Mathayus took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he was being led towards the office, where he was told that his father was awaiting him. He literally couldn't wait to see his father again, and after everything his father had been through, he was relieved that he was safe.
He was a few feet away from the office when his father stepped from it into the passage, and without even thinking twice, he took off down the passage, running at full speed towards his father's open arms.
Throwing himself into his father's arms, he wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tightly. "Oh, wow, your strength has increased." His father's voice was full of admiration and pride. "It has," Mathayus mumbles from his father's shoulders.
"Welcome home, son." His father returns his hug full force. "It's wonderful to be back where I belong," Mathayus mumbles again. "Oh, the hell you must have gone through. I want a detailed account of it all, but first, let's finish this." His father nods, and Mathayus nods in agreement.
On arriving at the police station, the guard opened the car door for Dmitri to step out, which he did with his nose held high with pride. "This way, sir." The guard nods, opening the door to the station, and Dmitri strolls in, looking at each officer inside as if they were dirt on his shoes.
The chief snorts and shakes his head before approaching them. "I'll take it from here, you've work to do.' The chief nodded, dismissing the guard, who quickly hurried away. "This way, sir," the chief indicates down the passage with a smug smile that went unnoticed by Dmitri.
"I heard that you'll be sentencing that murderer today, so let's get on with it. 'I've other important business that needs my attention." Dmitri steps into one of the offices and takes the seat that the chief indicates.
"Now, before we begin the sentencing, I've some concerns." The chief begins opening a file, at which time an officer escorts the king into the office. "Keeping up appearances, I see." Dmitri's tone was laced with scorn as he fixed the king with a hostile glare.
"As you are? I see," the king replied with equal hostility. "If you think that coming in here immaculately dressed will prevent you from being executed for murder, then you're dead wrong.' Dmitri sneers.
"I agree with you totally, immaculately dressed or not, there's no power on the face of this earth that will stop this execution." The king says his tone cold and firm. "Good to see that you've accepted your fate." The king snorted but said nothing.
"What the hell is going on here? He looks way too cool or someone about to be executed." "That's the thing, after the king..." "Former king." Dmitri snaps. "Yes, as I was saying, after the king was arrested a few cameras were placed in the palace to capture the king's accomplices, and needless to say, we captured some disturbing things," the chef explains.
"Whatever was caught on these cameras can't be used as evidence," Dmitri growls. "And why is that?" the chief asks. "This man has people working for him that can fabricate videos, hence causing someone else to be blamed for his actions," Dmitri growls through clenched teeth.
"I'll take that into consideration." The chief nods. "My next concern is that three witnesses have come forward stating that you were the one who killed the queen and the Prince's pregnant fiancée and that you were the one who tried to kill the Prince." The chief adds.
"What do you mean, tried to kill the Prince? Last I heard, he had been dead for months now, and my patience is wearing thin with all this bullshit." Dmitri straightens in his chair and squares his shoulders in confidence.
"There's no one on the face of this earth that can accuse me of such a thing. I'll take on anyone who tries to pin any of this on me. I demand that you bring me these witnesses at once." Dmitri barks.
"As you wish. Bring them in." The chief orders and three guards drag his three accomplices into the office. Fucking idiots, of course, they had to get caught by the police, but no way in hell was he going to allow them to drag him down with them.
"Aren't these the three traitors that escaped from the palace? For all we know, they could've been working for him." He says, pointing to the King. "They should be executed next to him." Dmitri snorts.
"What is the meaning of this? You were the one we were working for, not the king!" One of them shouts. "Silence! Why are we entertaining this bullshit?" "Because these men say that you're their boss." The chief says his arms folded across his chest.
"That's because he told them to say so! How dare you call these ingrates in here to defame my character?" He demands glaring at the king.
"This is a complete waste of my time, and I'll not sit here another minute listening to this nonsense!" Dmitri barks, rising from his chair.
"Wait, we're not done here, there's another witness, someone who can prove without a doubt that what these men said is indeed true." The king says as he too rises from his chair.
"That's what you want us all to believe, but the fact is that it's just another person that you have paid to frame me." He sneers, then turns and glares at the chief, who was telling the guards to remove the three men from the room.
"You call yourself the chief of police? You should be ashamed of yourself. You're a disgrace to this country, and as soon as I am appointed king, your ass will be fired!" Turning on his heels, Dmitri storms towards the door, then stops dead in his tracks as Mathayus appears in the doorway.
"Going somewhere, brother?" He asks in a deadly tone.
