The lowest floor of the pit was dark, even with the lights installed in the corners. It was not the floor which elder Onhalu had made the group visit before, but a floor even lower than that, just above the heart of the pit where the water was sourced from for all the rooms below the sea floor level, and pushed to have the celerity needed for the body refining vortices.
In other words, given that the lower rooms had stronger vortices, the power of the one at the very bottom of the pit could only be imagined.
The group's footsteps resounded in the quiet atmosphere, bringing an even heavier layer of solemnity over the scene.
Jumping over a chasm, after all, was not easy.
Arriving beside the door of the room at the heart of the pit, the group stopped. Elder Onhalu turned to Hannah, the previous smile now absent from his face. He said nothing, and only waited.
Jack didn't step forward to stand beside Hannah. He looked at her back with a grave expression.
