Queen Amira sat before the tall mirror in her chambers, dressed in a simple nightgown, slowly combing her crimson hair.
The room was lit by lamps, their glow reflecting polished marble stone and silk curtains. She hummed a light, merry tune under her breath, seemingly at ease.
Ever since Amira found Anna's recorded message and learned that she was safe and doing well, it felt like a great weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She no longer cried herself to sleep at night. She no longer had to hide her grief under a smile. For now, she was truly happy.
