family, and the fact that the three men they had held overseas named him as their leader wasn't enough to have him arrested; his lawyer could say that they are lying.
They needed concrete proof, something tying him directly to all this tragedy, so he had to stall until the number one witness returned to the palace, the one person who could put this man away for good, the prince.
Taking another deep breath, he pushed the door open and stepped in. "You called for me...Sir...my word... what has happened to you? Who did this?" The chief asked, walking over to Dmitri. "The king ordered a hit on me, but I managed to escape." Dmitri groans.
"The king..sir?" "Yes, the damn king tried to have me killed." "Why on earth would your father want to kill you?" "Don't you dare use that word?" Dmitri hissed. "The reason he wants me dead is that I now know the truth, that's why."
"The truth, sir?" "Yes, the prince killed his mother and fiancée, and when the king found out, he killed the prince. I confronted him and begged him to confess so we could put all this behind us and move on, but instead of doing that, he tried to have me killed instead." Dmitri groans, then adds.
"I'm the only one that can testify to all this, so I'm going to need more protection immediately and get me the Royal physician! Now." He orders.
"Sir, if you're the only one that can prove that this is indeed true, then you can't stay in this palace; we need to get you into protective custody right away." "No, you will not, I'll not be the one leaving. I want that man arrested, this instant!"
"Sir, that is the king." "And you are the chief of police, do your damn job!" He barks. "Yes, sir." The chief nods before leaving the room.
A few minutes later, the chief knocks and enters the king's office. "Your Majesty, may I have a word?" "I just had the most wonderful news I've had in a long time, so why do I have the feeling you're here to ruin that?" The king asks, narrowing his dark eyes at the chief.
"I apologize in advance, Your Majesty, but Dmitri has stepped up his game; he's now accusing you of trying to kill him." The chief says.
"Trying? If I wanted that insect dead, he would've been dead months ago, but death is too simple for him. I plan on making him suffer. He's going to beg me to kill him when I'm through with him." The king snorted.
"He's determined to dethrone you at all costs, and since we still haven't been able to directly link him to everything that has happened, we need to outsmart him, and now that the prince has been found, I think I've a plan on how to do that." The chief says, then adds.
"But it will require you to leave the palace for a short while." "I will not allow that imbecile to chase me from my home." The king growls. "He won't, Sir, in the end, he will be the ultimate loser, but this plan won't work unless you work with us."
"And you're sure this plan of yours will work?" The king asks skeptically. "A hundred percent positive, Your Majesty."
"My son needs time to arrive home safely and if I let this insect believe that he has won, the less damage he might do, so okay, I'll do it, for my son." "One more thing your Majesty."
"What now?" He asks massaging his temples. "You'll have to leave the palace in handcuffs." The chief flinch as the king's dark eyes flash with undiluted anger.
"What?" He hiss through clench teeth. "Please trust me your Majesty, this will work." "Oh, it had better or I'll have your head planted on a spike and if it's the last thing I do, I'm going to make this son-of-a-bitch pay for all he has done." The king swears angrily.

"You know what to do right?" The chief asks the guard. "Yes chief, I'm on it." "Good, lets bring this ass-hole down."
A broad smile spread across Dmitri's face as he saw the king been led towards a police vehicle in handcuffs. "Got you now old man, I'll ensure that you do not leave that holding cell alive. This entire kingdom now belongs to me." Dmitri's evil smirk widen as he lean against the window ledge.
