Chapter 15 - The Debt

Years later, Aleezeh stood outside a courtroom.

She wore a black lawyer's coat.

Her hands trembled slightly.

She looked toward the sky.

"Ammi, I did it."

She remembered the girl she had once been.

The girl who had been afraid.

The girl who had lost her mother.

The girl who had wanted revenge.

The girl who had almost allowed anger to decide her future.

She was still that girl.

But she had grown.

Noor stood beside her.

"Ready?"

Aleezeh smiled.

"Ready."

She looked at the courtroom doors.

Then she walked inside.

She had finally understood what her mother had wanted her to know.

Life doesn't always repay pain with answers.

Sometimes it gives you another responsibility:

To become better because of what you survived.

Aleezeh had spent years believing she owed a debt to her mother.

But she finally understood.

She didn't owe her mother revenge.

She owed her mother a life.

A meaningful life.

A life built on courage.

A life built on justice.

A life of her own.

She opened the courtroom door.

And stepped forward.
