Lilia's POV
I stood together with Veronica on top of the building, the cold stone beneath our boots faintly damp from the night air, while we bore witness to something that could only be described as a crime. Not the clean, distant kind written neatly in reports, but the messy, obscene kind that made your brain stall for a moment because it didn't quite want to accept what your eyes were showing you.
"You've gotta be kidding me, right?" I muttered, a crooked, twitching smile pulling at my lips. At this point, my face felt like it was malfunctioning, muscles jerking on their own as if they couldn't decide whether to laugh, scowl, or just give up entirely. "This person really knows how to surprise me. I've never been surprised three times in a row in my entire life, and yet here he is, doing it so casually it's almost insulting."
And it was true.
