Chapter 7 - The Revenge

Days passed.

Aleezeh visited her mother's grave every day.

She couldn't accept that she would never hear her mother's voice again.

One afternoon, she whispered,

"I'm going to make sure nobody gets away with what they did."

Noor brought food from her mother.

"Please eat."

"Thank Aunt for me."

Hassan arrived later.

"Assalam-o-Alaikum."

"Wa Alaikum Assalam."

"How are you?"

"Better."

"Your mother wanted you to have a future."

"I know."

"You can't stay here forever."

Aleezeh looked at him.

"I need time."

"Take it."

He turned to leave.

"Wait."

He looked back.

"Help me."

"With what?"

"I want justice."

Hassan nodded.

"I'll help you."

That night, Aleezeh walked home alone.

She saw Arslan in the distance.

Anger filled her.

She followed him.

For a moment, she thought about confronting him.

Instead, she picked up a stone and struck him.

He fell.

Aleezeh froze.

"What have I done?"

She ran home.

She washed her hands and sat on the floor.

Her anger disappeared.

Fear replaced it.

She couldn't sleep.

Then she heard police sirens.

A knock came at the door.

"Ma'am, please open the door."

Aleezeh opened it.

The police stood outside.

And beside them—

Hassan.

Aleezeh stared at him.

"Why are you here?"

Hassan looked at the police.

"She's the one you're looking for."

Aleezeh's heart broke.

"You…"

The police arrested her.

She didn't cry.

She only stared at Hassan.

"Why?"

He didn't answer.
