Emily awoke the next morning with a renewed sense of determination. Worrying and waiting for answers from Merwyn or the others was getting her nowhere. She needed to take matters into her own hands. Lord Garamond was the key. He had spies, he had foreknowledge, and he was supposed to be protecting her. It was time she confronted him directly and demanded some straight answers.
After a quick breakfast with Mia, who was still preoccupied with her chocolates, Emily found her way to Lord Garamond's study. The door was slightly ajar, and she could hear voices from within. One was Garamond's, the other... was Inari's.
"...certain this is the right course of action, Father?" Inari's gentle voice sounded troubled. "To keep her in the dark like this feels... deceitful. I don't like it."
