"I really didn't send it..." Tian sobbed as he gazed at the text on the screen. Who would send a stupid text like that? He didn't even like that Hua Lang, and he had actually been the first person to be happy when the guy disappeared. Why would he text that he knew the guy's location...? Thinking about it, Tian roughly wiped away his tears, his eyes already red from crying.
"I don't know him at all. Why would I send that...? Please, you have to believe me..."
He had seen many dramas and knew exactly what happened to people who got caught by the cops.
They went to jail!
And in prison, he would be tortured...
The thought alone was enough to make Tian's tears start rolling down uncontrollably again.
"I don't want to go to prison..." he wailed out loud.
The piglet sitting in his lap let out a loud squeal and immediately tried to nudge its head into his face, as if trying to comfort him.
Sobbing, Tian hugged it close against his chest. "I... I don't want to go to prison..." he repeated softly, his voice trembling.
The officer just sighed. "Just admit it was a mistake. You will not be falsely charged."
"It must be a mistake. I never use my phone. In fact, I recently got it."
The officer paused and looked at him. "Who gave it to you?"
"Lu Chen did." Tian wiped his face hard, rubbing away the tears until his whole face turned pink like a plum.
"Use the tissues." The officer gave him a small pack of tissues. "You say that Lu Chen gave you that phone. Did Lu Chen send that message too?"
"No... I don't think so. We were all asleep at that time." Tian thought about it carefully.
It was deep in the night. Who would be awake at that hour? Especially not Lu Chen. That guy worked very hard and would sleep like a log as soon as he lay down on his bed.
No one in the house would be awake at that hour except...
Tian's eyes slowly fell on Bacon.
Doubtfully, he stared down at the piglet in his arms. Through his tears, he could see Bacon's worried little face as it continued nudging against his chest. Its tiny snout rubbed against him again and again, almost as if it were trying to console him.
Tian blinked.
Could it be...?
No.
That was impossible.
"Okay, that is all we need. I need you to sign this statement you gave, please." The officer handed him a paper and pointed toward the space where he needed to sign.
Confused, Tian did so, carefully signing his name while still holding the piglet close.
"You can leave now..." The officer packed up his things.
"But what about Lu Chen?"
"We will interrogate him a bit more. Don't worry, just the usual questioning." He smiled reassuringly.
Tian stood up, hugging the piglet close to his chest. "Lu Chen is not a bad guy..." he mumbled.
"Hmm, hmm..." The officer took the unopened pack of tissues, pulled one out, and held it toward him. "Stop crying, man. Your face looks like a ripe peach." He said it with a small smile as he gently helped wipe the remaining tears from Tian's face.
Tian just blinked up at him innocently.
The officer cleared his throat, a soft blush appearing on his face.
"That is all for today. You can wait outside for your friend or... I..I can wait with you if you want?"
Hua Lang, who had been watching all this flirting, could not handle it anymore.
He let out a loud squeal!
'Hey, officer! Act like a cop! Don't go flirting with your suspects!'
Hearing the squeal, the officer gazed down at the piglet.
'Yeah, that's right. I'm talking to you! Why are you flirting with him, huh?! You... you oldie!'
The young officer just smiled at him. "Is that your pet? I've never seen anyone raising a pig as a pet. He looks cute..."
"Yeah, Bacon is my pet. I initially wanted to raise him to eat him, though," Tian whispered while wiping his tears.
Hearing this, Hua Lang froze up.
'Yeah... this angel is not so innocent, huh? He did try to eat me before...'
The officer let out a laugh. "Do... do you want some coffee while you wait?" he asked, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly.
"Yeah, I would love that. But I would like it with milk, please. I don't understand how humans can drink bitter coffee without sugar or milk," Tian mumbled as he walked alongside him.
Watching the two happily chit-chat made Hua Lang feel some sort of way.
He did not know how to explain it.
But all he knew was that he hated it!
He hated it so much!
He hated seeing the angel getting comfortable with other people! Especially this handsome officer!
His little eyes narrowed as they roamed down to the man's badge.
'Samuel... I'll remember your name. You unprofessional man. You barely did your job! I will definitely write down a complaint in your name! I swear!'
His furious declaration came out as nothing more than a series of angry oinks.
"Oink! Oink!"
Tian patted his head softly.
Feeling those soft hands rubbing his body made him slightly calmer. Huffing, he laid down on the guy's lap, though his glaring eyes remained fixed on the man sitting next to them.
The guy also looked his way with a smile.
Hua Lang's eyes narrowed.
'Yeah, that's right, buddy. I'm watching you. Don't you dare try to pull some kind of trick. I will... I will bite you to death if I have to.'
He gave another threatening little snort.
The officer only smiled.
Hua Lang glared harder.
'Why are you smiling?! This is not funny! I am threatening you!'
