Noticing that Medea had finally appeared, Jason and the heroes wanted to approach her.
However, they were all stopped by Alaric.
"Shouldn't we go ask her now how to hold off the dragon?"
Jason inquired.
Alaric simply waved his hand and pointed to his ear.
"Listen carefully."
Meanwhile, Medea, riding the unicorn, slowly approached the dragon's side.
The dragon merely glanced at her without making any extra movements, as if the two were quite familiar with each other.
Medea didn't make any unnecessary actions either, she simply sat on Lurue's back, her beautiful eyes gently closed, and began to sing.
A wondrous and unbelievably enchanting maiden's voice reached the ears of the Argonauts.
"Let our children sleep in their mother's arms.
Let the mother's hopes be entrusted to the child's dreams.
When the March sunlight gently caresses the earth.
The spring breeze also brings news of the grass growing..."
The girl's sweet voice flowed like a clear spring through the listeners' hearts, making them feel as if they were nestled in a mother's embrace, warm, comfortable, and utterly serene.
As the sound reached the Argonauts, it eased the tension they had been feeling from the dragon, soothing their anxious souls.
"What a beautiful song..." Orpheus, the one who loved music the most, couldn't help but sigh in admiration. "It's truly moving, a maiden's voice is the most touching of all."
"But what is she doing? What's the point of singing?"
The Argonauts were still somewhat puzzled, but under Alaric's insistence, they continued to wait patiently.
Soon, a miraculous scene unfolded.
Listening to Medea's song, the dragon began to coil its body and lie down on the ground, its eyelids growing heavier and heavier.
Before long, the dragon let out a massive snore and fell into a deep slumber.
"This... how is this possible?" The heroes exchanged glances, feeling as if it were all some kind of fantasy.
Such a terrifying dragon had actually fallen asleep because of a girl's song?
Though they all agreed that the girl's voice was exceptionally captivating, it couldn't possibly have such a powerful effect, could it? After all, that was a dragon.
Was the dragon just pretending?
In truth, everything that happened was utterly real, the dragon wasn't acting at all, to truly deceive the Olympian gods, Alaric couldn't have it perform here.
It had genuinely succumbed to sleep because of Medea's song.
The reason wasn't complicated.
On one hand, Medea's magic was indeed powerful enough. The principle of this spell was similar to a siren's song, subtly infusing magical influence into the listener's heart through music, catching them off guard and ensnaring them unwittingly.
With Medea, the genius magical girl, as the caster, and her voice being so exquisite, the effect was even more potent.
On the other hand, and this was the crucial part, the dragon had no defenses against Medea, nor against the song.
Otherwise, with the dragon's magic resistance and willpower, it could at least have fought to stay alert.
The Argonauts initially couldn't believe what they were witnessing, but soon they experienced the song's effects firsthand.
As the melody continued to echo in their ears, gradually, the heroes began to feel an overwhelming sense of tranquility in their hearts, as if nothing else in the world mattered, and the universe contained only themselves, enveloped in a warm embrace.
Then, they started to feel their eyelids growing unbearably heavy, their consciousness fading into a blur.
Instinctively, their bodies either leaned against a tree to sit or lay directly on the ground. Just before their awareness slipped into dreams, they suddenly realized that Medea's enchanting song truly possessed the power to lull one into sleep.
However, completely entranced by the song, they could no longer muster any will to resist and simply drifted into slumber.
They didn't know how much time had passed.
Jason suddenly felt himself being awakened by some inexplicable force.
His consciousness snapped back from chaos and haze in an instant.
As he sat up, he realized that he had unknowingly fallen asleep while listening to the song.
But now, no song reached his ears anymore.
Around him, the other heroes were also stirring awake from their deep dreams.
, Indeed, Medea's song has such hypnotic power. Could it be that we've all slept for a long time?
Jason was startled, if so, they might have missed their chance to steal the Golden Fleece.
So he looked toward Alaric.
After waking, Jason surveyed the surroundings and noticed that among the group of heroes rousing from sleep, only he seemed to have remained awake the whole time.
Seeming to sense his worry, Alaric immediately said,
"Don't worry, you've only slept for about ten minutes. I woke you up."
Jason breathed a sigh of relief.
He glanced toward the dragon's direction.
There, the dragon was still sound asleep, its heavy breathing accompanied by what seemed like snores, though Jason heard no sound.
Beside the dragon, Medea remained seated on the unicorn's back, her eyes closed, her cherry lips slightly parted, as if she were still singing, yet he heard no voice.
"What's going on here?" he asked again.
"I've set up a soundproof barrier nearby," Alaric explained. "Otherwise, I couldn't have woken you."
"As expected of Alaric, truly reliable," Jason relaxed, then looked toward the dragon.
"So, how do we steal the Golden Fleece?" He looked expectantly at Alaric. "If we step out of the barrier, we'll hear the song, right?"
"Yes," Alaric nodded. "This song carries magic, merely covering your ears won't block it. But I can cast a 'Deafness' spell.
Though it's a negative effect magic, in this situation, it can prevent hypnosis."
"Then cast it on Atalanta," Jason immediately said, looking up at the treetops. "Let the fastest one among us handle retrieving the Golden Fleece. Atalanta, what do you think?"
From the treetops, Atalanta stretched lazily like a kitten just waking up, her movements adorably drowsy.
Hearing Jason's suggestion, she agreed without a second thought.
"I understand."
Then, she leaped down lightly, landing without a sound.
Alaric snapped his fingers casually and nodded to her, indicating the spell was cast.
Sure enough, Atalanta felt her keen hunter's hearing vanish. The wind rustling through the trees, the chirping of insects, the voices and breaths of people, all of it disappeared.
"What a terrifying spell, just this one move has crippled so much of my perceptual abilities."
As a hunter and archer, hearing was one of her most vital senses.
Whether sensing the environment, tracking enemies and prey, or even judging incoming arrows and weapons in battle, hearing was indispensable to her.
Yet the mage had stripped her of it with a single spell. If such a person were an enemy, it would be a massive headache for her as a hunter.
But now wasn't the time to dwell on that.
Confirming that she wouldn't be affected by Medea's song, Atalanta immediately began to cautiously make her way toward the dragon.
