"Then how do they know it was a 'shadow man' if they're insane?" Valentine asks, but he sounds more curious than truly skeptical. "They must be rambling about all sorts of things from the way you're describing it. What's to say this shadow person is anything else but that?"
Arlo looks at Valentine, and his expression is a mixture of pity and contempt. "You ask too many questions, minstrel."
Valentine shrugs, a lazy gesture. "Hunters don't live long if they don't question things. Besides that, I've seen plenty of city folk lose their minds in a forest they've never had to deal with before. Doesn't make it cursed." He says. "It makes it unfamiliar."
"You think you are more cunning than an entire generation of people who have learned to fear the forest?" Arlo scoffs. "You speak of 'cityfolk' and yet you come from Latrides, do you not? You have no concept of the wild."
