Adam froze as the chamber walls trembled with a low rumble. Dust fell from the ceiling, and the corpses on the stone table shuddered from the vibrations.
"Gege! Gege!" Standing in the corner of the room, the mimic couldn't help but scream in alarm.
"Silence!" Adam brought a trembling finger to his lips, commanding the mimic to stop yelling.
Despite the rune magic preventing any sound or smell from escaping the chamber, Adam couldn't help but feel extremely afraid.
Something massive was stirring outside.
He strapped the mimic—now in his rucksack form—around his back, then activated the enchantments of his stealth artifacts. With careful, silent steps, he slipped out of the hidden chamber, making his way through the ruined staircase until he exited the tower.
The ruined cityscape spread before him. The sun was about to set, painting the sky in shades of indigo. As twilight wrapped around the world, a vast presence arrived on the outskirts of the forgotten city.
