She looked down at the bunny in her arms and sighed. "Do you think he'll be okay?" she asked.
Mia, of course, was too busy eating her chocolate to respond. Which was a mercy, because she'd get even more testy if she did. Mia was very testy when she didn't get her chocolate.
And also just testy in general whenever it came to Merwyn. Emily didn't choose to sign up for the punishment of combining the two.
Salty, the unassuming pet of the wayward fae, just wriggled and nibbled on her finger.
She smiled and stroked the bunny's fur. It was so soft and fluffy. "You're a good boy, aren't you?" she murmured.
He wiggled his nose at her and made that cute little "bwee" noise that always made her smile.
"You're such a good boy," she cooed, kissing his head. "And I'm sure your papa will be back soon. He's a fae, and a very powerful one, so he can take care of himself. He'll be fine. And he'll come back."
Salty bwee'd again, as if in agreement.
