"Your Highness, it seems you will not be returning to the clan with us."
Endi guided Valerian aside and spoke to him in a gentle voice. Meanwhile, Zagho knelt beside Adam, wrapping bandages around his wounds and carefully applying medicine to the worst of them.
Valerian lowered his head, his eyes tearing up. "I'm sorry, Lord Endi, but…"
He turned toward Adam and continued, "I can't leave my brother. He was the first person I saw when I was born. We were both orphans, and all we had was each other. Well… I thought I was an orphan, but I am happy to know that I have a family."
Endi's gaze softened. He hesitated for a bit, then stretched out his hand and gently patted the young prince's furry head.
"Adam is an exceptional Magus," he said. "I believe he will accomplish great things."
He paused briefly.
"But he is also driven by immense ambition. He seeks the very peak of magic, a goal so grand that most would not even dare to imagine it."
