Chapter 99 - Crowning

As the book pages began to fill, it stopped at a specific page titled "Yamato Tasumaki", which immediately gave Yamato an idea on what this book actually was. The page was filled with information about him, one segment in particular being especially interesting.

Sin Incarnation of Pride, title received after multiple requirements have been met.

Owner of this title rejects all forms of buffs, or outside forces meant to support them that originate from a seperate independent entity or group. Example, abilities which increase mana capacity of the user will fail and have no effect.

Owner of this title receives access to the special ability "Sole Supremacy".

As Yamato read through the detailed description, he remembered the prophecy, which he had tried to get a read on for the better half of the last year. As of now, it appeared he was directly involved now, making further clarification of the prophecy and its implications much more important. He turned a page back, as the book opened in the middle. Now he saw why the book had skipped through so many pages to get to him. All previous pages, which were at least 200, where titled Yuki Hikari, and talked in great detail about her abilities. It appeared as through the book could do much more than just give information about the owner. Even other people were under affect. But he would have more time to look at it later, as now he had different matters to attend to. He closed the book and gave it back to Yuki, who stored it in her pocket dimension.

"I believe I understand what happened during our fight. I've gained a title mid-fight, which resulted in a passive effect to activate. What it essentially does is prevent me from being buffed by anyone or anything. Which actually explains everything that happened during that fight. First, my mana turned off, as my mana is actually not my mana at all, but rather Yuki's. It being a foreign power, the mana was rejected and with it my ability to use magic. Tragic loss, but whatever. Next, Lucy attempted transferring me her mana, which was rejected for the same reason. Though the rejection had a more extreme rejection, which makes sense since it was an active act instead of Yuki's mana being in my possession rather passively. Finally, Mateo's attacks. He explained his power as unbearable for any normal human, and maybe he was right with that. However his attack consisted of sharing said power to a degree, and therefore proving I couldn't handle it. A deadly buff, if you will. Which of course, deadly or not, was rejected as buff."

"Fascinating… How come you acquired such a skill, in the midst of our battle, of all times?"

Marneras adoring gaze felt like Yuki's, though his was fundamentally different even if they shared the same object of worship.

"I will explain that another time, if you really want to know. But now, something else needs to be done."

"Is it time, Master? I've waited so long for this! Especially since everything had gone wrong the last couple of days, I thought this one might actually prevent you from accomplishing your goal, but my faith and love never withered! I sense all people being gathered outside the town. Quite impressive that they were able to evacuate everyone so quickly, I have to admit… But by now they should have realized that the situation has changed. I assume they will send adventurers or mercenaries to investigate if the town is safe again."

"Well… This whole fight was not part of the plan, but it actually only supports it in the end… I did count on everyone being here though…"

"Way ahead of you, Master! I prepared a teleportation spell in advance, through which I am now able to bring everyone here!"

"Really? Since when can you do that?"

"Since two hours ago! I'm constantly evolving, Master~ Only short distance with pretty long prep time for now though… So no good for combat, but sufficient for this situation."

"Then it's time… You just fly up, and everyone else just adds to the crowd that's about to form."

"Uh… Crowd? Teleportation? What's going on all of the sudden?", Lucy asked as today had once again been beyond stressful, now she was in the middle of some sort of scheme of which she had no knowledge of. Actually, sue was completely lost ever since Iky just spit out a book which Yuki then gifted Yamato who read it intrigued, as if it had not been just puked out by the creature that ate up the immortal priest.

"Oh, Lucy, you silly thing~ It's all gonna make sense in a minute. Though now that I think about it, let's call it Operation Savior! Maybe you get it already?"

"What is that even supposed to mean… And why can't you just tell me?"

"Ah, no time! Bye, bye, see you when it worked out perfectly~"

With that, Yuki teleported everyone besides Yamato and herself away, whatever they were doing remaining a complete mystery to Lucy still.

"It's a little exciting, isn't it? And with this, I know the answer to your question from earlier."

"Oh, do you?"

"Yes, I know exactly what the greatest power in a medieval time like this is."

"Be sure to tell me later. Do your thing. You still have the letter, right?"

"Yeah, but I already memorized and improved it!"

"Improved, huh?"

"Stand ready for my acting skills~"

With a flash of light, a mass of people was teleported right in front of the ruins that were left of the church, confusing at the sudden change of location spreading rapidly through the mob. However, suddenly a voice audible throughout the entire town could be heard, and a man could be seen standing at the top of what remained of the once proud center of town.

"You have suffered, been afraid, and now even forced out of your home… But that is now over. Some of you may have heard, some even seen it already, how I promised to improve your lives… How I stood up to the Baron that oppressed you all these years, even oppressed his son to such a degree that he was murdered by him… I have come to fulfill the promise, which I have made in a tavern not too long ago. Corruption, inequality and injustice have plagued you since the day you were born, as the history of this town has shown that its leaders are incapable of change. I ask you, is that right? I think not… Look around you, does any of this look right? Demons, that were brought here by said leaders in search of greater power, destroyed your home! I stopped them! And was that not right?! Am I not right? As the current head of town summons demons, let me bring to you an angel, a bringer of light. I promised to bring you your tomorrow, and I will continue to do so for the rest of your lives!"

While he talked, many people looked at each other, not because they did not understand his words, but because they were surreal. Count Lintone being more shaken than anyone, as he did not even find words to yell against Yamato's obvious attempt to start a revolution. Suddenly, roaring applause and praise from the entire town, not Count Lintone of course. But it was not even the climax yet. It died down in awe as Yamato's words came true, as the sky turned golden, a bright light shining down onto him through the clouds. A being of extraordinary beauty descending onto earth, shining bright and showing off the epitome of divinity. Carina was the first to point out the person who came from the light, and as a member of the church, her opinion was respected.

"Can it be… It's an actual angel!"

Yuki presented herself behind Yamato, both facing the crowd with her voice echoing through the mind like a holy melody.

"I come to declare this man the savior of this town, and its people hence forth being under divine protection, meaning his continued protection. As both the aristocrats and church have proven to fall to corruption, I declare him head of this town, and relieve all aristocrats that claim jurisdiction over this domain of their position effective immediately. Furthermore, I place myself as head of church, to ensure absolute safety and security."

People began arguing in the crowd, unsure of what this meant.

"Does this mean the town belongs to that man there? He looks so young… Can she just do that?"

"I don't know… She sure looks like an angel to me. And I don't see any more threats around either."

"Carina confirmed she is an actual angel too…"

Yuki smiled softly, though from up close it was more of a smug grin, she was too high for anyone to see the difference.

"I bring to you not only words, but the divine gift of a secure future… True Creation Magic…"

Whispering the last part to cast a spell, she extended her arms into the air, at which golden light came out of her palms. Like a liquid, it hit the ground and quickly spread across the ground, enveloping the entire town in mere moments. After which, all damage was repaired. Not only that, each house was actually improved upon. The dirty wooden houses that were on the verge of collapse turning into solid stone, the road paved and the center church being… Removed? Or at least what was left of it. For some reason, Yukk chose not to repair it. But no one even noticed at that point, as everyone looked around in awe. Yamato started speaking again, Yuki having done her part and flying down to stand next to him.

"This and more is what I offer, backed up by literal divinity! Who is with me?!"

One last shared look amongst the crowd during the silence, which was replaced by an even louder applause filling the now clean streets of this town. As Count Lintone removed himself together with Mr. Loop, it was already too late to take action against Yamato's influence on the town.

The absolute power Yamato revered to previous, was religion. In a time where many phenomena were explained by supernatural powers, even if they were real in this world to some extent, religion was the ultimate weapon. The sole reason Yamato had kept Yuki's identity as an angel a secret for so long, was to use it in a moment like this. Yuki holds near infinite authority in a situation like this, easily politically outranking even kings, if done correctly. However, usually worries about backlash are taken care of already in this case by the preparation done throughout their entire stay in this town. From the framing of Jonathan, to the improvised use of this catastrophe.
