And shockingly, Steve can call in airdrops as well. More importantly, the skill tree isn't scrapped either. The airdrop he called was large engineering equipment, basically gigantic robots. Although these robots couldn't hit the Lord Superman who was flying wildly in the sky, they could serve as launch pads for those who couldn't fly. Steve directly stepped onto one of the robot's arms, then jumped to the tip of its finger, and immediately threw his shield from mid-air, aiming at Lord Superman.
Lord Superman was about to pound the Gray mist, but his attack got deflected onto the shield instead. With a loud clang, the shield was knocked flying back, yet Steve remained unscathed. Lord Superman turned his head to look at him.
Although the Gray mist still had passive skills for taking damage, Greed's ultimate—the "Switch"—was changed to "Swap the positions of any two people on the field." This skill was just too fitting for Greed.
He first floated onto a giant robot's head, then swapped his position with Pikachu. This way, Pikachu reached a high point, able to release spells better. Then, he moved to the robot's shoulder to swap positions with Bucky, allowing Bucky to find an optimal output point.
Selina didn't need his help at all. She possessed Catwoman's flexibility and speed along with theft skills, able to switch between Son of Darkness and Archangel forms. First, she switched to Lightsaber, activated her shield, and rushed to chop wildly, taking advantage of the chaos to swipe at Lord Superman; when he discovered he was stolen from, she switched to her dark form to flee; as the opponent caught up, she activated her shield to stealthily swipe again, and then escape. Clearly, she was equally adept at offense and defense.
Lord Superman was so angry his head emitted smoke, while Selina and Bruce were absolutely having a blast. The two were genuinely here to play Overcooked.
"Quick quick quick! Activate the shield, otherwise he'll really hit you!"
"It's on, it's on. You handle the pickpocketing, I have to hold the shield up, can't spare a hand!"
"Got it, got it, run quickly!!"
"No, no, no, don't run that way. Go left, I can jump up there!"
"Can you jump that high?!"
"Just four meters, what's so high about that. Bruce, you really need to train more. Stop squirming up there, jump up!"
"You're not a Genetically Modified Person, how can you jump that high!!"
"Isn't there a wall over there? You can wall jump! First kick the wall, then grab the edge on that side, and do a flip to get up!"
"I can't perform that kind of acrobatics?!"
With a bang, Selina was knocked to the ground. Both of them turned dizzy and disoriented. Selina complained a bit: "I shouldn't have let you mess around, just handing the skills to me would've been better!"
"Darling, everyone's like this." Bruce, also dizzy, said, "We're already coordinating pretty well between the two of us."
"Come on now, I think we should be the first ones out." Selina sighed and said, "Luckily, I already stole all his consumables. I won't let that guy win!"
Just as they were waiting for Lord Superman to throw another punch and end the battle, a wave of Gray mist swept over, bringing them away.
"Doctor hooray!!!" Selina cheered.
At that moment, Bucky also landed beside them. Though knocked down, he unleashed a poisonous explosion from afar, knocking off a considerable portion of Lord Superman's health bar.
"It's a pity we didn't get our exclusive equipment." Bucky said, "Just a bit more and he'd be poisoned to death."
Natasha sighed as well. She checked the cooldown time for her skill, and said: "Let's unleash one more at the end, try to drop the health line low. If we still can't kill him, then that's it."
In mid-air, Steve continued his charge. He really attracted most of Lord Superman's attention since no matter who he attacked, the hits always landed on that shield. Unfortunately, the shield didn't take damage either. Captain America jumped around like a flea, dodging several punches from him. Lord Superman found him exceedingly annoying.
"Why do I feel they're all in cahoots?!"
"Because the two of us are too strong." Lord Batman said, "Unless they team up to take us down first, none of them can possibly win."
"But if they eliminate us first, they still can't beat that Shiller."
"It's perhaps because losing to Shiller is an everyday occurrence." Lord Batman said, "While fighting us at least they can struggle a bit."
"No way." Lord Superman gritted his teeth, "Can't let them win so easily!"
"Previously, there might not have been a way. But now, there's a certain possibility. Do you want to give it a try?"
Lord Superman hesitated a bit, saying: "Actually, I want more to take down that pesky thief."
"Alright." Lord Batman said, "I know you can't stand him. He stole nearly all our consumables. However, dealing with him isn't easy either. He has a shield to block, and runs really fast."
"What do you suggest then?"
"There is one way. However, it might cost us the final victory."
"You know, compared to eliminating criminals, I don't care much about winning."
"Alright, watch this."
Floating in mid-air, Lord Superman took a deep breath. He shifted his target towards Steve, constantly chasing him. Selina, who had hidden in a corner, thought she was safe, relaxed, and began using the pile of consumables to regain health. Bruce was busy chatting with her, oblivious to the battle drawing closer.
Lord Superman dragged Steve closer to Selina by the minute. Due to the chaos on the battlefield, nobody noticed. And when the distance was just right for an attack, Lord Superman swished his cape, Lord Batman's ultimate activated, with countless weapons shimmering in gold beneath his cape, aimed all at Selina.
"Ah ah ah ah ah ah!!!!"
Selina's health bar instantly dropped to zero.
"Great timing!" Bucky shouted to Steve. He caught up himself, and while Lord Superman was suspended in mid-air, fired another burst of bullets, followed by a toxic explosion targeting the blue bar, entirely wiping out Lord Superman's Spirit Value. Steve then launched a flying shield, clearing out the last bit of Lord Superman's health.
Lord Superman and Selina almost simultaneously transformed into white light. Yet, instead of returning to Battleworld, they remained in soul form, staying on the battlefield to spectate.
The physical fight was over, but the verbal one was just beginning. Unsurprisingly, Kryptonians hadn't played East Coast games before, but the two opposing him were mixed class, one from the Academy School.
After a round of "friendly" exchanges with Selina, Lord Superman's comments about him shifted from "thief" to "rude thief."
