Bones lay scattered across the grass. Gold pouches glimmered under the moonlight.
Alex exhaled slowly and rested his mace on his shoulder. "Not a bad start."
The fight was not over.
The skeletons were not finished. The Grave Warden he had just crushed was only a mini-boss.
More skeletons began to rise from the dark soil. This time they looked different.
Their weapons were freshly polished. Some wore partial armor, dented but faintly enchanted.
A few clutched staffs that crackled with weak mana.
Alex grinned. His eyes lit up with excitement instead of fear.
"Now we're talking."
Even if a bone dragon crawled out next, he would not flinch. His experiment had worked.
If he had more time, Alex felt sure he could change any number, manipulate any stat, and rewrite the rules.
'I'll save this as a trump card,' he thought, glancing at the glowing interface that flickered in the corner of his vision.
'Just in case.'
