Chapter 607 - Sleeping in the Nude

As a vampire, Euryale naturally possessed the common weaknesses of her kind.

In other words, her activity ability declined during the day, and under sunlight, she suffered a slight racial penalty to her status. Her resistance to fire and holy attributes was also lower than average.

On top of that, special weapons made of silver or mithril could wound her body. Although such injuries were not fatal, unlike Shalltear Bloodfallen—who carried a low-tier resistance skill against weapon damage—Euryale could not completely ignore those metals since they still posed some degree of threat.

Because of this, Euryale disliked approaching silver items—though it was not to the point of fear, dislike was certain.

Meanwhile, while she also did not enjoy moving about in the daytime, at night, however, she was far more energetic—practically a night owl.

Of course, this was only a tendency of hers, not an absolute limitation, so she was not incapable of acting in daylight.

As a higher-tier vampire compared to an ordinary True Vampire, Euryale still had the common weaknesses of her race, but none that were insurmountable. Even in sunlight, she was not greatly affected—at worst, her state of mind grew somewhat sluggish.

Furthermore, although she inherited the weaknesses of a vampire, she also possessed their strengths.

For example, she had no vital points—even if her heart or brain were destroyed, she would not be killed instantly. No matter how heavy her injuries, her movements would never slow, and she could continue fighting endlessly until her negative vitality (HP) was completely depleted, and only then would she finally collapse.

As an undead, she was also immune to mental attacks.

Poison, paralysis, and instant-death attacks were also ineffective against her, and she had no need for food, drink, or breath—and even sleep was unnecessary. Nonetheless, she tended to fall asleep during the day just to pass the time, since her state of mind was poorer then.

She also possessed resistance to necromancy magic, immunity to status damage, immunity to stamina depletion, the ability to recover vitality through negative energy, dark vision, weakening of magic effects, and many other racial abilities.

She could also reduce damage from all physical attacks except for silver and magic weapons. Added to that were the signature vampire traits of rapid regeneration, Mystic Eyes of Charm, vitality absorption, and resistance to cold air.

Altogether, she could be said to have been reborn after becoming a vampire.

Incidentally, like Shalltear, Euryale could also drain others' blood to create a lower-tier vampire absolutely obedient to her.

However, perhaps because vampires were not magic casters but a race proficient in warrior-oriented abilities, Euryale could not use magic. Her combat style, as observed so far, consisted entirely of close combat, with no evidence of long-range abilities.

As another side note, for a vampire of Euryale's level, blood was merely a luxury, not a necessity, so she could survive perfectly fine without it. Her earlier overreaction to Riezel's blood had simply been because it seemed especially delicious to her.

As proof, Riezel had once tried offering her blood from others, yet not only did Euryale disdain it, she even frowned, clearly displeased by blood that did not belong to him. Even when he offered Lizbeth's blood, she had only reluctantly accepted it and showed no particular fondness.

All these were things Riezel had discovered after carefully observing Euryale, so when Lizbeth said Euryale was still asleep, he wasn't surprised at all since he had already come to understand the daily habits of this vampire queen.

Truth to be told, seeing Euryale staying quietly in the bedroom, sleeping so obediently, actually put him at ease since what he feared most was that, like Ainz, she might lose her humanity upon becoming an undead, turning cruel and merciless, treating lives as nothing.

It was understandable that, as a being of negative vitality, Euryale might feel hatred toward the living.

He naturally had no intention of indulging her for that reason.

If she became like Ainz and Shalltear, not only disrespecting life but actively seeking to trample it, then he would destroy her without hesitation—dust to dust, ashes to ashes.

Fortunately, she had shown no such tendencies so far.

Even though she could not exactly be called human, under his guidance, she lived normally and never attacked others without cause.

He had even instructed the servants of the Frenzel residence to interact with her for a time, and discovered that she had no interest in them at all and did not so much as spare them a glance, let alone attack them.

Up to now, the only person she had ever attacked seemed to be him.

As for the reason, Riezel had some guesses.

'Most likely because of my Pioneer of the Sun. It must've given my body some kind of unique presence that unconsciously attracted her, which is probably why she attacked me, right?'

Whether that attraction was good or bad, Riezel did not know—but by logic, it ought to be bad.

After all, the Pioneer of the Sun possessed a restraining effect against beings of an evil nature.

Given that Euryale had become a vampire, she was undoubtedly such a being, so someone like her would naturally feel repulsion toward him, whose very existence countered her kind, and thus had launched an attack against him.

Yet, on the other hand, Euryale adored his blood.

If there was something special about it, it was probably because of the spiritual body granted by the Pioneer of the Sun.

From that perspective, it almost seemed she was fond of it—not out of hostility, but genuine attraction.

In other words, it turned that 'attraction' into something positive, which was baffling.

'Could it be that Reinnail's bloodline allowed her, even as a vampire, to avoid becoming evil-natured—so instead, she was drawn to my spiritual body with fondness?'

Riezel couldn't help but have this speculation.

But if that were true, why did Euryale still bear all the typical weaknesses of a vampire—daylight, sunlight, fire, silver, and holy attributes alike?

As he walked down the corridor, Riezel could not figure out the reason, so he shook his head, casting aside those tangled thoughts.

'Forget it. If I can't figure it out, then I shouldn't dwell on it.'

After all, everything about Euryale's behavior so far had been satisfactory, so there was no need to worry over such small matters.

'As long as she doesn't lose control, then everything's fine.'

With this sense of relief, Riezel and Lizbeth together returned to the room where Euryale slept.

"Miss Euryale, I'm coming in, okay?" Lizbeth courteously called out before opening the door and inviting Riezel inside.

"Excuse me." Riezel also instinctively called out courteously, then stepped into the room.

As soon as he entered, however, he froze in place.

"Huuu… Huuu…"

Euryale lay on the bed, sound asleep—though an undead with no need to breathe, she gave the appearance of deep slumber, breathing evenly.

Of course, that itself was no problem—the problem was, although she was in deep sleep, she was completely naked.

Because she had kicked off her blanket, her figure, even more alluring and mature than Lizbeth's, was exposed to the open air.

Yes, this queen was sleeping in the nude.

"W-What?!"

Following behind Riezel, Lizbeth gasped aloud at the sight before rushing forward and snatching up the blanket, quickly covering Euryale.

"I-I forgot Miss Euryale doesn't like wearing clothes…" Lizbeth stuttered, glancing at Riezel awkwardly.

"..." Riezel fell silent for a moment, then asked as curiosity got the better of him. "Wait... when you slept with her, was she like this too?"

"M-Mm..." Lizbeth nodded, her face turning pink. "Not only does Miss Euryale dislike wearing clothes herself, but she doesn't like me wearing them either. Whenever I share a bed with her, somehow I always end up stripped without realizing it..."

Upon hearing this, Riezel immediately decided that from now on, no one must ever enter Lizbeth and Euryale's room.

No—more than that, no one should even come near it.

If servants were to tidy the room, then only women could be allowed.

Riezel carved this firmly into his memory, intending to have the steward issue the order later.

"I'll wait in my room. You wake her up." Riezel ordered calmly, then turned away, forcing himself not to look at the beautiful sleeping queen. "Yuri should be back soon. Let her meet Euryale."

Since he had brought someone as special as Euryale back, it was only right to tell Yuri.

He also wanted to discuss with Yuri the events at the ancient ruin of Reinnail, especially regarding Ice Maiden and her group—he had a strong feeling they were not simple people but were plotting some major conspiracy behind the scenes.

On these matters, Riezel wanted to hear the opinion of a local like Yuri, and at the same time, it would give her a chance to meet Euryale, so they could better arrange her identity.

After all, the fact that Euryale was the last queen of the ancient magical civilization was not something that could be made public.

For this reason, Riezel needed Yuri's help to arrange an identity for Euryale, so she could walk freely across the Akasha Continent without suspicion.

"Understood, Master." Lizbeth nodded in agreement.

Casting one last discreet glance at Euryale, Riezel strode out of the room.

Yes, this queen truly was Lizbeth's ancestor—in every way, her body was remarkably mature.
