Chapter 140 - Ten Is Still Not Enough

The pebble hit me between the eyes.

I caught it after it bounced off my nose and stared at it. This was becoming personal.

I had been lying on my bed for the better part of twenty minutes, tossing it toward the ceiling and trying to catch the exact moment Daphne had shown me. Not while it was falling, and not when it was already close enough to hit me in the face. Before.

I tossed it again. Up. It slowed, stopped, and for a very small moment had nowhere to go.

Someone knocked.

"Alash."

Cedric. I closed my eyes.

"Alash."

"I heard you."

"Then answer."

"I just did."
