Chapter 555 - CHAPTER 555 - Born in War, Die in War

Amid the warnings of void invasions from around the globe, Li Lin paid no attention, his eyes fixed firmly on the massive hand emerging from the Howling Abyss.

In the next moment, more hands reached out, gripping the cliffs of the Howling Abyss and the Bridge of Sorrw that connected to the Frostguard Fortress. The Watcher had effortlessly destroyed the defensive structures along the abyss, and even the divine weapons launched from the Frostguard's main keep barely slowed its progress toward the surface.

Chaos erupted among the ice guards on the main bridge. The horns of war blared, not only among the Frostguards but also from Gregori, the Watcher of the Howling Abyss, sending a warning to the world.

The heavy, despair-filled sound reverberated through the heavens and earth, shaking souls and reaching deep into the Frostguard Fortress and across the entire runic lands.

Meanwhile, Volibear and Soraka were deeply alarmed, but Li Lin had already set his plans into motion. Ignoring the lives of the dozen or so Frostguard on the bridge, a space-based satellite armed with anti-matter beams activated at full power. A blinding, pale white beam hundreds of meters wide descended from the sky, engulfing the area around the Sadness Bridge.

Li Lin quickly returned to the cockpit of the Titan God and ascended into the sky to assess the situation below. Soraka, having relinquished her divine form, lost most of her power and was forced to retreat quickly, praying to the stars for a blessing.

The Watcher, engulfed by the anti-matter beam, was colossal. The vast, deep Howling Abyss now seemed "cramped" in comparison to it. With the suppression of the anti-matter beam, its movements were severely restricted. But as blue energy beams not of magical origin spread outward, the ice and rock melted and sank, while countless gray-white creatures with an almost life-like quality erupted from the ground, swiftly expanding and growing tough, purple-black exoskeletons.

The Watcher had finally made true contact with this material world.

"^≤&*%$#@!" A cacophony of meaningless, distorted sounds filled the air, a symbol of void and corruption, and purple light seeped from the cracked earth.

Soon after, monstrous void creatures of all shapes and sizes began pouring out, each one surpassing the power of a transcendent master. Some of them even had energy levels approaching those of the former Void Queen herself.

Tens of thousands of different mech units coordinated their efforts—close-combat units teleported deep into battle while long-range units fired anti-matter shells from hundreds of kilometers away, reaching the battlefield in the blink of an eye.

At the same time, multiple space-based satellites activated, launching dozens of gray-white beams from different angles, accompanied by the massive falls of anti-matter cannonballs from orbit.

Countless monsters fell, even the Watcher emerging from the earth was impacted.

But before long, a cold, eerie blue light centered on the Watcher erupted in an instant, expanding outward at terrifying speed. Where the blue light touched, purple void energy spread, distorting the very laws of physics and threatening to merge all things into nothingness.

Fortunately, dark matter was not a product of the material world. Though its power was greatly weakened, it could not be consumed by the void and still had a significant impact on the Watcher.

In the now somewhat transparent gray-white beams, half of the Watcher's body became visible to Li Lin's sight.

Its head, reminiscent of the helmets worn by Freljordian warriors, had a single eye that emitted a cold blue glow. Its body was draped in what seemed like a fur coat made of beast pelts, with dozens of pairs of grotesque, arthropod-like arms sprouting from its mutated form.

This was the Watcher after absorbing the concepts of the Freljord, transforming from a void energy entity into a physical form.

Countless tendrils extended from its chin, twisting and writhing in a grotesque and repulsive manner. A single glance at them made one feel as though their brain was being violently twisted.

Soon, every part of its body developed a consciousness, and its brain, eyes, and internal organs became part of a grotesque, self-aware system, feeding on enough energy to transform into the void's corrupt essence and break free from its decaying, lifeless form.

These distortions were vividly demonstrated on the Frostguard tribesmen below.

Seeing these ugly, soulless creatures devouring his land, Volibear let out a deafening roar.

Dark clouds gathered, and storms began to form. The winds swept across the desolate land.

As one of the will of the Freljord, the demigod Volibear felt the raging fury burning through him, his body radiating enough power to crush mortals with ease.

This was the blessing from the land, sensing the mortal threat.

"Storm, gather and lift me to the skies!"

The unyielding storm wrapped around him, electricity crackling fiercely, lifting his demigod form into the heavens.

In the next moment, a thunderstrike came crashing down, and Volibear's body swelled in size, leaping into the face of the Watcher.

The howling lightning surged into the Watcher's twisted body, clearing the earth in mere seconds. In less than a few seconds, the lightning covered an area of dozens of kilometers of ice plains.

Before the towering, incomprehensibly large Watcher, whose lower half alone was over 500 meters tall, Volibear's form, half its size, showed no fear.

Born for war, Volibear was the embodiment of it!

The thunderous strikes struck the Watcher's body relentlessly, but the creature only felt discomfort, with little impact from the blows.

Despite this, Volibear did not relent, tearing into the Watcher's form with his claws and fangs.

However, even with such strength that could easily crush most demigods, against the Watcher, it was as if a mere child was striking at a highly trained soldier.

No matter what means Volibear used to attack, aside from inflicting some pain, the impact on the Watcher was negligible.

To avoid harming the demigod, the anti-matter beam adjusted, focusing only on the Watcher's lower body that spread for thousands of miles.

However, this gave the Watcher a moment to breathe.

Its hundred-meter-long arms and tendrils tried to entangle Volibear, but the relentless lightning only seemed to empower the Watcher even further.

"Volibear!" Li Lin shouted urgently.

But Volibear, blinded by rage, paid no attention, continuing his reckless assault against the Watcher and the creatures born from its corrupt energy.

Seemingly irritated by the tiny pest clinging to it, the Watcher let out an enraged roar.

Like a grotesque mimicry of human hands, its massive appendages gathered ice-blue light.

An indescribable disintegration ray blasted outward, shattering the gray sky.

This was the ultimate darkness, a color beyond human perception, a void that signified the end of all things.

Even a demigod trembled before the power of this force, a force from another dimension. No matter how much Volibear tried to deny it, the terror swelling inside him was undeniable.

In an instant, his body was consumed by that corrupting force of the void.
