Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Echoes of Betrayal

Fighting off the drowsiness that crept in, she sat on a chair, her gaze fixed on the closed bedroom door,

desperately yearning for the sound of his footsteps. However, fatigue eventually took its toll, and she fell asleep.

When the morning sun painted the room with its golden hues, Sophia awoke with a start. To her surprise, she found herself in bed, Levon beside her,

fully dressed and slipping on his shoes. Confusion clouded her still-tired eyes,

and she rubbed them, trying to make sense of the surreal moment.

"Levon!"

she exclaimed, her voice a mix of concern and apology.

"I'm so sorry. I don't know what you're thinking, but I promise I didn't do anything. Please, don't do this."

Levon, buttoning his shirt, turned to her, his expression unreadable. Before he could respond,

a message from Dave interrupted the tense atmosphere. Sophia, grabbing her phone from the bedside table, saw the notification:

"I am going to come over at 12 today, okay?"

She sighed, muttering to herself,

"Dave, great timing, ugh ."

As Levon continued preparing to leave, Sophia, positioned herself in front of him.

"Levon, please,"

she pleaded,

"give me a chance to explain. Tell me what I did wrong."

Just as he seemed about to reply, his phone buzzed with an incoming call from his assistant.

Levon, without a word, gestured for Sophia to release his hand. She complied

"Please tell me what I did wrong,"

she implored, tears welling up in her eyes. "Levon, don't do this."

He looked right into her eyes, his expression shifting from surprise to a cold resolve.

"You really don't know what you did? You really are a great person, Sophia—smart, nice, everything. Then why the hell can't you think about what you did wrong?

Her heart sank as he continued,

"Why should I tell you? Mrs. Easton, can't you think for yourself? Are you not the wife of Mr. Easton?"

His words cut through her like a blade, leaving her in shock. The sharpness of his tone,

the sudden anger in his eyes, shook Sophia to her core. The tears that had welled up now spilled down her cheeks.

As Levon let go of her wrist, Sophia crumbled to the ground, her pleas echoing in the emptiness of the room.

He turned and left without a backward glance, leaving her alone.

Heartbroken, Sophia ran after him, her cries becoming more desperate.

"Please, Levon, don't do this. Why can't you just tell me?"

He left without acknowledging anyone, the mansion now echoing with the shock of his abrupt departure.

Standing at the top of the stairs, Sophia, tears streaming down her face, shouted one last question:

"Why can't you just tell me?"

The maids, drawn by the commotion, rushed up the stairs, offering comfort and solace. However, Sophia,

overwhelmed by grief and confusion, broke away from their embrace, whispering,

"I want to be alone. Please."

Retreating to her room, she closed the door, and the weight of the unanswered questions

and the shattered pieces of her once-promising marriage pressed upon her. Alone in the silence, Sophia let her tears fall freely.
