Raphael held his breath for a moment, counting up and down from ten again and again until he was able to calm down his temper enough to address the other man.
He had never been challenged like this, and Travis was doing it with a smile on his face, waiting for the Alpha to blow up.
But Raphael would not give him the satisfaction of playing into his hands.

"I don't need to explain myself to you," replied Raphael, pushing down his wolf as his other side wanted to burst out of their human skin and attack the shifter in front of him. The problem was that a wolf rarely won in a physical fight against a bear, especially when they were alone.
"No," agreed Travis, his eyes never leaving Raphael's. The wolf could see the bear staring at him through those bright blue orbs. "You don't have to explain yourself to me. But you do have to explain yourself to our mate."
