Chapter 92 - Smuggling

Finally, my earpiece crackled to life. "I'm clear," Vince's voice came through, a note of relief in his tone. "Heading to the rendezvous now."

Greg and I exchanged a relieved glance. "We'll see you there," I said, a smile tugging at my lips.

For the first time that night, it felt like we had a fighting chance. But I knew this was far from over. Beltran wouldn't stop, and neither could we.

"Let's move," I said, standing up and adjusting my jacket. "We've still got work to do."

Greg and I remained seated for a moment, trying to catch our breath and blend in with the late-night parkgoers. The distant sound of sirens faded, but the tension remained thick between us.

Vince was still making his way to the rendezvous, and until he arrived safely, we couldn't relax.

Greg shifted beside me. "We need to start thinking ahead. Beltran's going to know someone was snooping around that warehouse. He won't let this slide."
