They call them both as deduction and prediction because those that have those abilities couldn't really predict things that they knew nothing about or weren't related to any of them. So most of their predictions or deductions were actually about themselves or those around them, because the information that they knew about themselves and those around them was already high.
According to those experts, those with such abilities were only processing the information that they already knew and also subconsciously processing information around them that they hadn't even noticed themselves, which would then appear as vague images of what could happen in the future based on the information that they processed.
