It had to be said: although this was the first time everyone had joined forces to fight a massive monster, the Argonaut heroes' coordination was surprisingly competent.
Yet, it was utterly useless.
As long as they couldn't break its defense, no amount of attack would have any effect.
As for the dragon…
Being struck by the Argonauts' weapons caused no real damage, but it still hurt.
To the dragon, this "pain" was like being bitten by an ant.
But for a proud dragon, being casually bitten by tiny ants was intolerable.
Immediately, it launched a counterattack against the Argonaut heroes.
In this situation, its enormous body revealed its true advantage.
Even a casual swipe of its claw forced ordinary people to expend all their strength just to dodge.
A sweep of its tail sent heroes rolling helplessly across the ground.
Its fearsome head forced anyone standing before it to stay constantly alert, one bite, and death was instant.
The dragon's body, stretching hundreds of meters, made the heroes uncomfortable with the rhythm of such a fight.
Their past battle techniques, their accumulated combat experience, all had been developed to face opponents of normal human size.
At most, they had fought beasts slightly larger than humans, usually only a few meters high or long. Even dragons they had encountered, like the bipedal fire dragons in the Harry Potter world, were no longer than ten meters.
Monsters over ten meters were extremely rare, even in the mythic Type-Moon world.
Creatures of that size were usually hydras, cyclopes, or true dragons…
Monsters of such enormous scale normally fought gods.
In other words, none of them had ever faced a dragon of this magnitude.
Perhaps each hero was skilled with every type of weapon, knew how to block or parry attacks, and could dodge efficiently with minimal movement to strike back.
But against a dragon whose attacks spanned tens of meters, these techniques were useless.
How could such heavy strikes be blocked?
One misstep and they would be blasted away, bones breaking under the sheer force.
How could they dodge such wide-reaching attacks?
All their footwork and evasion skills failed against the swipe of a claw or the sweep of a tail tens of meters long. The only way to survive was speed.
Only by running fast enough could they escape the attack's range before it struck.
In fact, at the very start of the battle, several heroes failed to adapt to the rhythm and were hit by the tail or claw.
Fortunately, heroes were more than skill and strength, they possessed superhuman physiques.
Thanks to their resilience, although injured, none of them were killed outright by a single strike from the dragon.
Even so, the casualties were significant.
At this moment, Asclepius stepped in.
The ship's healer acted like the team's support, pulling injured heroes off the battlefield and treating them immediately.
Soon, those wounded recovered under his care and rejoined the fight.
But injuries kept coming.
As the dragon swept, clawed, or flapped its wings, more heroes were struck by the overwhelming attacks.
One unlucky hero, ignoring the uneven ground, tripped into a shallow pit and was bitten directly by the dragon.
This hero, a demigod inheriting a divine physique from his father, couldn't withstand the dragon's teeth at all.
One bite tore him apart, blood splattering everywhere in a shockingly gruesome scene.
The dragon didn't eat its prey, spitting out the remains, but the horror left a deep impact on the other heroes.
They understood this clearly: against a dragon, even a moment's carelessness meant death.
The heroes became considerably more cautious.
Fortunately, only that one unlucky hero died in the fight.
The others, at worst, were severely injured. Even after Asclepius' urgent treatment, they couldn't immediately return to battle.
As the fight continued, the heroes gradually learned the rhythm of combat.
They figured out how to dodge the dragon's attacks.
If escaping a sweeping tail was impossible, dropping to the ground could avoid injury, as the tail didn't fully touch the earth.
They observed which enemies the dragon targeted with its claws.
They tracked the direction of wing strikes by wind patterns.
They studied its muscle movements to predict the next attack, like reading a boss's pre-attack animation in a game.
They even learned to approach the dragon's side to exploit attack blind spots and avoid massive damage.
The Argonaut heroes were extraordinary, their battle experience grew quickly, and they were struck less often as the fight went on.
As for the dragon?
From her perspective, the battle was increasingly infuriating.
These tiny pests were becoming cunning, harder to hit, and even when struck, recovered quickly.
It was like swatting flies, harmless yet endlessly annoying, and humans were powerless.
Even worse, these "flies" evolved into mosquitoes mid-battle, capable of inflicting minor harm.
They had discovered that the dragon's underbelly, though still armored, was softer than other parts. Repeated attacks there might break through.
Though such attacks barely pierced her skin, her powerful muscles prevented deep wounds, the pain was real.
And when these tiny pests dared to crawl onto her body, the dragon truly lost her temper.
