Chapter 52: Rules of Having a Wife.
One of the soldiers leaned against the table, polishing his mug with a rag, eyes flicking toward the door where Lieutenant Selene had disappeared.
He gave a low whistle.
"Do you think she can handle herself, Lieutenant Jonathan?" He asked, nudging Jonathan's shoulder with a rough elbow.
Jonathan sighs, finally picking up his cup of beer before drinking, years of them knowing each other breaks his heart. He glanced at the empty doorway where Selene had limped out, then down at the mugs in his hands. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, setting his cup down on the table with a soft thud.
It was well known that Rowan had her heart already in place- Selene was waiting for the right time for her to confess.
