Unable to accept it, Olivia stumbled forward, her feet carrying her to the massive stone.
Slowly, hesitantly, she reached out and pressed her palms against its rough, cold surface. Her hands trembled as she tried to push it...Nothing.
She tried harder, putting her entire weight into it. The boulder didn't budge an inch.
'Kafi...actually lifted this.'
"Mom?" Kafka's voice drifted over, calm and teasing. "What are you doing? Don't tell me...you're planning on lifting it too?"
"I-I…" Olivia's voice came out in a whisper. She turned her head slightly, still pressing her palms to the rock. "I just had to check. I was...making sure this is real and not some kind of prop. You know, like those fake lightweight boulders they use in movies."
At this, Kafka burst out laughing. "A prop? Out here? In the middle of nowhere? Mom, you can't be serious."
